Re: Mariah's greatest lyric (90,164) (90,169) by RibbonB from USA
Those are the exact three I was referring to. Well you named the big three, but even the iconic WBT on your list, while great, it will only be sung by Mimi.

Stella is so petty. I hate how she speaks of all those "adults" being bad influences for kids. Give me a break Stella, your Mishka bear was taking pictures of Mariah's ass. I'm convinced Stella does some bad drug called ego dust.

I love "Close my eyes" lyrics. The first time I saw Mariah in Las Vegas, she sang it. This was at the Palms Casino for her Angels Advocate tour.

Vision of Love, ABMB, Dreamlover, Without You, AIWFCIY, Hero, Fantasy, Honey, My All, Heartbreaker, When You Believe, We Belong Together are all standards and here to enjoy for generations.

You're right it ain't that deep. On another note, I think Mariah may have three classics that other generations will want to sing. Am I missing a song?

All I Want For Christmas Is You
Hero
Always Be My Baby

Re: Mariah's greatest lyric (90,153) (90,163) by RibbonB from USA
Lol, you know people stretch and expand. I guess it wasn't that deep to me. But if he or she meant verse, bridge, chorus, stanza or whatever, shoulda said that. Unpopular take, Mimi has some great songs, but few standards, meaning classics that others want to sing for generations. I think two, maybe three.

Moments with Mimi web series (90,162) by Licia from USA
This is a cute little idea. Everyone knows I love when she lets the funny and her personality out. I hope it continues. I've really missed these fun moments.

Bleakness (90,161) by Will from Australia
Some of the stuff people come out with here is so bleak. If someone wants to quote a line, a chorus or the whole bloody song then good on you. You're a fan and are moved by Mariah's lyrics and come here to celebrate it, not to be told how to be a fan in the eyes of the neurotic.

These controlling Tommy Mottola need to get a life lol. It's not that deep. My favourite Mariah album, and no.1 of course is Music Box, Daydream and Butterfly.

Bill, maybe I should have not said Thiller, but Good Girl Gone Bad. I may not ever lived that prediction down. Lol.

"You're acting so corny like Fritos" is Mariah's "Sitting on a Cornflak." I love it. They don't all have to be deep.

Completley agree. But I do think they won't release it. Hmm we'll see.

And not far behind Thriller's 66 million sales as initially predicted.

Caution part 2 (90,154) by Bobby A from United States
It seems strange to me that MC would jump right back into the studio twice eight months after releasing Caution. The only explanation is that she is getting ready to re-release Caution or deliver Caution Part 2 with new and remixed tracks. She did say at the Barcelona concert she was just in the studio for something special. And Usher is captured in a picture in the studio with MC. I hope they remixed One Mo Gen with new vocals with Usher. Something is about to happen in the next month or so with Caution.

Re: Mariah's greatest lyric (90,145) (90,153) by Special K from USA
I thought the intent was to site [sic] a lyric, as in "one" lyric or phrase that stands out, has depth, genius, beautiful, and well written. To me if your are going to site [sic] a whole damn song, then it's more like "songs, or a song, with the greatest lyrics", as in plural. Whomever thought of the subject if they happy with folks posting a whole damn song then Special K loves it.

Success. Better than Daydream and Music Box combined.

The Distance (90,151) by Bobby A from United States
This is the perfect time for Epic to release The Distance as the official 3rd single. It is the perfect summer song. Disclosure and Kygo remixes would be sweet too.

Re: Mariah's greatest lyric (90,147) (90,149) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I also like "For the record" because of this reason. But my all time favorite is:

Nearing the edge
Oblivious I almost
Fell right over
A part of me
Will never be quite able
To feel stable
That woman-child falling inside
Was on the verge of fading
Thankfully I woke up in time

Guardian angel I
Sail away on an ocean
With you by my side
Orange clouds roll by
They burn into your image
And you're still alive

But I closed my eyes
Steadied my feet on the ground
Raise my head to the sky
And though time rolls by
Still feel like a child
As I look at the moon
Maybe I grew up a little too soon

The part with the guardian angel could be a song for itself. So poetic. I love it so much. And I miss those kind of lyrics. The lyrics on the Butterfly album are truly everything.

Re: Mariah's greatest lyric (90,146) (90,147) by Tijl from Belgium
That was a low point indeed. However, she has written many clever and witty lines before. I love how is referring to her previous work in "For The Record":

And for the record
I told you underneath the stars
That you belong to me
For the record
It's obvious that
We just can't let go of us, honey

Re: Mariah's greatest lyric (90,138) (90,144) by Morgan from United States
She didn't write the pre-chorus bridge to H.A.T.E.U. The verses, the chorus all of that was changed. She kept the melody and the boxing metaphor, because, honestly, those were genius.
