Actually you've said the people on the list are there instead of her because they were more popular than her at the height of her career which is an opinion, not a fact, and is undercut by objective data.
The truth is that the people on the list are on the list mostly for ventures they have done outside of music, not their music careers. Good for them and their teams.

You seem to be a lil bit obtuse. "Yass Queen" doesn't refer to sexuality. It refers to what delusional fans like yourself blindly call Mariah when she has done a great or horrible job. And Eric, my dear, has always been fair to all of us. You don't get to have a board like this for 25 years by being a tyrant.

Edward, are you trying to teach the Lambs about angles? The obtuse angle is the smaller angle. Lol. I am cracking up this morning, but also concerned that MC not making a Forbes list is such a hot and contested topic among some Lambs. She will make other lists this year.

Mocking sexual preferences? What on earth are you talking about. We're talking about why Mariah is not on the Forbes list and I've presented logical facts as to why she isn't rather than the standard "she's had more number ones than anybody therefore she is the best" argument that always gets thrown around here by the delusionals.

It was sarcasm. The only things you guys proved was that you can put words in people's mouths and mock their sexual preferences and claim victory. It's very one sided and Eric knows because my posts calling you out on it don't get published. Let's see if this one makes it. I seriously doubt it.

The downfall can be traced much further back, but she was fortunate to have a comeback. Memoirs was a bit of a misstep and she's never had a top ten since that album. The problem is she doesn't have the voice anymore without studio engineering so she's only really got her songwriting. That, unfortunately, has been in a bit of a rut since 1997, and has gone steadily downhill since she began incorporating nonsense in her lyrics like "corny like Fritos" and comparing herself to a chandelier etc.

Bill, you feel that Infinity was downfall of MC's career, right? MC's career never recovered after that horrible song was released and placed as the lead single on a greatest hits collection. She should have recorded and released a follow up to Vision of Love or something in its vain. Will she ever recover to reclaim her 2005 comeback?

Yes, but that is only a US perspective. One Sweet Day was not a huge hit anywhere else except the US. It was a normal top ten across other territories. Most of her earlier number ones didn't even chart strongly across the world, whereas Madonna for example had global success with her music from the very beginning.
And I don't know if you pay attention to today's charts, but Taylor and Beyonce are far, far more popular than Mariah was during her peak. Again, globally, not just US-centric.
And again, Mariah's success in the mid-90s wouldn't be enough to have her on the list. During that peak she did, what, less than 10 concert dates? Madonna and Dolly probably did hundreds in that same period.

Not one of those women experienced that juggernaut, fever pitch fame Mariah experienced in her peak, and this was before the internet and social media. Neither has Celine Dion had bigger hits. Matter of fact Celine was pretty much unknown until the late 90's with Titanic and Mariah had already had One Sweet Day, a feat she repeated again with "We Belong Together" in the 2000's. Juggernaut, massive (all caps), inescapable hits. Which both ended up being crowned Song of the Decade.

I agree that Mariah's popularity in 93-96 was untouchable, and another thing is that she only focused on what was important, the music. At the same time we have to remember that it's all about the perspective. Mariah was insane big in the US and some Asian countries. Celine was extremely popular in Europe and North America. I don't know about the African sales numbers, or how it was in South America. I do know how it was in Europe.

It's probably right. All those artists you listed are incredibly popular, absolute juggernauts of the industry. Way more popular than Mariah was during her peak. The only real comparable is Celine. Her career is longer, her hits bigger, her tours and residencies gross more, and her sales likely bigger at this point. Mariah's career is great, but others have had better ones.

I was not talking about you specifically but thanks for jumping in and writing my follow up post. As long as it fits your narrative, I guess. We were talking about careers in their peak, not individual songs that you chose yourself as examples. We were not talking about current status of their career either. What does fit you is that you always have to be right about everything and assuming of others. If I wanted to say it was you I would have said so, if the shoe fits please wear it. Most artists who are inducted are respected pop artists. When MC moved more into the R&B genre, she made it harder for music industry board members to nominate her for accolades that we as Lambs know she deserves. Remember it was just two years ago that she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. I believe the Emotions album was a R&B step in the wrong direction too soon. The back and forth from pop to R&B the first 4 albums confused a lot of music industry board members, but radio loved her pop and R&B songs.

Sheryl Crow? They are inducting Sheryl Crow over Mariah Carey in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Look I like Soak Up The Sun but she doesn't have any of the statistics MC has. For a 9 time Grammy award winner, she has no number ones and has sold 50 million albums. Whitney, Janet, Madonna have all made it in. No MC? Come on industry.

I'm not sure if you're referring to my post, but how was I negative and mad lol? All I said was that those artists on the Forbes list are massive and it is probably right. Whitney isn't on the list, and she's about the same level of popularity as Mariah in the world, so it makes sense.
And yes Mariah has had a million number ones, but that can't always be the trump card you lay to try to win an argument. More people have heard of and know songs like Jolene and Papa Don't Preach over Thank God I Found You and I Don't Wanna Cry.
As I said, Mariah has had a fantastic career, no one would ever doubt that, but you have to be more measured and realistic when analysing and reflecting on her career against her peers, especially in these later years where she is finding it increasingly difficult to hold on to her "greatest voice of a generation" tag.
I'll write your next post for you: she has nothing to prove, if you don't like her why do you hang around here, get a life, yaas queen, slay.

I think only handful of artists have been more popular than Mariah at their respective prime. There's people here that strongly believe that their opinions are the only ones that matter. They have to be right about everything and will go to far lengths to defend their opinions, even when they are wrong and downright offensive. It's gotten really boring to see their posts get published but when you go against it, your post doesn't see the light of day. I get that the webmaster has the right to pick and choose, I'm just saying it's unfair and again, very boring. Yawn. I try not to argue with them simply because you can never win an argument against those. It's better to log off and go to do something positive and productive and let these "lambs" sit with their phones and attack Mariah and each other. Call me delusional or whatever and I don't care, your words mean nothing to me. Stay negative and stay mad.

Yet Time Magazine declared Mariah the most successful and enduring pop star. None of those ladies have accomplished what Mariah has in the industry. What I like about Mariah's career is despite her incredibly highs she has also had some lows unlike the other ladies. In my book that adds value.
Aside from tours, she has more of everything you could possibly think of. Celine doesn't sell much and her streaming is really low in comparison to her peers.

All those figures are speculative. They usually estimate those numbers by the value of companies they're heavily involved in, celebrities do not go telling how much they are worth. We know approximaly Oprah's value based on the value of Harpo, same for Jessica Simpson and even Rihanna, but it's basically impossible to know. When Forbes and the lambs were sure Mariah was worth approximately 500 M, her prenup with Nick showed she came into theirr marriage with 150 M, very far from the numbers Forbes and other online outlets had been stating for a decade. In short, do not believe Forbes.

So on the first of June, Forbes published a list of the richest self-made women, 100 women in fields of careers. For music, Rihanna (20) leads $1.4B, Taylor (34), Madonna (45), Beyoncé (48), Celine (56), Dolly Parton (59) and Barbra (61) with $430M. I cannot help but think if this list is even accurate or does Mariah not share her income accurately in tax books lol.

Forbes richest women, no Mariah (102,813)

It's probably right. All those artists you listed are incredibly popular, absolute juggernauts of the industry. Way more popular than Mariah was during her peak. The only real comparable is Celine. Her career is longer, her hits bigger, her tours and residencies gross more, and her sales likely bigger at this point. Mariah's career is great, but others have had better ones.

"Fantasy" and "Vision of Love" are outstanding. 100% Mariah magic, just brilliant. Yes, her years from 1990 until 1999 are unbelievable. I did a "music marathon" with the songs from that decade. The melodies, her lyrics, her voice so soft and powerful. I can't get enough of it. It's addictive for the ears and soul. Oh Tina Arena really? She's great. That would be a nice surprise. I have a best of CD from her, I just listenend the week before. Fanstasic voice and the song "Chains" reminded me a little bit of Mariah on some parts.
