Andrew, I cannot believe you are such a special snowflake. This is not you at all. Battle on. Keep posting. Sadly I think this board will be terribly, terribly dull without you.

Copenhagen concert experience (86,924) by automatic_prince from Germany
I wanted to share my experience at the show in Copenhagen. She really surprised me. First of all, the costumes really didn't look as bad as I initially thought. With the exception of the last one, that one's horrible. Oh and let's not forget about that snow princess hood. Kind of cute from the front, kind of weird from the side. But those are just minor things. Anyone who was worried about that, don't be.

So the arena was huge and almost sold out which was cool to see. The last show I've been to in Munich was much less than half sold out which really hurt me because the SSF tour was so great. Anyway, even though there were so many people the crowd in Copenhagen was kind of reserved and not overly enthusiastic. But maybe that's just the Danish mentality. People only got up from their seats after Mariah told them to get up. But as the show went on and she sang the better known songs the crown came alive and remained standing for the last couple of songs.

I have to say all of the live parts sounded amazing. Not strained or tired at all. Her voice was in such a good shape that there was hardly a differece between the live parts and the prerecorded parts. And I'm pretty sure many of the non lambs there didn't even notice. And I think she even did a live whistle when they lifted her up.

Overall it was a great show and I hope everyone still going to one of the upcoming shows has an amazing time.

Andrew please don't go. Even though I don't always agree with you, your opinions are almost always valid. Hopefully you will come back.

Re: Billboard's Woman of the Year (86,914) (86,922) by jaker20 from US
But Ariana has cited MC as one of her inspirations and influence. But Mariah never acknowledged her back. Mariah needs to be more supportive of these artists who cite her as influence and set aside petty stuff. That's what a true legend does. It will broaden her horizon.

Article: Mariah Carey sits in for Keith Sweat (86,918) by B from USA
Love this. Why doesn't Mariah have her own music channel on SiriusXM Radio like Eminem and Nicki Minaj?

It's about time. Christmas came early this year. This is like Eminem saying he was retiring. I was overjoyed and he still came back. Same situation.

I love how all these young ladies initially say how they idolize Mariah and then all of a sudden they don't even reference her as an influence.

Sad. Andrew was one of the few realistic people here. I really enjoyed his posts.

Billboard's Woman of the Year (86,914) by B from USA
This is an excerpt from Grande's interview. "Now, she looks back on the song as the first time she really captured her own musical style, what she had been searching for while growing up idolizing India.Arie. 'When we made The Way, I was like, Oh, wow, I’m onto something here,” says Grande. The Way sounds like a Mariah Carey song not an India.Arie song.

I like the one from Michael Buble, the star soundtrack (not only because of MC) and the Christmas cd from Elvis.

Her old Christmas album is like wine. It gets better and better. But I also love MC2. Special K. I think I'm still enchanted by yesterday's concert.

Re: Berlin concert (86,908) (86,910) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Luckily I joined the Berlin concert. The 5-hour travelling was definitely worth it. As Manuel said it was a pleasure to see Mariah and her show. And I can only agree. The mood of the audience was great, Mariah got love from the first second and she got the love back. Her smile can melt ice. She seemed like an angel and a Christmas princess in one person. Of course some parts were lipped, but the live parts were blowing you away. Mariah still got it. A true legend who was rocking the arena. I also enjoyed her band, the dancers and of course Trey and the other two singing ladies in the background. I had two Italian fans behind me and they were literally freaking out. Even the older ones (and I mean old) were having fun and gave her standing ovations. What else can I say? In the German newspaper from Berlin it is written even Grinch would get in the Christmas mood after watching her concert. It was a spectacle. Mariah looked beautiful and it was an honor to see her live. Thank you Mariah for that great evening. It was like beautiful dream. Something the people need more than ever today. I wish all the lambs who are joining her other concerts in Europe a great time. You'll have it.

Christmas concert DVD (86,909) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I really think they should release a recording of this concert, from a big venue. Her Christmas material is really the only of her material that sells masses still this late in her career.

Her voice is in peak condition, and she seems really happy. Besides, her angel ensemble looked really good in a venue like Mercedes in Berlin.

Berlin concert (86,908) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
After I have seen the full concert in Berlin, I now regret that I didn't buy a ticket here in Norway. But I think the venue suited the show better in Berlin than in Stavanger.

She sounds great. And people that still believe Ariana Grande is a better singer these days than Mariah, I think they should watch that concert and just keep quiet.

Re: "8th Grade" (86,899) (86,907) by B from USA
I accidentally submitted this before I had finished it. This is the complete message. My apologies, Eric.

I haven't listened to a Mariah Carey album in its entirety like I have been listening to Caution since Butterfly. 8th Grade was love at first listen. I always skip Irresistible on Charmbracelet, To The Floor on TEOM, Bye, Bye on E=MC2,, and I only listen to Obsessed, H.A.T.E.U and the JD remix, and Candy Bling from Memoirs, and I skip Heavenly (No Ways Tired / Can't Give Up Now) and One More Try on MIAMTEC.

Re: Cher having a moment (86,901) (86,905) by B from USA
Agreed. If you don't like Mariah or her music why bother coming here and complaining about everything she does. It's asinine. Caution is a stellar album that is Mariah reasserting herself artistically. The theme of the album and era is [censored] it I am Mariah [censored] Carey and whether you love me or hate me you cannot deny my talent. I also agree with you that Music Box is her most boring album because you can tell it wasn't the album she wanted to make. Music Box was the result of Tommy and other Columbia executives demanding Mariah to produce a more commercial sounding album after Emotions under-performed. Despite Mariah's impressive vocal performances most of the album lacks soul because she was making music she did not want to make.

AIWFCIY tour (86,903) by Manuel from Germany
Hello dahlings. I was at the concert in Berlin last night and what with there being so much criticism around her voice, I just wanted to say it is spectacular. Yes some parts where lipped (and noticeably so because the volume changed) but other parts that I thought she lipped, she didn't. She is just really that good. I think she is just not confident enough for whatever reason but the voice is still there henny. She was in great spirits, funny, engaging with the audience (unlike two years ago when I saw her in Cologne) and what a [censored] legend she is. She hasn't really had any major hit here in Germany in a long time because the general public hates her but in spite of that filled an arena 28 years into her career with a Christmas show. I think that is remarkable. Well and I was just crying throughout the concert, because Mariah and her music saved my life and for me to be breathing the same air as her, having that woman stand in front of me who sang such beautiful songs, been through so much, and still smile and be fabulous was just awe-inspiring. God bless her soul.

Cher having a moment (86,901) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Cher is having a serious, beautiful, celebratory moment right now (at the fabulous ages of 72), and it got me thinking: How high are some people's expectation for Mariah, compared to a five and a half decade long diva? Cher's first solo album dropped in 1965 (Mariah's 1990). 10 years into her career, Cher's 12th album "Stars" peaked at #153 (compare that to Mariah's Rainbow (#2)/Glitter (#7) which were also around that 10 year mark). Cher's 15th album "Take Me Home" peaked at number #25. Mariah's 15th album is peaking at #5. Madonna hasn't yet released 15 albums yet (Rebel Heart being her 13th). Janet Jackson has given us 11 studio albums. Whitney sadly only gave us 7 studio albums. What makes even some Mariah's "biggest fans" always questions if she's "done for good/lost it/going to finally retire" with even new album release since 2001 and/or 2005? What is that? To quote Mariah from that ****in reality show she did, "J.L.T/Job Long Time". She's in it for the long haul kids, buckle in, she's got 24 years before hitting 72. You might not like absolutely everything she releases, but she's released 15 albums with mostly original music written, sung and produced by your dahling dearest. Your opinions of her music through the decades are just that, your opinion, which equals no more then anyone else. Personally I believe Mariah has hit her stride with Caution. Others think it was with Music Box. (Which in my opinion is her most boarding, uninspired, caged, run of the mill circa 1993 album, that happened to have some of her most buttery smooth powerful vocals. Her voice was certainly there, however, her true art was not. Celine or Whitney could have sung and released Music Box as well, and we wouldn't know it was created by Mariah. Kinda like few people know that "Where are You Christmas" sung by Faith Hill was written by Mariah.) Only Mariah can create a Butterfly, Charmbraclet, Caution or Emancipation of Mimi. Truly think about it. Those four albums are a genre within themselves. It's the R&B Hip Pop that Mariah's defined for herself and her personal art, that only she can express to the finest decimal point. Personally, I'm buckled in for the next three or four decades and I'll be continuing the soap opera that is "the story of uniquely unparalleled of Ms. Mariah Carey".
