Producers (94,271)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

To me I think that MC should work with some up and coming producers on her next album. As well as 2-3 producers that she chemistry with. I would not mind Mike Will made it, Timbaland, Skillex, or Dev Haynes. As for co-writers Crystal Johnson, Missy Elliott, and Poo Bear.

So so good. JD and Darkchild are two of my favorite producers and I know the reason MIAMTEC is so so good was because of those two great producers.

I prefer the 80ies and 90ies. If there was a time maschine I would definitily go back. Lol. And even late 70ies we're great too. Nowadays just makes me sad a lot. The statistics can say what they want, when I was going out in late 90ies it was much more safe and "fun", I never had to worry about things that are today "normal". Of course I'm just talking about my country and how I have experienced it. But I have a little hope that things will get better in the future. The system is down, and although there are "winners" there are too many sick people because of the system and it's pressure. (The work-life.) I know so many people with burn-out and so on, something which was not in common 20 years ago. People shouldn't be treated as "human ressource" which is cheap to be exploited.

Check out Masterpiece by the Clark Sisters (94,268)

Jermaine and Crystal Johnson wrote a song for the Clark Sisters called Masterpiece. It is really a great song. Their new album The Return is really a brilliant gospel album that showcases their musical diversity. Crystal Johnson is such gifted songwriter. I hope she collaborates with MC again soon. And Rodney Jerkins provided some fresh beats for More and Nobody Like Him by the Clark Sisters. So much better than You're Mine (Eternal). Lol.

MC / Timbaland Robert Anthony (94,265)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

I am sure that MC would have loved to work with them both during the Butterfly era as they were fresh to the mainstream and Butterfly was MC’s artistic statement. My point was she did not work with Timbaland until [Skydiving] and then again on Caution with 8th [Grade]. Hopefully they will work together again at some point because I really enjoy 8th [Grade], also [Skydiving] sounds great as well, I hope that we get to hear the finished song one day.

What a beautiful voice she has. So proud of her using her popularity to support the black community and speaking against the racism and police brutality that this case is bringing on to the table.

I remember it . It was just ok. I preferred his other demo for her called "I need Things". Mimi could have rocked out to the obe. The lyrics needed to be tweaked to not be so materialistic though. I think all those reject demos hadn't been touched by Mimi as in no contribution from her just rejected off yop. She outright rejected so need things on Twitter.

I love her litttle snippet she's posted. The lyrics are today even more important than in 90. I'm so sick of superficial lyrics in general, Mariah should do another song like TGTBAW, she's so good at it. The world needs a new song with meaning and hope.

If you had to choose one moment in history in which to be born, and you didn't know in advance whether you were going to be male or female, which country you were going to be from, what your status was, you'd choose right now. The world has never been healthier, or wealthier, or better educated, or in many ways more tolerant, or less violent, than it is today.

She wanted to work with Timbaland and Missy together for Babydoll, but his schedule wouldn't allow it. MC said that during an interview.

She put some songs that were already on Memoirs onto MIAMTEC. I wish instead she put Skydiving on it as I believe it would've even bolstered an already excellent album. Timbaland was at the top of his game in 2014.

They Don't Know Me - demo song from MOAIA (94,256)
by John from USA
| |

Does anyone remember this demo song from the Memoirs era? All we have is The Dream's demo and the lyrics still definitely need reworking (for instance: the opening line says: It's 8AM in the morning, lols). It has a lot of potential though, and Mariah's breathy vocals would fit right in for the verses. I just wish Mariah had recorded this. For those who don't remember, here is the link.

Thanks for the link. That's the longest version I've heard so far. I think sonically, Skydiving may even fit Caution as well.

Mariah has only worked with Timbaland twice. On both [Skydiving] and 8th [Grade]. Babydoll was actually produced by Stevie J. with additional production by Cory Rooney.

I know TGTBAW often gets overlooked, and at times mocked for its production etc., but it's incredible and shocking, how 30 years/a generation after it was written, we still find ourselves in the same world.

This is the unmixed version that was done during the Memoirs sessions. First time Mariah and Timbaland worked with each other since she teamed up with [Missy] on [Babydoll]. I think it would've fit perfectly with [Memoirs] to break up but also compliment the Dream songs. Ignore the talking over it and try to focus on the vocals, lyrics and production. It's sublime.

Must see Glitter promo video (94,250)
by Edouard from France
| |

Hi everyone, very interesting video about the resurgence of the video uncovers what I believe is a never-before-seen promo video from the Glitter era. It seems to me that the story line of the movie was to be different: no so focus on the making of a star thing, more about the love story, the whitewashing of Billie's music, her choice not to go with the corporate guys, etc. The music on the album also would have been different. Mariah mentions a collaborative effort with Prince. She throws a little shade at Mottola and Lopez, alludes to plagiarism and not wanting to be blamed. Check it out.

I see it, but I think the title kinda relates to the mindset of the "voice" she's portraying in the song. The lyrics are as if they were written by someone with this indecisive, flimsy, kinda timid mindset, a lil bit like an 8th grader. I think Mariah was trying to harken back to her middle school days with the cig reference too. It might be a little bit of a reach, but it kinda makes sense to me.
