Re: Mariah Report (90,676) (90,692) by Philipp from Switzerland
So sad. I loved the Mariah Report and was excited about each new episode. Their track-by-track analysis of the Butterfly album is amazing.

Eric you gotta post this link. Now some of these claimed samples are a stretch but a lot of shit is MC sampling which is genius. I [censored] with her ability to transform songs and make them something else. I'm drunk so edit this post lol. Love you.

Indeed. I forgot about the running in the Butterfly video. Actually that is a beautiful and poetic video. I wish she would do these videos with a narrative again.

Taylor Swift (90,688) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I know she has gotten a lot of hate here but let's just be really honest and give credit where it is due - the woman is one of the best mainstream artists who are currently out there, maybe even the best of her generation in terms of being the overall package (the way Bey is of her generation). She can hardly sing to save her life, but no one can deny that she does have a way with words, a wit and wisdom that is quite surprising especially considering she's mostly relegated to the run-off-the-mill white girl pop star category. She knows what the public likes and has this weird way of kicking off her albums with the weakest first single choices that are poor representations of their overall sound yet achieving success anyway.

Her promotional strategies are very well thought and rolled out, videos are quite meticulously made that she is only rivaled by Beyoncé in terms of her mastery in using the media as a promotional tool (except that Tay's approach is more basic and relatable than Bey's high art aspirations). Every video is an event, and every TV guesting, social media post, video, interview, even wardrobe choice is so scrutinized by the public as they are rife with her famous easter eggs that she drops in relation to her latest endeavors, mist especially her music. This attention to details make the entire music experience much more real, interesting and memorable for her fans. (Remember how much we miss Mariah's voice memos?)

Normally, all of this calculation would leave no room for heart, but whatever you say about her music - white trash, basic, bland, repetitive, Top 40, etc. - the heart and intention still manage to shine through all of the pop glaze, and that's why she still sells albums and arenas like she does. She definitely is not just a pop puppet or robot. It takes more than just loyalty or even blind allegiance to stay on top like she does (and we as Mariah fans should know that). Even her shady business moves are also great, such as her recent decision to re-record her hits (and by late next year, her entire discrography under her former label) to get back at Scooter Braun. She defies the dumb blonde stereotype and definitely knows how to flip scripts and take back narratives.

They say Beyoncé or Ariana run the game. I don't. Based on consistency and payoff, nobody knows the current industry like Taylor does. She understands that being a pop star in this day and age is no longer just about you, but is more about how you interact with the fans and make them feel like they're somehow a part of your journey. It's about thinking beyond just the sonic experience. Smart.

Same. I assume it's far too much hassle to do a podcast with a narrow niche for the target audience. I forbid anything to happen to those boys or any other members of the production team. God bless.

Argh. T. Swift. Can't sing. Can't dance. Can't be anything beyond skinny white basic. But that women can certainly write a song. She's gonna make billions off writing music, but please, can we get her sing-talking off the radio please.

Re: Bizarre campaigns (90,681) (90,683) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Hahahahaha beyond bonkers but that was the Stella reign of terror, summed up in a nut shell. It was actually a brilliant way to reach a demo MC can rarely touch, but none the less bonkers. Last time I think we saw Mariah run was in the Butterfly video; and before that her short doc vids where she’s riding a John Deer or something, with pet Dobermanns.

Haha it's really funny. I only saw Mariah running at the short clip from the "Fresh Air Fund" where she's running with the kids.

Bizarre campaigns (90,681) by Tijl from Belgium
That ad was completely bonkers. Especially the part where Mimi starts to run looks very fake. I don't think I have ever seen her run lol.

I never got into Taylor until a few months back at the Billboard awards when she was loving Mariah, lol. I love "Afterglow", everything about that track is amazing to me. The whole album is incredible.

The Mariah Report (90,678) by Will from Australia
I can't believe The Mariah Report is no more. So sad. I thought they went on a very abrupt hiatus for the summer it didn't expect that to be the end of it. Wonder what happened? There's no explaining as to why, just goodbye.

Lover (90,677) by Bobby A from United States
This album is pretty darn good. Spoken like the Tennessee boy that I am. It kind of reminds me of Butterfly and how the public said it was MC's transformation album. Lover is Taylor Swift's transformation album. This woman can create and sell masterpieces. I give her that.

Then it's very symbolic. Only the Butterfly has escaped "his dominion".

Hello Dennis, I believe the 20th anniversary special edition of the LP features notes from MC mentioning the story about the fire. I just can't seem to find images of the inlay. But I am sure I have seen it. Shame I don't own that particular edition.

Re: The Bedford Mansion (90,671) (90,673) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Till, I believe that the fireplace ornament was one of the inspirations behind Butterfly album. There was nothing in the Butterfly, #1's, Rainbow albums about the fire. I personally doubt that she had ever visited the remnants of the mansion. I believe she found out about that from the press.

Re: The Bedford Mansion (90,670) (90,671) by Tijl from Belgium
The mansion burned down years ago. I believe it happened in 1999. In the fire between all the debris Mariah found the only remnant of the fireplace; an ornament adorned wih a butterfly. She has written about this in one of the CD inlays. I just can't remember which one.

The Bedford Mansion (90,670) by Olivia from United States
Lambily, this is super important. Does anyone know if anyone has gone to Mariah and Tommy's Bedford Mansion after it burned down to visit the property? I need to know. I'm considering taking a trip there because I live less than an hour away but I want to know if I'd be able to get there safely without getting in trouble. Is there any info about who lives around there or who owns the property or anything important that I should know? Thanks.

AIWFIY (90,669) by Bobby A from United States
Why do I feel AIWFIY has a gotten a remix treatment that is going to help propel it to #1? This is going to be AIWFIY's best Christmas ever on the charts. I am wondering if Usher jumped on a AIWFIY remix or new Christmas song. The repackaged MC is going to add to my collection with my standard edition, my CD-Rom version, the Dual Disc version, the Limited Edition vinyl, and the cassette version. Did I miss anything or anybody else got me beat?

Article: The 25 best singers-turned-actors (90,668) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
What a ridiculous list. Will Smith is literally one of the biggest actors in the world, like Tom Cruise level and he's sitting below JLo (who in my opinion is as good of an actor as she is a singer, dancing is her lane). Mandy Moore is way more famous as an actor then her singing and is on the most watched TV on atm. She's got range and depth as an actor. Madonna heads and tails above Cher? Uhhh no, I'm sorry, just no. Elvis as an actor not playing a version of Elvis? I haven't seen that film yet. Also, JHud has an Oscar; why is she outdone by JLo?

It's funny they list a cameo as one of Mimi's acting credits. They might as well have sited You Don't Mess with the Zohan. Mariah in Wise Girls, Tennessee and The Butler should have, hands down, be the listed credits.

My top 10 list would be:
1. Wil Smith
2. Mandy Moore
3. Jennifer Hudson
4. Mark Wahlberg
5. Ice Cube
6. Cher
7. Dolly Parton
8. Ice-T
9. Barbra Streisand
10. Ms. Mariah Carey - She's never ever given enough credit in this department even with Precious.
