Re: I am free (90,191) (90,193) by B from USA
I would love for Mariah to discuss how emotions affect the voice. The emotional toll the end of her relationship with Tommy and their subsequent divorce took on her voice is obvious. Her voice began declining (or became unpredictable and unreliable) when her marriage began imploding. I'd also like to know why she decided to marry Nick after only knowing him for a few weeks. It still seems so out of character. Was it during a manic episode?

Re: I am free (90,191) (90,192) by Bill from the UK
I want to know about the pre-fame days. The demos, the background singing, the wood shop with Ben, Warner's wanting to sign her, school, growing up etc. I also want her to come clean about her discovery. I don't really buy the Cinderella yarn that was spin when she was launched (all too perfect), but I do believe the rumour she was discovered years earlier as a 14/15 year old and was set up with songwriters and groomed for live performing etc. pending her "coming of age". I also want to know about unreleased songs and why she never put them on albums, as well as her voice and its decline over the years (or, is it more or less as it's always been but she's gradually toned down the engineering over the years).

Since Mariah is supposedly writing her memoirs, what are a couple of things you wish she'd be the most honest and transparent about?

For me, the obvious one would be the unvarnished truth about her voice. I think it would it would be something unexpected and real from her, and it would probably serve her well with the general public's view of her. Plus, it would be catchartic.

Is there anything else you guys wish she'd open up about? I know there's very little chance she'll be completely honest about her voice.

Hearing those peak Whitney vocals brought me back to my childhood. Magical. Nostalgic. Nothing will ever beat the music of 1993-1994. A moment. Needless to say I love the song and as a huge fan of Whitney I am surprised I never heard this before.

I'm not a fan of this remix. I like the version she originally recorded. I really wanted to like it though.

It really didn't grab me. And I love Kygo. Who knows, maybe with repeated listens.

Please somebody do post the chorus and the verses again as I am certain everyone here needs reminding for the umpteenth time.

Higher Love (90,184) by Tevin from USA
Has anyone heard Kygos remake of Whitney Houston "Higher Love". Even though you lose a bit of the soul in the song (since its edm remix) the song sounds so fresh and amazing. Whitney's voice. Boy do I wish her and Mariah could have recorded more than one song together. Anyway have you guys heard the song yet, what are your thoughts?

I shared the sales update to show that Caution is still selling and hasn't disappeared like MIAM did after just two months.

How 'bout you get the [censored] out?
How about you get the [censored] out?
(How 'bout you)
Take your tings [sic] and be on your merry way
Just playing
So, what do you do
When somebody you're so devoted to
Suddenly just stops loving you
And it seems they haven't got a clue
Of the pain that rejection is putting you through
Do you cling to your pride
And sing "I will survive"
Do you lash out and say, how dare you leave this way
Do you hold on in vain as they just slip away

I just watched, it was pretty funny. In the steak prank, Mimi reminded me of how Stella used to act though. Lol.

Greatest lyric (90,180) by Jeff from USA
I'm definitely on board with "Close My Eyes", particularly:

Funny how one can learn
To grow numb to the madness
And block it away
I left the worst unsaid
Let it all dissipate
And I try to forget
Maybe I grew up a little too soon

As sure as "Migrate should have been a single", Boy shouldn't have been.

I think like everybody I just wish Languishing was a bit longer. It's almost a crime that it's so short, as Boy goes into it's 17th chorus.

I always get goosebumps when I hear that bridge about recollections. Actually, Languishing is my favourite MC track.

Yes Brad that part from "Languishing" is really great and heartfelt. Love it too.

Re: MC's masters (90,171) (90,175) by B from USA
She does. After 25 years the ownership of maters are transferred to the artist/songwriter. I believe Mariah's deals with IDJ and Epic included her receiving ownership of her masters. it would also explain her being able to include the #1's she amassed during her tenure at IDJ on #1 To Infinity. If not she owns the masters of Maraih Carey, Emotions, Music Box, and Merry Christmas and next year she'll receive ownership of the Daydream masters. Here's a link about artist being able to reclaim their rights to their music after 25 years.

Re: Mariah's greatest lyric (90,169) (90,174) by Brad from USA
Hi all. Hope everyone is well. I would nominate the following excerpt from Languishing as one of her greatest lyrics. Although it's just an interlude, I think it's some of her better work plus I love the layerings and whisperings in the song. Thanks and be well.

"Those ancient buried recollections
We transform them and select them
You have yours, I have mine
That's fine"

A medium / Butterfly (classic bossa nova) (90,173) by Lafa from Sweden
A medium pointed out a flaw in Butterfly (Classic Bossa Nova). The chorus (background voices) is actually 11 seconds off-pitch at a place. Woops.

With the news this week that Scooter Braun bought Big Machine Records and Taylor Swift's masters, does MC own her masters? Taylor Swift is smoking mad.
