Brad; isn't it funny? They all come crying, Nick and others, that black lives matter and how they are the victims of bigotry. Mention Jews and/or gays, and you start to see true colours appear.

Nick (94,643)
by Bobby A from United States

Nick has apologized for what he said. He has lost a lot in the past four days. He posted on Twitter that his community is calling him a sell-out for apologizing. Also, he posted some concerning cryptic messages about his current mental health. He is a human being who made a mistake. He is a father to 4 beautiful children. I wish the media and other critics would leave him alone. Pray for Nick.

Hey. I don't post much either. Too busy these days. Dubbed or not, her voice was simply amazing. Love Don't Play That Song and Vanishing.

To be fair though that whole performance was a big mishap with missed cues and having to play catch up on her part. Not surprised it was included.

The Live Debut 1990 (94,640)

Just purchased the EP and I'm loving every minute of it especially Love Takes Time, there's just something about that song that takes me there. Then the surprise Vanishing performance which is a first listen for me and quite a pleasant surprise. I love the raw unedited, unpolished feel and sound this EP has - the unbalanced sound levels, with the instrumentation sometimes louder than the vocals makes it comes across as authentic and untouched.

It was dubbed, you can tell the differences in pitching when watching the DVD vs what MC just put out. Plus, the most obvious is the whistle on Don't Play That Song. But it's all good. I am glad she is breaking away from everything having to be 100% perfect. I can live with 99.9%.

Just bought the live EP. Super stoked to see what the other goodies are. Great way to start the weekend. Hope everyone is well. I haven't posted in ages, but I'm still happy I was one of the lucky ones to get a signed AIWFCIY single from her website. They had a glitch on the site and I was one of the first to order so I got a signed one even though I don't live in the US. Yay.

Don't Play That Song (94,635)

I never had The First Vision VHS so Don't Play That Song is completely new to me, and I'm loving it. Definitely hear the Aretha in it. Such a treat to have something new to me from 20 year old Mariah, truly a #MC30 moment. I'm a bigger fan of her vocals stylings as she progressed but it's great to hear the raw power in this early performance.

I own the debut "First Vision" VHS. The Tattoo Club performance was never dubbed over, so the performance remains to this day in its original state. I watched it everyday after school for almost a year, I was obsessed.

I always found her undubbed vocals better. It's so much more real, like she's in the room with you. This is why I also loved St John the Divine so much because it is her "once through" singing voice. The weaker whistle on Don't Play That Song just proves she can genuinely hit those notes and like everybody she is human. The EP is beautiful, I can't stop playing it.

I am really enjoying the undubbed vocals on the Live Debut EP. The whistle in Don't Play That Song is weaker than anyone had previously heard but raw.

MC thank you for giving us life with this. My first time seeing you live was at the Centrum in November 1993. You even spoke of that performance in People. This "new" EP will be blasting from my car for sometime, windows down and mask on. Be well and enjoy everyone.

Wow, so we get a lovely HQ version of the Tatou Club performance (minus Someday). On Insta MC said how there will be remixes, b sides, live performances etc. I'm most excited about the b sides. If we get songs from the prime years (Can You Hear Me) I will be so, so happy.

How am I wrong? I'm not saying Mariah hasn't been inspired by rnb, I'm asking a question based on something she said back at the start of her career about what she was more inspired by.
Whitney was booed at the Soul Train Awards back in 1988 for what some considered her being too white.

MC 30 every Friday (94,625)
by Terna from Nigeria

This is going to be interesting to see what she's got in store for the Lambs in celebration of her iconic 30 years in the industry. Wow. 30 years should be fun. I predict that a lot of unreleased tracks especially from the debut era are gonna see the light of day, but in hierarchical order starting from the debut era to present day. Songs like "Into The Light", "Here we go round again", as well as other songs like "Alive" and "Reach for the sky" have a very good chance of making it out (recall that compilation album rumor that was floating around circa 2015). However most importantly, the video for "Underneath The Stars", lol won't that be epic? Another 20 plus year old song crashing into number one and tying with The Beatles. Haha. I think Mariah has developed a taste for making older songs hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Lol. What a time to be a Lamb.

Nick (94,624)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

Nick really stuck his foot in his month with his latest moment of over sharing. Honestly I am not surprised by his antics because he loves the attention. The only reason he decided to humble himself, and actually apologize is because he was going to lose his jobs at Fox next. Nick embarrassed himself, and had to clean up his mess all by himself like an adult. Hopefully he has learned his lesson, to think before you speak, and if not he will suffer further consequences in the future. I am just glad that M is no longer tied to him as his wife.

Scott, you are wrong. Like Gee said, Mariah has also been inspired by R&B equally as much as gospel. If Mariah had her way we would hear much more R&B from early work.
Whitney was made out to be white? Her first single only charted in R&B chart. Her second single topped the R&B chart even Clive Davis said they wanted to establish her first in the black music market. But it did crossover unexpectedly and it peaked at #3 on the Hot 100.

Yes, agree, but she did make a point early on in her career about what music she was really inspired by, which leaves me somewhat confused when she ended up going very rnb. She was way more inspired by gospel rather than rnb which makes me think, was this true or just something she was made to say. Whitney was made to be "white" at the start of her career, which we all know wasn't a true depiction of herself.

Mariah has always been influenced by R&B, as well as gospel. Her influences include Aretha, Minnie, Stevie, Patti, The Clark Sisters. She also loves hip hop which is why she has sampled, and worked with many rappers throughout the years. I am sure that she will touch on her musical identity, and influences in the book as well. Be safe, and enjoy your day Archives family.
