Re: Your relationship with the Number Ones, today (99,524) (99,528) by Bill from the UK
Always here for a list.

Vision of Love - Always play it, and it's just a joyous and perfect as when I first heard it. Perfection.
Love Takes Time - I rarely play this but always enjoy it when I do.
Someday - One of my jams. I also hate that Mariah hates it. I love all the remixes and play them often.
I Don't Wanna Cry - Always skip, never listen to it.
Emotions - Love this so much and play it a few times a week.
I'll Be There - Always play this as I always play Unplugged. Fantastic performance.
Dreamlover - Play at least once a week, love it to death.
Hero - Rarely play it, usually skip, but when the mood takes me, I love it.
Without You - UK Addition - Love it and always play this. If only for the nostalgia.
Fantasy - Album version always, remix version not much.
One Sweet Day - Not much, and when I do, it's either the Chucky or Acapella version.
Always Be My Baby - Love to death and always play.
Honey - As above.
My All - Agree that the album, club and rap mixes are all sublime.
Heartbreaker - Rarely play either version.
Thank God I Found You - As above.
Against All Odds - UK Addition - As above.
We Belong Together - Play occasionally, always been indifferent to it.
Don't Forget About Us - Rarely play it.
Touch My Body - As above.
All I Want for Christmas Is You - Her best song ever.

Re: Rarities 2 (99,525) (99,527) by Bobby A from United States
It will probably happen in the fall. I need to hear When I Feel It, Reaching For The Sky, Skydiving, Where Are You Christmas?, the Bobby Ross Avila song, the remaining Poo Bear songs, Bring It On Home, We're Not Making Love Anymore, and Candy Bling remix.

Great post, Randy.

Rarities 2 (99,525) by Tevin from USA
Do you think Mariah will drop a Rarities 2 this year or just stick with her Butterfly Lounge remakes and jam sessions, and drop Rarities 2 next year? What musical eras do you think she will pull songs from to put into Rarities 2? More 90s material or more 2000+ material?

Your relationship with the Number Ones, today (99,524) by Randy from USA
It was quiet and so I thought of this idea, even though you all hate lists and poor Eric has to edit this stuff. But what is your current relationship with each #1?

Vision of Love - I only listen to the live early performances these days. Not on any of my playlists so doesn't come up in the car.
Love Takes Time - A pleasant surprise when I hear it but don't actually seek it out.
Someday - I listen to the video version all the time. I hate that she hates it.
I Don't Wanna Cry - I like the Daydream era live performances, other than that I never seek it out.
Emotions - Too played out. I skip it when it comes up.
I'll Be There - Never play it.
Dreamlover - Never play this one either.
Hero - I only listen to this with the Never Too Far mashup.
Fantasy - I only play the version with both choruses (Bad Boy Mix) but usually skip it.
One Sweet Day - I only play this when I feel like singing (it's in my key).
Always Be My Baby - Too played out. I skip it when it comes on.
Honey - I love the bad boy version and know all of Mase's verse.
My All - My favorite number one. Someone here showed it some love. Truthfully I play every version. David Morales Classic Mix, Stay Awhile remix. I love every live performance of it during that era.
Heartbreaker - Still love this but I don't play the remix as often. I think Missy's verse is corny and doesn't rhyme.
Thank God I Found You - I love all versions and I sing this one constantly as well (it's in my key).
We Belong Together - I only like hearing this once in awhile. Fun fact this is the easiest song of hers to play on the keyboard. Once you get past the intro it's literally the same four chords the entire song.
Don't Forget About Us - I live for her climax on this. I butcher this one and don't care. It's a pleasant surprise when it comes up on my 2000s playlist.
Touch My Body - This is a pleasant surprise when it comes up on my 2000s playlist but it's not a fave.

Whooo that was a lot.

Re: Where is everybody? (99,521) (99,523) by Bill from the UK
There's not much going on really in "Mariah's World" to fuel conversation. Rarities 2 is needed ASAP.

I think she has 1 new era left in her.

From Saturday to Monday, there were only 29 posts. Where is everybody?

Caution the last great album (99,520) by T from USA
I would be okay if Caution represents the last studio album Mariah releases. Going forward if she just "re-imagines" old songs and reissues anniversary editions with Rarities I would be satisfied.

Re: My All (99,514) (99,519) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yes, what a song. It's pure Mariah at her best. I'll always like Mr. Jeter just because he insprired Mariah to write and sing those wonderful songs.

Jazz album (99,518) by Bobby A from United States
I found David Sanborn's Live jazz album Straight From The Heart this weekend. It really has a nice R&B feel to it produced by Marcus Miller (Luther Vandross). It would have been nice in the 1990s if MC collaborated with David Sanborn and Marcus Miller.

Re: Mimi in new Super Bowl Halftime commercial (99,494) (99,517) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Absolutely no to Eminem. It's not even about ego at this point. This man has been extensively verbally abusive towards Mariah. Yes I know it's his style of rap but nope Mariah does not deserve this. No self respecting individual would pull that move just to get views or go viral. Eminem is talented no doubt (even Mariah admits to it) but the way he attacked her for no reason is just not acceptable and I hope she never has to deal with him again. If it comes to ending feuds the only feud I'd want her to put aside is Nicki because Nicki was a Mini fan girl and I feel the producers kinda sparked the "feud" by hyping up both parties. I think Mariah and Nicki's chemistry is fire. "Up out of my face" remix still slays to this day.

DFAU (99,516) by Bobby A from United States
Yay or nay? Don't Forget About Us should be re-recorded for a slow jam quiet storm mix. We need something for Valentine's Day. I just tweeted MC.

That makes sense. Her drummer is so good looking. I think Trey lives in Atlanta now.

My All (99,514) by Bill from the UK
I'm sitting in subdued lighting, listening to My All on my noise-cancelling headphones. What a song. Imagine being Mr. Jeter and having this song written about you. It's so subtle, but has so many layers. And those lyrics. It's just sublime.

iTunes top 100 (99,513) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Does anyone here check the iTunes top 100 charts regularly? I do, maybe once a month or something, but just the R'n'B charts. What I have noticed, is that Whitney, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner and Alicia Keys are always present with a few songs on the chart, Whitney with the most, almost always at least four songs.

But the last few months, Mariah's Fantasy has been everpresent quite high on the charts, surely because of Free Guy. But Always Be My Baby has also been on the charts regularly the past few months. Besides those, Mariah rarely makes it to the top 100 a part from Hero or Without You occasionally.

The countries where there's a chance of finding Mariah on the R'n'B top 100 are USA, Brazil, Greece, UK, France and Australia

Re: Why the secrecy (99,506) (99,512) by 123 from USA
Her band live in Atlanta so she bought a house there so they can jam together and make music. The first Butterfly Lounge was in Atlanta where I think the Butterfly Lounge project was primarily filmed. When she was having trouble finding a place there she mentioned it in passing to Tyler Perry and he found her a home same day.

Re: Mariah Carey 1990 debut in Spotify (99,504) (99,511) by Terna from Nigeria
This had been on my mind for quite sometime on and off. It is time for those numbers to be updated, The first album especially has been 9x Platinum since the early to mid 2000's that should have crossed well over 10 million by now being that Mariah is still relevant and active even today, about the only act that debuted in 1990 still releasing stuff. I think there should be a push by her team to get RIAA to update her catalogue's numbers, not just the first album.

Re: Album re-release (99,507) (99,510) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I always thought Last Chance and Head Over Heels were originally and left overs from Butterfly. Then she changed her mind and gave it to Allure.

Re: Album re-release (99,507) (99,509) by T from USA
Those tracks were probably left off for a reason. I can't imagine making [Butterfly] any longer with leftovers inserted throughout. I would rather prefer a separate Rarities album in which we can listen to individually if the actual parent album from which it originated.

Larrance Dopson (99,508) by Bobby A from United States
Larrance Dopson is one of the writers on 8th Grade. He co-wrote the mega hit Boo'd Up with Joella James that launched Ella Mai's career. He primarily works with DJ Mustard. I wonder what was his contribution to 8th Grade. Hopefully, MC has reached out to Joella James. She is very good with coming up melodies.

Album re-release (99,507) by Will from England
I was thinking, what if Mariah re-released her early albums up to Memoirs, but restructure them to have some of the already released songs but also to have some demos and unreleased tracks? It would be a cool way to have her rarities part 2 moment but not have to pick select tracks for just one release. There have been so many songs that she has said didn't make the cut for the final albums, she could do something creative for them.

Why the secrecy (99,506) by Bobby A from United States
Why do you think MC is being so secret this time about what she is releasing this year? I think that there is a new potential recording deal that she is strategizing and she does not want to lose her contract leveraging power before the deal is sealed. I know on Twitter Spaces she has said several times that, "They get upset with me when I say too much." Could she be referring to Melissa and the executives at Range Media? Whatever she is releasing, will be her most anticipated release of her career. I envision a MC16 double album with The Butterfly Lounge or the Rarities 2 as disc 2. I am hoping for new vinyl in her store including Somebody's Ugly Daughter and Glitter. Yeah, what is up with buying a house in Sandy Springs, GA? Which is not Buckhead but close to it. Just my thoughts.

Re: Mimi in new Super Bowl Halftime commercial (99,499) (99,505) by T from USA
Ummm. She "rehashes" it every time she performs the song. She could leave it behind altogether but she doesn't. She also recently did a Tik Tok using the song dressed as Eminem.

Mariah Carey 1990 debut in Spotify (99,504) by Horacio from United States
Does anyone have access to the streaming numbers for each individual song from the debut album? I wanna see how close we are to getting that 10x Platinum (Diamond) RIAA certification.

If Mariah Carey (1990) and Merry Christmas both become Diamond, Mariah would be the only female artist with 4 Diamond RIAA-certified albums.
