Kendrick Lamar is a genius (100,284)

Wow, his new project is amazing and may dominate the charts and awards season. I don't love rap, but I love his creativity, delivery and ability to forge his own lane. Good for him. His new project is bananas.

What was your favorite MC summer song/moment? (100,283)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
To get ready for a new era starting this summer, let's reminisce about our favorite MC summer song/moment. My favorite MC summer song/moment was the 2005 when We Belong Together was still hot on radio. I was at a popular Memphis park called Overton Park. All the "family" came out on Sunday afternoon. Lol. We Belong Together was being played very loud in someone's car. Everybody was gathered around this one car singing We Belong Together. I was so proud to see lips and bodies moving to my favorite artist's #1 song. Whenever I would talk about MC during the TEOM era, I would say, "That's my girl." I was and still am a proud Lamb.

Agreed Matty. It also gives her children a grounded place with a yard and pool and stability over a NYC penthouse/3 story unit amidst concrete skyscrapers. Mariah is a smart business woman and even better mom. I think all those factored into her decision along with a possible biopic with Lee Daniels. The face that the Rock rented this home didn't hurt.

The big four record executives and the radio corporations don't want MC get her next # 1 song and beat The Beatles' record. Why do you think since the pandemic she has referred to them as the corporate morgue?

Doesn't anybody else find it strange that the original Big Energy is still getting more airplay (maybe streams as well, not sure) in the US whereas in most other countries like UK and Australia it's the opposite and she's getting credited there? I'd hate to think that it's still industry politics that she often alludes to.

Her exact words were: "I hope everyone receives the remix." "Some of my best dear friends who are DJs at big stations haven't received it yet and I am really hopeful that they will get that thing."

I didn't get to listen to this twitter space. Did Mariah have anything specific to say about radio not playing BER or was it just a statement she made?

Why not? It's a huge music hub, it's a gorgeous part of your country with lush nature (and of course all politics aside, because American politics in general are a dumpster fire). There's so many creative people that live in ATL from music to film. It's also extremely inexpensive real estate and you get way more bang for your buck then NY or LA. She also wants more privacy than ever at this point in her life from what I'm getting from her. I get it, the move makes sense!

I like his twitter account. I think the single that is supposedly dropping the day after the Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony is from this project MC keeps referring to where she has worked with several artists. She alluded to that snippets of The Butterfly Lounge will premiere during the Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony in lieu of her preforming her hits. Also, she talked about that a lot of radio stations are not playing the Big Energy remix. Per MC, festive things are on the way.

When do the bells ring (100,273)
by Tyler from USA

I'm a huge fan of Jazz and have been playing WDTBR with Tony Bennett non stop lately. Such a great song and slowly becoming one of my all-time favorite collab. MC's voice was in such great shape during her pregnancy. This also goes for MC2IIYou as vocally this is the best she sounded post Glitter IMO. Her whisper voice sounds so strong and not as nasality as it does sometimes now. Really hoping there's some hidden songs from this era that end up on "Rarities 2".

The last true superstar (100,272)
by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
| |
|
|
It's not looking good for Madonna, or the "queen" of pop, after she has now put her 3D model of her vagina, giving birth to butterflies, amongst other speices, for all to purchase.
I really do think now that Mariah is the only mentally balanced superstar that is left, enjoying life by her pool and tennis court, but maybe with a bit too much sparkling wine, but who wouldn't have done that to relax if you are a familiar face for almost every human being on earth. After this socially suicidal move from Madonna, Mariah's status is actually increasing, because she only give people good vibes. Celine Dion is also on the path of self destruction.
I think we can be proud of our beloved Mariah, she has managed to stay mostly grounded, while other superstars go crazy by the minute. Britney has freed herself, but her fans have questioned her behavior lately, and worried if it was premature to release her from her guardianship.
Mariah is the only one of the living legends who actually seem to have her s**t together, keep it going, Mariah, I'm rooting for you.

I don't know if any of y'all follow the twitter account "Nostradamus Prediction" - they report on upcoming music. They reported (they like to call it predictions - but it's clearly somebody connected who gets info a few weeks before it's out) the Latto collaboration long before it was released and lots of other news for other artists and they are mostly pretty accurate.
Attached is a link stating that the first single from MC16 will be out mid June.
They have also reported on a Weekend collaboration, and while ago reported a big collaboration with another female other than Brandy and Latto (which Mariah confirmed the other night).

I think MC feels it makes sense right now to allow her to collaborate with as many Atlanta based producers and songwriters and extend the Butterfly Lounge well into 2023 recording MC16. She kind of alluded to this on a most recent chat with Lambs. She also mentioned during the chat that more collaborations with Dev Hynes and Brandy are on the way and a special collaboration with another female artist.

Why Hotlanta (100,266)
by Brad from USA

I was wondering what would make Mariah wish to live in Atlanta? Obviously, it isn't particularly my or any other person's business but I was just curious. That area seems to have a good amount of industry folks there, particularly of the African-American community. Her work with JD has taken place there for many years. I just wasn't sure if there was something more, such as a family connection or something. I know she relocated her mom recently to Florida from the Westchester Co. area, so perhaps to be close-ish to her? Although, I'm not convinced of how close they are with one another nowadays. I thought it was related to some projects she was working on like her book-to-movie adaptation, which can take time. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

Mariah's should be #1 record:
1. Vision of love 2. Love takes time 3. Someday 4. I don't wanna cry 5. Emotions 6. Can't let go (should not have suspended sales) 7. I'll be there 8. Dreamlover 9. Hero 10. Fantasy 11. One sweet day 12. Always be my baby 13. Honey 14. My all 15. Heartbreaker 16. Thank God I found you 17. Loverboy (original) 18. Out here on my own (as per your note) 19. We belong together 20. Don't forget about us 21. Touch my body 22. Migrate 23. All I want for Christmas is you 24. Crapfinity (just kidding)

Loverboy and Out Here On My Own from Rarities should have been in Glitter. Out Here On My Own would be the perfect ending song in the movie (replacing Never Too Far) and be the second single from Glitter. Imagine Mariah belting the last chorus in the final concert scene in the movie. The lyrics fit perfectly with Billie Frank's storyline where she was all on her own after Dice left, and the mother too. Loverboy and Out Here On My Own would be Mariah's 16th and 17th No 1 on Billboard charts.

Completely agree with Loverboy. My other three would be:
1. Here We Go Around Again on the debut 2. Can You Hear Me on Emotions 3. Slipping Away on Daydream

Best album addition? (100,260)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada

Of all the songs on The Rarities abum, which do you think would have added the most to the experience and enjoyment of respective album it was recorded for? (No, you don't have to replace a song to add the new one from The Rarities.)
My selections in preferred album are: 1) Mesmerized (MIAM) 2) Here we go again (debut) 3) One night (Daydream)
And yes, The Rarities version of Loverboy should have been the single and album version, so it's off the table for this discussion.
