Re: New Mariah Carey era (98,209) (98,211) by Bill from the UK
I love how concise and brief Caution was though. It's an album I play so frequently because of that. If I want to listen to Charmbracelet I have to schedule it into my calendar lol as that album never seems to end. I listen to Caution far more frequently than her other albums because it is so easy to listen to. It's fine tuned, to the point, and every song packs a punch.

Terna, I feel exactly the same way. I don't like these songs. But I like Triumphant.

New Mariah Carey era (98,209) by Terna from Nigeria
Honestly, after all the success she's had and major [hits], I honestly don't think we've seen the best of her yet. There's still at least one major, massive (all caps) era left in her and I have a feeling were about to witness it, but she needs a team that believes in the music and is capable, kinda like during the "Emancipation of Mimi" era. The music too has to deliver as well as her vocals - top notch quality as expected when it comes to a Mariah Carey record. Caution came close, but lacked vocally, was too brief and haphazardly promoted.

Re: Worst song ever made? Triumphant (98,198) (98,208) by Terna from Nigeria
So we're just gonna pretend like "To The Floor", "Stay Long Love You" (such trash), "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life"(hideosity at its finest) and Irresistible don't exist right? Now those are the real worst of her career and I know I can speak on the behalf of the Lambily on this one. Haha.

Re: Undeniable MC (98,178) (98,207) by Terna from Nigeria
I agree with you on this one, Mariah's sound is deeply rooted in everything she does musically, her choice of melodies, chords, vocals and even song arrangement is very distinct so much so that she's identifiable even when she isn't the performing artist. A very good example are the songs she's written for other artists - "Allure", "Faith Hill" to name a few. Immediately I heard those songs I thought to myself that they were "Mariahesque" so to speak which I later confirmed.

Triumphant is another one of those songs that I love and also has a more stripped down version on YouTube as well.

Re: No more single teases, just drop the song (98,200) (98,205) by Mynn from Planet Lamb
If you remember, she was planning the remix and video for #Beautiful but she got injured (enter Bejeweled Armcast era) and that's when promotion for the song stopped as well. It's unfortunate that it happened, because it definitely would've been her 19th #1 for sure.

Mariah? (98,204) by Ricardo from New Zealand
I often wonder if she'll ever have a hit again to be honest lol. Diana Ross just released her new single. Mm. Maybe start actually writing songs that you don't have to listen to multiple times to start to like? Because that's what we are getting lol. Love Mariah, but not to the point I'm going to say her recent music is good. Or she still be hitting number one.

Clarification (98,203) by We are lambily from USA
I used to be called "We are lambiily" before on this board, that's not me. Triumphant is clear fave, and I have grown to love it so much, but vintage and acoustic version are amazing. Kisses.

She did that with #Beautiful and it made it all the way to #15. I think that you are on to something. Why did #Beautiful stall at number 15?

No more single teases, just drop the song (98,199) by SM from Citizen of the World
I hope Mariah's next single/album, she just puts it out and doesn't do any teases, countdowns etc. I think it's lame now in 2021, nobody really cares besides the lambily and it would probably spark more interest in the public, especially if it's a decent lead.

Worst song ever made? Triumphant (98,198) by SM from Citizen of the World
Despite the inspiring lyrics and the story behind it, Triumphant would be my least favorite Mariah track in her catalog. It does nothing for me. The song should have stayed in the vault. Other than that I don't personally dislike any of her other tracks.

Re: Worst song ever made? (98,194) (98,196) by Bill from the UK
I always count Beautiful as the lead for MIAM, despite the gap between it and the album's release. The same happened with Kate Bush's The Dreaming. Sat In Your Lap was the "lead" single, but was released a year before the album and second single. But like Beautiful, the album would be incomplete without it.

From your list, GTFO annoys me so much because sonically, it is incredible. It is moody, it has a vibe, it's different, it's sophisticated, and it's mellow but has an undertone running through it as well. Why, on earth, she placed those ridiculous lyrics on top of one of her most original and fresh sounds is beyond me (admittedly it is a sample, but which lead single of hers isn't). Such a disappointment.

And yikes, Save the Day was completely erased from my memory haha. I'm like, Mariah. The Rarities has Here We Go Around Again and original Loverboy on it. You put those tracks out as a single in Japan. Why release Save the Day when that album was littered with so many wonderful songs? Ugh.

Re: Worst song ever made? (98,192) (98,195) by Mynn from Planet Lamb
Dang y'all so mean about her new songs. I don't think Infinity was that bad. It was cheesy, but I actually liked her rap-singing on that track and the part where she's swiping left on guys and saying "no" is so memorable.

There's acoustic/stripped down versions of "I Don't" on YouTube that sounds much more mellow a lot less trappy and lets her vocals shine which I appreciate. The one Rasfa made is my favorite that I regularly play.

I can see "Boy (I Need You)" being an acquired taste, but I actually think it would've done well as a lead-single back in 2002 when it was released followed by "The One". The remixes for Boy are also so very underrated much like the Charmbracelet album itself.

Mariah Carey - I Don't (Where I Wanna Be remix) featuring YG - for anyone who wants to look it up on YouTube and Mariah Carey - Boy (I Need You) (Vince remix) is also my favorite of the Boy remixes if interested as well.

Re: Worst song ever made? (98,192) (98,194) by The Real Deal from USA
"Somewhat Loved" is totally fine as an album cut. I like it. As a single, I don't think it's strong enough. I actually like "Infamous" from "Empire" very much. I wish that it was promoted more. It reminded me of those late 90s/early 2000s pop/r&b crossover duets. In regard to the weakest singles pulled from her category (not album cuts), I would have to say:

1) I Don't - Her vocals are very weak on this song and YG rapping "I'll make you love me; even though you don't trust me" repeats way too damn much in the song.

2) Infinity - Because of most of the lyrics. However, I think her vocals on it sound great.

3) Save The Day - The mix sounds like a rough demo. I've actually heard demos that were better quality. The vocals also are also not up to par.

3) Boy (I Need You) - Not a bad song at all, but a bad single choice because upon its release, the original Cam'ron version was only 8 months old, and still receiving alot of airplay. Hence, many non Mariah fans thought it was just an additional remix version of his song. It would be like if another artist put out their own version of "Levitating" right now, while Dua Lipa's version is still on the charts.

4) GTFO - Again, her vocals sound weak and the shock value that she may have been looking for didn't resonate. There were no headlines saying "Mariah uses the F word in a song title". I sincerely believe the only reason she chose this as a single was for the F word shock value. Sidenote: I don't care about promo single or teaser - once you release it as a standalone track on iTunes and make a music video for it, then it is a single. I don't care what record execs say!

5) Loverboy - Yes I said it. The chorus of the released version does nothing for me. It sound slike background vocals waiting for a lead vocal chorus. The original intended Firecracker version brought the chorus vocals out more.

Nobody has mentioned "You're Mine (Eternal)", but I want to say that I love that track. I just don't think it should've been the lead single from MIAM. A more uptempo cut would've served better, such as "Thirsty", "Meteorite", or "You Don't Know What To Do".

I would have to start by saying that I love all of Mariah Carey's songs, however if I had to pick one that I like the least it would have to be Infinity. There is a good mix on YouTube called Jasmin's Club Mix that makes it more tolerable.

Haha exactly. There are a lot worse. Off the top of my head: Crapfinity, Can't Say No, Did I Do That, Infamous, Boy, and The Star.

Mimi likes to be on trend, but doesn't have it and her fans don't really want it. It's like she might like to dance, but she is not good at it.

Whatever happened to Randy? I guess he was serious last October when he said that he hated Save The Day and would no longer be a fan. So, when was MC's last great song that was released as single?

Re: Worst song ever made? (98,187) (98,189) by Edward from USA
I completely agree with you. There are many producers out there with whom she could collaborate. She could make use of some quality writing now that she can't rely on her vocal acrobatics. I just don't know why she's not doing it.

Please, I don't think it's that bad. Somewhat Loved is not her worst song. How quickly we forget Crapfinity.

MC will not receive any radio airplay again until she stops creating music that people can pinpoint a time in her life. People don't care about her personal life in her songs anymore. She's going to have to get co-writers like Olivia Rodrigo did and release songs that people can relate to. Olivia is hot right now. Jessie J has a new song co-written by Ryan Tedder called I Want Love. It reminds me of that Fantasy vibe MC use to have with her songs- fresh, hot and radio friendly. I believe she is listening in 2021. Just my thoughts on the beach in Florida.
