Now this is what we should be talking about. Not whether someone wished MC a happy anniversary or not. Wow. Amazing vocals.

It's not absurd, go running and tell your ex that. While you can find a few athletes here and there who have cheated, many of them have been found out sooner or later, they've been ridiculed and many of them have been stripped of their "accolades", but that's not the majority, that's why there's a system in place for that. When a singer cheats here and there by lipping, most people don't care as long as you still can sound decent or justify the money you're getting by putting on a good show. Fans shouldn't be taken advantage of just because they're loving fans, they should be respected just the same way the celebrities in question are respected by then.
According to your fine logic, just because Mariah has gotten lazy and doesn't give an f nowadays, we should just sit and take it lying down just because she once gave us some great music. No, no and no. She's known for not even doing like doing her own sound check, wtf.
Any person who have gotten to a point where they know they can't do their job decently, should retire with dignity, period. But I think it's not that Mariah can't do her job decently, I think that she doesn't want to put in the work to get that outcome. Her pretty caked up face won't just cut it. At least not for me.

Oh, please, this is just absurd. Like one of my ex'es said about Oprah Winfrey, don't believe too much in your own shit. This comparison is absurd and not valid. To become an athlete successful until their late thirties commits endless practice and everything in between. Mariah is an artist in music, what she wants to put in it and what she she wants to sacrifice is completely on her own terms.
Mariah has got lazy, and will only bring to the table what is least expected by her. I think this is a natural thing of hers, her rebellion self, not wanting to push herself to the extreme to make people, and her Tommy Mottala ex, to love her.
Mariah has made it her absolute most important point to make, that she just doesn't care, she wants to do her thing, and nothing else.
If we, as her fans, would have directed her career, it would have been very different, still making Mariah sing songs in the key of "Music Box" and "Daydream". Yes, I would have loved it. But as a person who also have been "directed" by people outside, the most important and validating thing is to finally experiance that you are your own queen/king.
You have brought the soundtrack to my life, the most important artist that I can think of. Nothing can change anyting, you are the love of my music life, I love you Mariah.

We have a few of those members that rarely post anything except when they feel like their self-righteous asses need to tell other fans that they are not fans based on their mental state that day. It's effing ridiculous. I've been a member of this board for 23 years, and have seen many of those super lambs come and go. Telling Robert-Anthony he's just a follower lets you know how many neurons are still part their brains.

Please tell me what the point was Mr. All Knowing? See, my point was that my grandmother's birthday celebration was my priority that day, not MC or her fans. I'm old enough to know that there are more important things in life than pleasing complete strangers, like MC, her fans, and her now disqualified non fans. That's why I don't post often, everything you say here can and will be used against you by someone who knows nothing about you for some seriously randomness reasons. It's good enough for me that I send positive thoughts to MC all the time, including on her birthday, even if they are not all typed for you guys to read and pick apart. To me that counts more than typing up words for complete strangers to validate. But you know what? We love everybody. Again, it's not that deep. Take it easy.

Because athletes actually jump, dunk, fall, run, perform triple axels etc during their entire career and don't have the luxury of lipping any of their performances. They retire in their late thirties because it's well documented that their bodies are worn out by that age and could actually get hurt if they keep doing it. Michelle Kwan, one of the most loved and awarded figure ice skaters, retired at 26, most in that sport are done by 30. Singers are different. While they're not expected to sing perfectly, they can sing decently into their late seventies. The difference is that athletes can't sit their asses down and expect to win a game, they all have to practice and put in the work before every game during their entire careers. Some singers take good really care of their instruments and some just don't seem to care. You can't lip a triple Axel or a slam dunk even on a promotional presentation.

Steve, try again. I am more than just a follower. I am Mimi's #1 Lamb since I heard VOF on the radio in 1990. Young Lambs like you came along after 2002. I am critical of MC on here, but it is out of concern for MC and how her career has been on a downward spiral since 2013. 1990 Lambs want her to reset and give us what we all know she's capable of doing.

Although I do not come here to bash or pick MC apart, I don't need anyone telling me if I classify as a fan or not. I simply did not wish her a "Happy Anniversary " because I was too busy celebrating my own grandmother's 95th birthday. Also, this is a fan board, not a direct link to her, it's not guaranteed that she would even see it here. I have, however, wished her well and sent lovely direct messages to her via social media, and guess what? No response. But I don't care, I am sure she's too busy to acknowledge everyone just like I was busy on her birthday. It's not that deep. Take it easy.

Randy, that is great video compliation of MC's excuses. Watching it made realize that MC clearly has an identity self-image issue that has affected her ability to stop worrying about what people think about her. I can relate to this because I am extra sensitive about how people perceive me. Rosie assured her each time, but she still couldn't accept her sincere praises of her performances. Looking In, I Am Free, Close My Eyes, Outside, Fly Like A Bird, Camouflage, and Potrait all tell the story of MC's identity self-image issue. Losing her voice has only made it worse for MC.

I think we all are fans of her, and what makes a fan or not is not you to decide. I mostly write positive things about Mariah on this board, many of my posts are pure appreciation posts. Sometimes I am critical, and I think it's a good thing we all can be critical. When I talk to other people who are fans of other artists and they can't say even one negative thing about the artist, that is to be delusional. I think it's healthy to have a balanced view of one's favourite artist. In my teens I was a delusional fan of Mariah, praising everything, defending her so much people thought I was crazy. None of my friends are a fan of Mariah, but I think they feel it's ok to listen to her because I have a balanced view, and show reflection about her as an artist, acknowledging her more negative qualities as well.
And for her anniversary, I posted an old video that Billboard posted a few years ago on Mariah's birthday, so I did my job, one friend liked the video.
Mariah has been a big part of my life and still is.

Many people on this board who post negative things about Mariah like to hid behind they "care" and are "fans", but are being "honest" and sometimes that means tough love. I'm on record as saying I think that's largely malarky, and they snidely deride me when I say that, But for a "fan board" very few folks wished her Happy Anniversary, and none of the regular critics. Indeed, plenty of posts before and after, but very few on the day of. Compare that to other fan boards of other artists, which have a higher percentage of posters who are actual, well fans.

Excuse herself relentlessly. And Terna, you were very gracious in your counter to me. A lot more gracious than I would expect. I think I'm developing a crush. At the end of the day, I have a 24x36 of MC in my living room. I am obsessed. Maybe that's why I pick everything apart. Because I actually care too much. Good night y'all. You're arguing with yourself. I never called anyone evil, I just said folks hiding behind "actually, we're the real fans because we care enough to speak up" show who they really are by not acknowledging her anniversary, a simple yet non-trivial act if one is a fan of someone. That you list all the reasons you don't like her anymore as "receipts" of some argument you're having with yourself doesn't disprove my point (quite the contrary that you spent so much time putting that together but couldn't wish her a happy anniversary).
I'll hang up and listen whilst you yell at the clouds. Peace.

As tired as you are of us picking Mariah apart, we are tired of being told that we are not fans and we are evil people. Nobody's mad because MC doesn't have the same voice as 1990. Hell, she didn't even have the same voice in 1998. The real issue is the deception and the excuses. How did she go from saying publicly, :I would never lip sync" in the 90s to lip syncing most of her climaxes in 99 and beyond? And then not telling us what happened? I didn't want to do this on this board but a few years ago, I put together all of MCs excuses. In her own words. I don't ever argue without receipts. Oh and I still love MC. Your little video doesn't prove anything Randy, because most of the "excuses" were actually complaints of her having to get up early in the morning to sing which many other credible singers and performers have also echoed from Whitney Houston to Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Michael Bolton etc. Even most recently Chaka Khan's comment on Mary J. Blige's cover of her song referenced this well known fact - singers do not wake up early to sing well first thing in the morning. It is a common phenomenon they all know.

I didn't want to do this on this board but a few years ago, I put together all of MCs excuses. In her own words. I don't ever argue without receipts. Oh and I still love MC.

You would think a "fan" would (and should) know that Mariah celebrities her anniversaries and not birthdays.
God bless you Lady B. [censored] Mariah Careys legacy and accomplishments will never be diminished by the words from a mouth lmfao. This board and get really dark sometimes, I wish I saw just a glimpse of the love Mariah pour on us every time on this message-board.
PS: I don't know why people are so impatient over new music when she is clearly working on it and has said numerous times that the tv series is her priority. Even though I want a Netflix documentary first. We need to remind the masses and the lambs of the [censored] she really is.
