Glitter the soundtrack didn't need a justice and in my eyes and many other lambs we also included the movie in that movement. The album sold 2 millions and gave her the best selling single of that year.

Mariah is an amazing director and her music videos have shown that, she directed most of them as she said, but we know she used to give away credit way too easy before. I need Mariah to really get an acting coach and get out and get more roles, try new things.

Our baby is a multi-talented women who can do it all, practice makes perfect and she just needs more roles.

I don't hold Glitter against Mariah, I'm actually happy Glitter happened because I don't think we would've gotten Glitter, the soundtrack, had she not jumped on making the movie. But trying to justify this movie blaming every little thing or person for how bad it was or what it could've been, is something I won't ever do. I like Mariah on Precious. She was decent in Tennessee and Wise Girls. By the end of the '90's Mariah had started believing her own hype, and what happened with Glitter brought some of that early humbleness she used to have back in her, then she worked hard and we got "Charmbracelet", which was kind of hated then, but now highly appreciated considering Mariah doesn't write poetic lyrics like that anymore, and then we had "The Emancipation Of Mimi". Things happened for a reason, at the end of the day, a horrible movie and a great soundtrack ended up saving her life. Mariah was working like a mule, abusing substances and not taking care of herself, and like any human being, she crashed. Everything happened the way it was supposed to. The movie keep being bad just as the soundtrack keep being great. We even got justice for it Glitter, the soundtrack, but we won't ever see a "#Justice4GlitterTheMovie" on twitter, and there's a clear reason for that.

So cute. Priceless. Mimi might have been mortified though.

I'm not against her acting (I actually liked her in Wisegirls). There's room for her to get better with acting if she's really serious about it. I just want her to choose roles that stray away from the diva persona and the typical "Mariah" role. I feel like she can do more than playing herself (diva or singer). I want her to get out of her comfort zone.

Glitter (90,788) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
It is so much that can be said as to why that era did not work. But at this point as fans we should be grateful for the fact that Mariah survived such a dark time in her life which I am sure was not easy doing so in the spotlight. Of course as fans we would like for Mariah to be successful with everything that she does but in reality she is human just like the rest of us, so it is not possible. Was Glitter a classic movie in my honest opinion? No but I will not hold it against Mariah because I am not really into Mariah for acting I enjoy Mariah as the singer-songwriter/producer. But I will not knock her for wanting to try other aspects of entertainment if it makes her heart full.

I totally agree with you. In the early 90's she said that she wouldn't do acting, and she should have stuck with that. I was really embarrassed when I watched Glitter at the cinema. It was just bad. As the crazy fan I used to be, I still bought the DVD. Love the album, can't stand the movie. She's not an actress, she's a singer (producer, etc.). It's like she has no expressions in her face, and can't use her voice in movies.

"Putting Crapfinity at the end of a collection of her #1's was the worst decision ever. I didn't buy the album because of that."

That was exactly the reason why I didn't buy the cd too. But I'm really happy with "The Ones" [sic] from 99 and "The Greatest Hits". Her next compilation should be with some rare songs, remixes and duets like many of you mentioned. It would be just great and something worth the money.

Nine movies? Which ones?

I absolutely adore Mariah as a singer and songwriter but she should stay away from acting. In most cases she merely played a version of herself with "Wisegirls" being the most significant role compared to the cameos in "SP2", "Zohan" and "Girls Trip". Her part in "Precious" was minor and overrated. I am not a hater but a realist. Where is Andrew when you need him?

Defending Glitter (90,783) by Edward from USA
Defending "Glitter" is like Defending "Crapfinity". I remember those lambs who swore the song was pure genius, a masterpiece, a diamond in the rough. I don't remember if they said it was a slow burner, but they probably said that too. At least "Glitter", the soundtrack, can be listened to and enjoyed without thinking about the movie. Putting "Crapfinity" at the end of a collection of her #1's was the worst decision ever. I didn't buy the album because of that. I created my own #1's album, in which "Crapfinity" was a no show, and where I just added "We Belong Together", "Don't Forget About Us", and "Touch My Body" to the original plus the songs that were released on the European version: "Without You" and "Do You Know Where You're Going To". Mariah is a musical genius, emphasis on musical. Writing a song is nothing like writing the script for a movie. She should keep her hands off directing or producing any movie, "A Christmas Melody" showed she's bad at directing, and her grown up version of "Regina George" with a camera special soft focus for her to look like an angel was ridiculous. If it had been for Mariah, she would've played the social worker on "Precious" with the outfit she wore on "Diva's Live". Thank God she wasn't the director or producer or anything other than an actress on Precious.

Licia, you couldn't have said it better. The Glitter soundtrack is awesome, the movie is terrible. It's not about the actors, promotions or shit else. The script and production were horrendous, and Mariah was playing a Mary Poppins version of herself. I saw it here in NY, there were a few cats in attendance, and my friend looked at me and told me: "You know this movie sucks, right?" A movie can be a commercial flop and still be great. In this case it was both. No matter how much "The United Lambs of Lala Land" like it or the excuses they make for it being so bad, Glitter is still a bad movie.

"Mariah is not a very good actress, not just in Glitter." I would like to see you do better, Her acting is fine but not many people can act amazingly without a tailor fit character/script made. But having opinions are okay but the facts will always matter to me more.

Mariah has starred in 9 movies in some form and those movies together have generated almost a billion dollars soon and that will forever be linked to her. So who is laughing now exactly? Lol our queen is unbothered and always stays winning. Such a fighter and true inspiration.

The forgotten albums (90,779) by Jeff from USA
I'm so glad to see that MC is singing songs that she's either never played live or rarely does. Some of the songs on the albums that were sales disappointments have some awesome songs. I'm looking at you, CB/Memoirs/MIAM. I know there needs to be a balance during concerts between the hits and "album cuts", but I think MC doesn't realize that a lot of us would love to hear some of the "for the lambs" songs. Underneath the Stars, Smooth Invitation [sic], Yours, Cry, Ribbon, etc. I will never tire of My All, but maybe throw in The Roof too. What do y'all think?

I enjoyed Glitter back then. I saw it two times in cinema in 2001. It was fun and I have the DVD and I like to watch it because of the phenomenal soundtrack and the setting of the 80ies. But the movie is not like "Chicago" or "The Artist" for example. I think Mariah was pretty good in "Wise Girls". I also like the role in "Tennessee". But it's clear that MC's true talent is music and not acting. And that's fine.

Wrote 20 paragraphs full of nothing and the fact still remains that the Glitter movie was terrible and I actually paid to go see that mess. Lol. On a happier note that soundtrack is a masterpiece. I agree that was the highlight of the whole era. If it wasn't for that album I'd file Glitter under my list of things I don't talk about. Lol.

Re: Glitter (90,773) by Nikki from usa
I loved Glitter - I have the movie. Janet Jackson liked the movie too. It was a small budget film and Mariah had the cast be newbies as she was. The director was known for one movie and only the villain was a seasoned actor. Nobody else acted before. I do sometimes feel like I'm watching an emperor without clothes when it comes to diva movies. Whitney, MC, and Gaga are no Meryl Streep. But, that doesn't mean they didn't do a good job. I don't see much of a difference between any of these movies. Whitney and Gaga had the most simplistic storylines. Whitney's was well produced with seasoned actors. Mostly, so was Gaga's. Except, I didn't think Gaga's romance made much sense. There was no development. They were singing and then married. There wasn't enough time to get emotionally attached before the death. MC's storyline was fine, but executed choppy and muddy. It pays to have a script written before you shoot.

Whitney injured her leading man, MC had hers killed, and Gaga had hers kill himself. My kid saw Gaga's movie before I did and she said it reminded her of Glitter and The Bodyguard. I have to agree. Yet, no one can compete against the atrocity of Gigli. It was hounded worse than Glitter, but there was no terrorist attack to keep the comics going to divert attention. Gobble, gobble.

It's not just Glitter (90,772) by Will from Australia
Mariah is not a very good actress, not just in Glitter, but in everything I've seen her in - and yes I'm talking about Precious too and I know she got nominated for blah blah blah. I don't think she can act at all very well. But why should she, she's a singer with an amazing gift and for that she is in a league of her own. And that's just my opinions and opinions are like butt holes, everyone has one. Is it Christmas yet?

Re: Let’s all watch it again to piss a goatee off (90,770) (90,771) by We are Lambily from USA
Well that's your opinion Bill, and most people who hate the movie haven't even seen it, but they do because a critic said so, the movie needed a lot of work but it's still precious in so many people's eyes. I have a cousin like that, if the movie doesn't have a high score on IMDB she doesn't watch it. I find that truly sad.

Honestly I enjoyed that movie more than half of Netflix/Amazon/Hulu originals this year and GOT last horrible season. But that's just my opinion.

The lead was a horrible actor, not good looking, he didn't bring anything to the movie except for giving Billie the heartbreak enough to write which is a better song than every damn Academy Award winning song that decade.

Mariah should've never have allowed a budget under 50$ million for her first movie, even the cameras weren't right. Yes Mariah's acting wasn't Angela Bassett level but do you guys ever think about how much of a, impact the producers and directors have, imagine you killing at your profession for a whole decade and being a bit nervous for your first movie gig and not getting the support you need, which is why Mariah shined so hard, because believed in her, I still haven't heard the director mentioning the movie in years, the only one is Padma "if I spelled her name right and as usual to people to have meet Mariah, she was a sweetheart and a blessing and she also spoke about the feeling when Mariah when sings next you, she used the world Olympic for her voice".

Mariah has said their was a lot of problems with the movie, clearly we all saw them but top 10 of those problems aren't linked to Mariah. How many mediocre women and men in the industry have had movies flop on the box office and still gets hired and get multi million dollars deals still. But when a cute idea of a project that wasn't finished but got released by "Mariah", everyone raced to burn her first.

Also this mentality that if a movie doesn't sell or if a album doesn't sell, it ain't good is the one I hate the most. Let's not forget that movies flop sometimes because of politics and reasons people don't wanna believe, for whatever biased reason it may be.

We are all fans of Mariah and we don't like it when she missteps but, come on. Glitter wasn't a good film by any stretch of the imagination. Mariah's talent is in singing and songwriting, hence why the only salvageable relic from that project is the brilliant soundtrack that accompanied it. Let's be realistic, accept it for what it was, and move on.

Let’s all watch it again to piss a goatee off (90,769) by We are Lambily from USA
Are we done? Honestly I can't take another minute of hearing anyone complain about Glitter the movie let alone lambs. It's a fact that the world treated her unfairly for that movie, at least half of the movies in theaters "this year alone" were worse. Yes the 80s revival was a bit to early, let's not ever forget 9/11 and its impact towards the movie, the script could've been better and she should have gotten a lead of her magnitude. Mariah had just slayed the entire industry for a decade and won the artist of the decade and sold over 100 millions etc. "I'm not gonna list all of her accomplishments." That budget was honestly just disrespectful. And it was released on select theaters.

The industry wanted to cancel Mariah so bad because she had just slayed them a whole decade. Mariah has in a weird way always been treated harshly because deep down they know Mariah got more talent than The Beatles, Elvis and every other legend "in white America", she had everything else and now she wanna be a movie star too, cancel.

My opinions on the movie. I have seen it like 4 times, honestly I felt that movie, such a cute cute cute movie, can't wait to watch it with my "future" daughters one day, the singing was amazing, the soundtrack was one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard. I'm so glad Mariah keeps on acting, cause I like it no matter what. I have seen at least 10,000 movies ish, "my math is a bit off" and 50% of them were so much worse period.

The positives: people said she is over but had forgotten that she is first and foremost a singer, songwriter and producer, her hit single Loverboy was #1 selling single of that year, and soundtrack sold over 2 millions.

Our girl always have a win in the midst of her falls, honestly she is the second greatest artist of all time, and MJ is only ahead of her because of his impact not talent and the fact that there is a "clone" of him in every city. Lol.

Don't belittle Jesus like that, doesn't matter if you are religious or not, his life is well documented and he truly was one of the good guys.

4 things could've made it better.
1. As I agree with my fellow lamb on this board, a stronger male lead was needed, the guy is not hot, I still don't know his name and I have never seen another movie with him "remind me of a good one if I have". Ugh worst possible pick ever.
2. Bigger budget, more promo and definitely more theaters should've been arranged,
3. Should've been released at a different time anyone who complains about Glitter and doesn't mention 9/11 is a straight up hater.
4. Ugh I hate that damn lead so much, yes brad Pitt would've been amazing and he was so much hotter back then,

All these combined would make the movie gross at least 89 millions with a 50 million budget.
