Memoirs is an attempt at Butterfly II (99,943) by Randy from USA Don't curse me out. But uptempo lead hinting at her personal life (Obsessed). Emotional singles such as HATEU (My All) and IWKWLI (80s remake like The Beautiful Ones). A strong spine as in Standing O and It's A Wrap. And introspective non-love tracks like Angel and Languishing interludes. I love the album, not as much as Butterfly, not even close. But I feel that's what it is. We all know who Shawn is and we know all the Allison drama. The tragedy is that Allison has never cleaned up her own life despite much help and input from her family. How can we forget Ms. Abdul dancing with a cat? I think Mariah's became the blueprint for many others because of her already established influence on pop, how deeply contrasted she and ODB were, the success of the song, and the timing of release. Fantasy remains one of my favorites to this day and I still love when I hear DJs play it. A timeless crowd pleaser. (Thursday 17 March 2022; 11:22)
