She's totally trump. I can only hope he gets his face eaten by a dinosaur too.

Re: Record exec - day to day management (99,321) (99,322) by Bobby A from United States
I have to agree with you that MC should go with Netflix. She needs to reach a wider audience with Butterfly Lounge. I don't think Apple could that because they don't hold the streaming market like Netflix. Plus, she is probably going to use the streaming service to promote 25th anniversary of Butterfly.

@Robert-Anthony. What streaming service do you think she should go with to release The Butterfly Lounge? I say Netflix, but I think she will go with Apple since they already have an existing relationship.

Re: Never Forget You (99,316) (99,320) by Bill from the UK
Again, not true. Mariah was asked to pick from the producers from the debut after Margulies was axed, and she chose Walter as the one to work with. She has said her favourite song from Emotions was And You Don't Remember (Afanasieff), her favourite from Music Box is AYNAF (Afanasieff), her favourite from Merry Christmas is AIWFCIY (Afanasieff), her favourite from Daydream is Underneath the Stars (Afanasieff) and her favourite from Butterfly is Close My Eyes (Afanasieff).

And of course, if a nobody reactor on YouTube doesn't like Music Box then that must be reflective of the record buying public.

This is all completely made up, speculative, and fabricated.

Why hasn't MC covered this song? This is the perfect cover song for her to put on MC16.

Re: Never Forget You (99,304) (99,316) by Nikki from usa
I'm not sure if the point is nostalgia for Mariah's older fanbase or if they're legit talking new music. Where new music is concerned, that stuff doesn't play well these days. Music reactors on YouTube from this time period also seem to be unanimous in not liking the Music Box album the most from her catalog. They find it boring.

Meanwhile, Mariah doesn't like the work she did with Walter. She always says the music is too "schmaltzy". I know Walter likes to say he was under contract as the company line. However, everyone was under contract, including Mariah. She still had albums to deliver. They split in '97 and she was on the label until '01.

Re: Can't sing diss 1999 (99,311) (99,315) by Nikki from usa
Well, even the media knew that. There were plenty of incidences of Lopez dressing like her exactly. Even a magazine spread was identical. In one picture, the media actually confused her with Mariah and claimed Mariah was leaving a restaurant. Rainbow had to be pushed back to push Lopez's debut first, despite MC having to finish the record in 3 months. It's partly why she signed up to do Divas Live 2000. She announced that Mahogany song she'd tribute to Diana Ross. Lopez recorded it and slapped it on as a bonus to her debut in Europe. So, the label said Mariah couldn't release her version for 2000. Then, she was greenlit to start promoting her Rainbow project. She didn't have time to make a replacement record. Carey promoted her version, but had to do a last minute smash up of Love Hangover with Heartbreaker as her official tribute. She was making it during Divas rehearsals, so she didn't have time to rehearse prior to the show despite opening for the event. She did it impromptu opening night.

Since the president's played by Streep - do you think this is an ongoing joke about how Mariah stole her seat during the award show?

1990-2000, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2019-2022 (99,313) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
Mariah Carey has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 18 years. She is truly the queen of Billboard. Too bad that #Beautiful (2013) and A No No (2019) were not promoted enough to top the charts. Those two singles, the only recent singles by Mariah after 2010 onward, are worth to be on the top, in my opinion.

Record exec - day to day management (99,312) by 123 from USA
Interesting that Mariah revealed that she met with a former record exec who she used to work with to have talks regarding management. Does this mean she is leaving Range Media? Or is this person responsible for day to day management while Range works on bringing in deals and creating the promotional campaigns for all her projects? Any thoughts who it could be? LA Ried? Lyor? What other record execs have been over Def Jam while she was signed to them. Thoughts? She has The Butterfly Lounge concept she is trying to pitch to steaming services in the works, new music, reworkings of old songs, the film adaptation of her book, a children's book/series, and the re-release of Someone's Ugly Daughter with a young girl/actress singing the songs. It will be interesting how all these projects will roll out and what the promotional campaign will be. Will any of these projects be released simultaneously? I did like that her current team had her do like 100 virtual interviews with tons of outlets all over the world for 2021s Christmas campaign. When was the last time she did an interview for the Philippines, Brazil, Mexico etc. it really is a global business world now and hitting all your markets virtually is a no brainer.

Never saw this behind the scenes clip. Mariah knew even in 1999 what Tommy was doing. Replacing her.

Re: Why the ugly clothes? (99,302) (99,307) by RibbonB from USA
Not the buffalo plaid dress. She dies make interesting choices. The casual, ski wear should be easy. Even in her more voluptuous shape, she should still be able to look great.

Re: Never Forget You (99,304) (99,306) by T from USA
It's not that. Nobody wants her to go backward they just want to hear those classical melodies that her and Walter managed to pull out of each other. Walter mostly works with artists over fifty. Well news flash - that's Mariah. And not in a dismissive way but in a she's the boss way. She's made it to a point where people will relish in those classic MC sounds.

Good/bad news (99,305) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
So as you can see I'm from a tiny island in the Caribbean of 1.4 million total population. So our market does not make a dent or impact in the grand scheme of anything. I'm saying this to say the radio stations (yes plural) have FILAC on repeat. I just can't understand it. I have not even heard All I Want.... for the season. That's the good news, the bad news is the more I hear it the more it sounds ok.

Re: Never Forget You (99,300) (99,304) by Steve from USA
I don't know about all that. A straightforward ballad or two would be ok, though we aren't going to get that from Mariah. As a lamb and fan since '90, I have zero desire to see her go back and work with Walter again. The general public doesn't want her to work with him again, because they have no idea who Walter A is or that she ever stopped working with him. This persistence by some fans to see her go back and work with Walter again is really dismissive of her talent as a songwriter. She can, and has, worked with many other people and created beautiful ballads. She has no need for a Michael Bolton collaborator from the early 90s.

Straight forward singing (99,303) by T from USA
I know Mariah loves the sound of Fall In Love At Christmas with all the different voices and sounds but I also have this belief from talking to a lot of people that if she just had some straight forward singing songs, just her voice in just one octave, she would resonate with the audience again. Some may say that was Caution, and I say yes. Caution was a step in the right direction.

Re: Why the ugly clothes? (99,301) (99,302) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Hahaha the jiffy pop jacket is a Lanvin dahlin'. Mariah is probably inspired by the Kim K's puffy jacket vibes. I don't mind the jacket but that jacket with that Prada bucket hat was a mess through and through. But I'll take that over her table cloth gown days any day haha.

Re: Why the ugly clothes? (99,298) (99,301) by RibbonB from USA
Does that explain the ugly though? Who made the jiffy pop jacket though? Why did she decide to wear it?

Never Forget You (99,300) by Bobby A from United States
I was thinking about the Babyface sound today and Never Forget You came to my mind. I am just wondering could MC sing it in the same key today. She recorded it in her head voice. I think that she could do it with proper rest. Lambs, oh how I wish MC would return back to these straight forward songs with every song on MC16. She would be surprised how radio and the buying public would respond to her again. The buying public and radio really hate it when they hear her whistle notes and excessive belting in every song. They want to hear a Walter A. collaboration just like the rest of us. I often wonder how a MC/Walter collaboration would sound today. Their compositions were so recognizable back in the 90s. Just me thinking again the day after Christmas. Lol.
