I just love finding new places to wear diamonds (110,004)
by Stacey from USA

Me too. I grew up on old movies. My dad played them all the time. Names like Jack Lemmon, Rock Hudson, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, Clark Gable were staples in my house. Let's not forget the master of suspense: Alfred Hitchcock. Wait Until Dark is a classic.

"Folks just need to stop feeling like it's their duty to set others straight, to reprimand" is not a direct "hit" on you. It's not even an jnsult. Good grief, lol. But rather a general statement toward all those in the 20+ years I've been posting here who act like that. But you keep thinking you are right about me fooling people all these years into thinking I'm a saint. It's laughable to make judgements about someone you've never met in real life. But you keep thinking you are right about me. My posts and overall conduct the past 20 years say otherwise. But keep on thinking you are right.

Yes, we will. Kehlani has a beautiful voice and her song Folded is her biggest streaming song of her career right now. I like Shenseea's song Work Me Out with Wiz Kid. By the way, Halle Berry just posted lyrics from Sugar Sweet for a call-and-response from Lambs. It would be cool if Halle Berry is in the video. Tomorrow is going to be a huge day for MC.

I think Shenseea will be featured mostly throughout the song with no real verse, maybe the bridge, with Mariah on 1st verse and Kehlani on 2nd verse. Or maybe it's formatted with a call-and-response verse where MC and Kehlani go back and forth on the verses, MC has the hook and bridge and Shenseea is also throughout the whole song with ad-libs. We'll see tomorrow.

Do you think Shenseea will sing her part first after Mariah's first verse and then Kehlani? I thought it was odd that Shenseea's name is first before Kehlani's name.

She's a dancehall artist (Jamaican - Vybz Kartel, Sean Paul, Beenie Man). Afrobeats comes from West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana - Burna Boy, Tems, Wizkid). Almost similar vibes but different genres. Often understandably confused with one another since some of Afrobeats influence comes from dancehall.

Actually no. I've been rather chill. I literally ride the "reprimand" joke at this point. I mean my album title was, Reprimanded: The Art Of Hibernation. But it is a drum that a couple people here keeps beating, I don't know why. There was really no need for a subtle diss. But I hope this ends it. Trying to enjoy the roll out of Here For It All.

I've seen single covers for SS that have the "explicit content" warning on them. *sigh* I've never been a fan of cuss words in music. To me it adds nothing to the song. Up until a few years ago, I was always grateful MC stayed away from that trend. Now f-words are flying all over the place. End of rant, lol.

It's the best. The same with movies you really love to have on DVD or BluRay. They are like treasures. I love to read the notes in booklet or just look at the pictures too. To collect music on pysical copy is so much fun. I just ordered a Hans Zimmer CD for my soundtrack collection. And of course in september Mariah will rock the sound system.

I have an issue with your statement regarding her looks. If anyone of the celebrities that I see, she looks more natural than any of them. I can't see lip injections, filers or whatever women torture them self with these days (Kardashians reference).
If she did had job done, she has done it pretty damn good because she looks normal and not like a cat in heat.

I agree with all you said. As you said about the walls, I think she spend too much time listening to her old music and that doesn't give her new ideas or inspiration. As Cher said when the interviewer asked her about listening to her own music, she was like "No, I'm not a big Cher fan." I have got the impression that MC is a big Mariah Carey fan. She obviously hate aging, and I believe she is obsessed about looking perfect at all time, also on stage (look at her performances in 1990-91 and compare the facial expressions then and now/or the early 2000). Some people call her a vampire because it looks like she's not aging, I would love if she didn't put all that poison in her face and rather aged naturally with grace and style. It's too much plastic now.

Speaking about covers (109,986)
by Dove from United States

I love this question. Sometimes I wish I was good at AI so I could remake these in Mariah's voice.
01.) Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney 02.) Good Vibrations - Beach Boys (with the original instrumentation) 03.) Feeling Good - Nina Simone 04.) Silver Springs - Fleetwood Mac 05.) The Chain - Fleetwood Mac 06.) We are the Champions - Queen 07.) My Tears Ricochet - Taylor Swift
I know most of these were already hits but they were hits for a reason. A good song is a good song. (I'm sorry I couldn't stick to five.)

Again unbelievably inaccurate. Look at my response. I simply debunked the insinuation of me bringing "bad vibes", I've been having fun with the discussions here and really enjoy giving Mariah love. Far from "bitchy and petty diatribe".
If you actually wanna talk about petty, look at the contrast of how we treated an exiting lamb. I wished him well and your sentiment to him is, "I'm dead serious, if you go, you can never twerk with us again."
Mariah felt like an outsider and many of her fans connected to her with that. So it's safe to say a lot of lambs is simply looking for a place of connection and belonging. I mean sure, Brad may have had his moments and you can have all the disagreement you want with him but that no one should be rejoicing when someone permanently leaves. It's giving "you have no place in the fandom". You can virtue signal all you want but people can see who the true bullies are.

My issue with MC for the last decade or so has been she's super obsessed with her physical image - she is afraid of aging and always recreating the past. What made all her imagery great in the 90s was that it was natural, not contrieved and shot by masters of their craft. Seeing her imitate the past just reeks desperation and lazy. You get the feeling her house is labeled head to toe with all her album booklet imagery. I would have less of an issue if I felt like she would put as much effort into recorded music. I remain hopeful for new music however the small snippet of here for it all sounds really chipmunk and sliced several times to piece together one syllable. Tell me this with a callous heart I'm just trying to articulate that I think she would benefit from putting the mirror down and start putting pen of paper and work on her vocal recovery. I think she's a victim of too much cosmetic surgery and too many mirrors in the house.

Covers (109,983)

I like all three covers because I can see the connection of previous photos of her - first one has written Glitter all over, third one reminds me of a photo shoot she did when she had lace cover over her face and the second one reminds me from a photo shot back in Butterfly era when she is sitting on couch with wavy hair and touching her toes.
Regarding the shady, bitter and bad vibes here - what do I know, I don“t even go here. And I had to google and ask my daughter what the hell does that mean.

Obsessed with physical image (109,982)
by Dove from United States

I think most women are obsessed with our physical image and not aging. Whether we admit it or not. There's a lot of pressure on us to always be beautiful and fit. If it's hard for me, I can't imagine what it must feel like for an aging celebrity.
If you look at her social media platforms she's wearing age appropriate clothes. For interviews she does the diva gowns but I feel like that's for the "character".
I don't have a problem with her wearing sexy outfits for photo shoots or videos. She looks good in them but even if she didn't - it's her own creative expression. She's an artist.

More thoughts about the album covers (109,981)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
Mimi L, I was thinking about your comments about the covers (mostly because you're the one who had the most thoughts about them). It's funny to me how your opinions are so opposite to mine. (Not saying my opinions are right or better, just interesting how people can view things so differently.)
I actually really like the black leather looking outfit because it looks good on her and sorta looks like a superhero costume. I like all the diamonds because it makes me think, "She earned those diamonds." Celebrities are American royalty and not everyone can pull off wearing a huge diamond necklace. It suits who she is. Also, most people borrow jewelry for photo shoots but she actually owns those.
I get what you're saying about the power stance (and I somewhat agree now after reading your comments), but she's already done that pose on a few album covers. The easy breezy one is different than all of her other album covers. The one with the all black background looks blurry and that's why I don't like that one. My problem with the power stance picture is that her face doesn't look like her face to me. But otherwise I wouldn't mind that being the album cover.

Absolutely. "It's us, the middle aged fans, that listen to her music, and I find those kind of lyrics a little immature and not artistically deep or clever." I also don't like the "three h. a. h". It ruins the song a bit. It sounds vulgar, as a teen I wouldn't care but I prefer lyrics without that. I enjoy the remixes, but I hope the next song has more mature lyrics. I'm tired of swear words in music. I don't need it, trend or not.
