Re: Want to miss her (97,165) (97,170) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Strongly angry with this. We live in a time now when you gotta get as much exposure as you can get because once you're in the shadows you might not be out of it again. Today's audience has a nano second memory span. If you're out of sight you're truly out of mind. Also agree we need a E=MC2 type album, basically an album which is a compilation of single material songs, if she is to get some success again. Like Beyoncé once said, no one really listens to a full album anymore. It's all about that right single right now. #JusticeForMigrate

Mariah (97,169) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
For those who want to miss her, tune Mariah out. She made it clear that the conclusion of MC30 would resume in 2021. As for the new album: she has not dropped any hints as to who she is going to work with. Jermaine is not the only person who lives in Atlanta who she can work with. Daniel Moore also lives in Atlanta, also his wife is pregnant, and is expected to give birth. Also JD, and B.Cox are both in LA right now working. There are many other great artists, and producers who are in Atlanta for MC to work with. But I am sure that she will clock in some studio time with her main people at some point. But allow her to get some creative ideas flowing first before we dismiss the final outcome.

Unfortunately she suffers from delusions of grandeur and we'll get another album that'll be produced by "ya'll know what this isn't".

She thinks Caution wasn't successful because of the release schedule of songs from it, if that where so, wouldn't said songs have been hits before the album dropped?

Anyway, live and hope.

Mariah is riding high. She needs the momentum and she has it. Disappearing for several years now would be the nail in the coffin. She needs a Summer album. She needs an E=MC2 now. Not a Caution.

I've been saying this since 2011. Not gonna happen. Even the "panoramic" as they say, didn't stop her. She's got all her dependents to provide for lol.

I wish not to see or hear Mariah for a year or two. Then, after that, she will surprise everyone with a new single and album. Not from the vault but fresh lyrics and sound. However, knowing her, she cannot stay away from the limelight. That's why it's just a wish.

Sorry, but I respectfully decline. I myself would never engage in conversation with you about anything remotely tied to POC and what we have suffered for over 400 years.

I enjoyed the interview. Great conversation between all of them. One thing for sure is that Mariah has worked hard to cement her place. She can tell her story however way she wants.

Re: Quest Supreme interview pt. 2 (97,147) (97,158) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
"Mariah is not comfortable with aging and feels only secure when she's sexy over the top. You can't be an actor with these kinds of hang ups."

She's overly self-conscious. You are right; this quality does not a good actress make. She can't even convincingly act like she's singing her own songs on stage. In An Christmas Melody, she directs that ever my shot of her should be a softly lit closeup of the right side of her face. It truly reflects obsessed/nuts she is when it comes to her appearance that she would rather make a weird movie than be in an unflattering shot for one second.

So I just rewatched Mariah's part in Precious and it's not good. Mo'Nique's performance, however, is truly remarkable and her not receiving the Academy Award would have been outrageous. When she reveals why she hates Precious and cries I both felt sorry for her and despised her at the same time. Also at the same time Mariah looked like a six year old having just been chastised for stealing candy.

Glitter's failure in the The Fiction of Mariah Carey is put down to everyone else but her and her bad acting is, apparently, not her fault. My cat could act better than she did in that film. And now according to the interview she says "Glitter was whitewashed... literally". It seems here she is suggesting white prolly made it bad. Which would continue her current artistic license in painting herself as a Black woman suffering at the hands of white people. However, the only whitewashing going on in Mariah's representation of her own acting ability.

Mariah Carey is a brilliant singer-songwriter. But she should leave the acting and directing to professionals.

I agree. Mutual respect was shared and it was amazing. All of the tangents made up or were a lead up to the answer. I felt it was one of my favorite interviews oh hers ever. Also loved the one when Caution came out. To me it shows just how intellectual Mariah is on music and many things. Have a great week everyone.

I don't recall the book talking about Honey being different at first to what was released.

Maybe Clive will be able to give her a big streaming release with a virtual red carpet during Covid. Well obviously you didn't see it, but quite a few people saw it. I don't believe any of these ladies will have a huge theatrical draw just on merits, that will be tied to the actors involved at this point. Whitney in particular has been over saturated already with docs and biopics and Bobby's biopic. Maybe theatres will really open up by 2022 or 2023 though.

Re: Biopic battle (97,152) (97,154) by Will from Australia
Ha ok. I'm talking biopic on the scale of Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody theatrical release rather than some Lifetime TV thing which nobody sees. Anyway I'm looking forward to all three.

"Whitney is a 2015 American biographical film directed by Angela Bassett", Wikipedia

"The movie stars Yaya DaCosta as Houston, Arlen Escarpeta as Brown and Yolonda Ross as Houston's longtime friend and road manager Robyn Crawford."

Re: Biopic battle (97,149) (97,152) by RibbonB from USA
YaYa DaCosta, directed by Angela Bassett. Wikipedia has all the details. It was ok, aired on Lifetime.

Ugh I hate when autocorrect changes a word after so already proofread it. Voice should be Clive and Vivid, Covid in my previous post. It almost said voice twice in this post. Annoying.

The book came out less than 4 months ago. I'm sure that many who listen to the podcast haven't gotten it yet/don't know all the stories the way we do so promoting it makes sense.

The biggest tell that you aren't a fan is saying she puts Tommy down too much given what we know. Shame on you.

Walter (97,150) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Based on the interview with QuestLove I gathered that while Mariah is grateful for the experience, and the success of their work together, that chapter in her life has been written, and she would not like to revisit it when it comes to working with him again.

Whitney was a documentary not a biopic. Who played Whitney in it? Exactly.

We probably will not receive a MC16 release this year. MC is not going to rush recording it. I can wait until she is ready to release it. I just want that Bruno Mars collaboration.

Quest Supreme interview pt. 2 (97,144) (97,147) by ADAM from USA
I couldn't agree with your comments anymore. I found it ridiculous how much QuestLove kept gushing over her 8 minute cameo in Precious. She read a few lines in incognito appearance. Not more should be made of it. She's a terrible actress and shouldn't be encouraged to make more movies. Mariah is not comfortable with aging and feels only secure when she's sexy over the top. You can't be an actor with these kinds of hang ups. I wished QuestLove was more prepared and didn't ask questions that were addressed in the book and also wished he stopped her from her tangents. Way too many. She always repeats the same stories. This could have been a better showcase for her to talk about her extensive catalog, producing partners, jazz music, voice changes, etc. I did appreciate her speaking about Walter A. It seemed like she was throwing some shade towards him. I wished she was asked why she excluded him from the book when he was very critical to her success in the early 90s. Would want to hear in her own words if they would work again. Her always been so positive about her. I also feel like she shits on Tommy so much when his guidance was the reason why she's relevant today - Christmas anyone?

Re: Biopic battle (97,141) (97,146) by RibbonB from USA
Whitney from 2015. A biopic is a biographical movie, which is what this was. But anyway, there's not much Voice can say. Her story has been told. Not sure if a big screen telling will be any bigger, but in the time if Vivid, it'll likely be on tv anyway, on Netflix or some such streaming service.
