Subject of Christmas (90,618) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
While we are talking about Christmas, and AIWFCIY possibly becoming Mariah's 19th #1, I have actually listened to another of her Christmas songs lately.

I have gone through the worst struggles of my life the last couple of months, and the song that has helped me through is One Child. That song always gives me goose bumps and lately it has made me cry because it has given me hope. I have listened to the live version in Washington with the Obamas present. It's one of her best permances ever I think.

Mariah is with me in the best of times and worst of times.

Re: Chart manipulation (90,616) (90,617) by Bill from the UK
It doesn't make sense as Sony pulled Can't Let Go from sale when it was heading for #1 to increase sales of the Emotions album, so why manipulate everything else?

Re: Chart manipulation (90,612) (90,616) by Musti from UK
This article is bull. As far as I'm aware the only single that was discounted was Loverboy. There were also rumours back in the day that Sony would buy back her singles to increase sales. I believe none of it. People would say anything to overshadow someone's success.

Curaçao North Sea Jazz (90,615) by radhames from Curacao
Hey Lambs, MC is coming to my hometown. A small inland in the Caribbean. Let me not go on an tangent. Everybody here on the island is saying they are hoping she will sing All I Want For Christmas Is You. My thoughts are running wild.

MC's tone (90,614) by Bobby A from United States
I was listening to Butterfly and MIAM together in rotation. I really think MC's tone on both are about comparably the same in vocal quality. Just like E=MC2 and MOAIA are about same in vocal quality.

Re: Chart manipulation (90,612) (90,613) by Matthew from USA
However she got the #1's, it's already cemented. You got folks out here hawking keychains, t-shirts, free tickets, and a seven eleven smoothie refill bundled package to help sell their albums and singles these days. The hustle is real in these streets. Whether it was 69 cents or 49 cents is besides the point. Let's respect the hustle, as long as it's legal. Speaking of hustles, when is the 57th remix of Old Town Road coming out?

Chart manipulation (90,612) by ksquarred from paris
I just stumbled on this article, which basically says that if Mariah has so many #1s it is because most of her singles were discounted to 49 cents, and I was wondering if anyone could confirm that, based on your memories? I know it was the case for Loverboy, but I had never heard it for songs like Honey or My All.

Re: Tommy cried to Beautiful Ones (90,610) (90,611) by MusicfanJ from Germany
The same here. By the first listen it didn't get me. But later, I recognized what a great masterpiece this song really is. Then I had it on repeat too. The end of the song is everything. If Tommy did cry, it's totally understandable.

Same happened to me. In fact I used to skip it frequently, then one day I just "got it" and it all clicked into place. I have days when I play nothing but this song over and over again.

Seriously that was my baby daddy from back in the day Devante doing the speaking part on the Beautiful Ones? I knew it wasn't Sisqo. I thought it was Nikio talking. I'm interested to know how she got Devante to do it as well. Now this is making me wonder how the song would have sounded with Jodeci and not Dru Hill.

Re: Tommy cried to Beautiful Ones (90,599) (90,608) by 123 from USA
Originally I thought it might had been somebody from Dru Hill or even Prince. I would have never thought it was Devante from Jodeci. Sisqo said Devante produced the song but I believe Corey Rooney is shown as the producer. Interesting.

Re: Tommy cried to Beautiful Ones (90,586) (90,607) by Ronnie from California
Tommy is a musical artist, so he probably did cry. I remember glancing over that song my first few listens of the Butterfly album. After obsessing over the other tracks, I distinctly had a discombobulated night with that song on repeat - I even fell asleep and woke up with it playing. Maybe it was a dreamer's mind, but I have never been the same since. As a more seasoned lamb, I believe "The Beautiful Ones" was a smart cover choice. The style emphasized her technique, had symbolic lyrics, and maybe somewhat associated her with her legendary peers. By then, everyone knew Mariah is a singer, but she totally trademarked her use of whisper and resonant belts on that album (even if she had been doing it her entire career). Daydream solidified her mastery of it, and Butterfly made it associated with her identity.

She also has an idea for a new album to follow 2018’s Caution. I think she's going to release the follow up to Caution in spring of 2020 and it will be a summery feel-good album, the perfect album for spring/summer like Caution was the perfect fall/winter album. I hope she continues to work with new co-writers and co-producers like Dev Hynes and No I.D.

Based on this new People article, new music is just an idea. She keeps mentioning her therapeutic memoir though.

Someone is simply jealous of her chastity (said in the inflection of "ReRe's got a new boyfriend"/Loverboy).

I knew it wasn't Sisqo doing the spoken parts on The Beautiful Ones. I remember getting into a heated debate with my friend about it, lol. Glad to know I was right, lol.

Re: Tommy cried to Beautiful Ones (90,596) (90,597) by Bill from the UK
It's interesting because it seems like the Butterfly record really impacted Tommy, though he never said as much in his biography. Mariah said he left her a note saying "butterflies are free to fly - fly away", a line from Somebody Saved My Life Tonight by Elton John, which was then sampled in the Butterfly remix. I guess hearing Butterfly and knowing it was directed at you and how much you're stifling somebody would make you feel dreadful. They had a very complex relationship, I hope the memoirs really delve into their time together properly. But as with everything, there are so many NDAs flying around she probably can't.

In other news, please Lord bring the St John the Divine concert with MC25. Amen.

I would love for MC to film a television special with Dru Hill, Jodeci, Trey Songz, Fabulous, Nas, Joe, Jay Z, Twista, Dev Hynes, Timbaland, Busta Rhymes and Usher. This would be one hot televised concert. Sneak in Toni Braxton and Ariana Grande at the end.
