Simple and classic (107,468)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah kept it simple and classic. She arranged the song accordingly to make difficult transitions smoother. I have the impression she really practiced for this one. One well delivered song was good enough for me.

RA, don't let anyone diminish your shine. The only moderator on this board is Eric. Also there's a scroll option for people who want to scroll by. I don't read every single comment on this board if it doesn't interest me and that's fine. Not all of us have the same interests.

AMA performance (107,466)

Oouufff Mariah on fire. She looked so beautiful. Hair, makeup, dress everything on point. She looks like a cross between Charmbracelet and TEOM Mariah. She looked so endearing standing there trying to give it her all, I got emotional seeing her. WBT will always be that girl, the moment the intro notes starts everyone loses their mind. It's great to see everyone having a good time and singing along with her. She said she did the DFAU intro as an homage to her 2005 AMAs performance and it sounded good tbh.

She killed it. And I love the new interpretation of the song and how she's adjusted that final octave leap to fit her voice today. That final sustain hasn't been this clear in years.

Mariah's AMA performances (107,460)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
|

This is for fun. My review on all of her AMA performances. 1. Someday (AMA 1991) - Very simple performance of her, no dancers, no props on stage, just her showing off her vocals and whistle in the end. 2. Fantasy (AMA 1996) - The stage was full of dancers and sometimes Mariah was a bit confused where to go. The vocals were very good and she sounded girly during this era. 3. My All (AMA 1998) - This performance was aired via satellite that was taken from her Butterfly World Tour in Tokyo Dome. She sounded raspy but she nailed every notes. I love the hair. I remember watching this on tv and shocked to hear how her voice changed. 4. Thank God I Found You/Make It Last Remix) (AMA 2000) - She sounded out of breath throughout the performance but she makes it up at the end with singing acapella "thank you lord". 5. Through The Rain (AMA 2003) - The choir really boost the performance. I love the backdrop video that played at the back of Mariah when she performed this. Very inspiring. 6. Don't Forget About Us (AMA 2005) - I like the intro beat of the song. Such a dramatic performance after the bridge with all of her hand movements. She sounded ok though. 7. I Stay In Love (AMA 2008) - This is the beginning of the era where she stiffs and looks uncomfortable performing. This was at the time she was pregnant and miscarriaged. 8. With You (AMA 2018) - I really like the visuals. Mariah performing in that pink dress and the dress looked like a big pink flower and the male dancers are under it. 9. We Belong Together (AMA 2024) - She looked so beautiful. Nice gown. Beautiful gown. Nice hair. The vocals were ok. I love it.
I wish AMA would compile all of Mariah's performances and put in on YouTube.

I don't mind your need to post as much as you do. Do your thing and always be yourself. To each their own. I've been quiet because I've not been inspired lately. But yesterday on my birthday my husband surprised me with tickets to go see Mariah in Atllanta on November 23rd. I'm beyond excited and I think it's worth sharing on here.

Robert-Anthony just tends to have a lot of feelings. When the board goes quiet, he panics and jumps in with a random topic just to keep the conversation alive. But don’t take him for granted, one of these days, he might get himself a boyfriend, and the frequency of his messages could drop to just four or five per day. Then you'll end up missing him.
We love ourselves some Robert-Anthony.

AMA's anticipation is high (107,449)
by Zachariah from Croatia

I will speak for myself - I am quite because people with your writing style reject me from even putting an effort to write anything.
I'm tired of constantly reviving old conspiracies about choosing her singles or old songs and dissecting how would they sound in a different arrangement and would could be and so on and so on and so on. It is tiring to me and because of that I just don't engage. I am only interest in the present. How to help to see her on the top again and not live on old fame.

MC said during an E. News interview that she is starting her performance with an intro with DFAU and then will go into WBT. I am suspecting she will include ILT, IWYK, and end with a huge choir moment with FLB.

Yes, I can't wait. So it looks like she is doing a medley. I am so happy she's rearranging them and being creative. That way even if it's not fully live at least it'll be something new with some effort behind it. I don't know if it's deliberate or not but all the performers seem to be old schoolers. Not one current pop artist. J Hud seems to be the youngest of the lot. I understand it's for their 50th show but all the nominees are current acts.
Ps. I love love love Mariah's look for the AMA interviews.

This reminds me of Toni Braxton's remix performance of Unbreak My Heart remix, and also Mariah's own My All version at Diva's Live where she switched the end from ballad to upbeat, dance remix. That's what she should do with DFAU. Lambs don't seem to consider this song as one of her best, but I personally love it. But I would love a good twist.

Right. I am trying to figure out how many awards shows has MC done an orginal/dance remix type of performance. I know the Heartbreaker/Love Hangover performance was released on a maxi CD single as well. If she does that type of performance for DFAU, it would be really cool. This is definitely the AMAs to record on your DVR to watch later during the holiday season.
