Re: feeding hungry kids (82,579) (82,580)
by Dove from United States

We don't know what she gives and doesn't give. We know she reads the Bible and in Matthew 6 it teaches about giving. It says to not tell everyone about the good deeds you do: "Watch out. Don't do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. When you give to someone in need, don't do as the hypocrites do - blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity. I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get. But when you give to someone in need, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you."

The only thing worse than keeping that ring is keeping the funds from the sale of it. Tells you a lot about the new personality she has spent the past 6 years developing. What about all dem hungry kids she wanted to feed lmao.

Happy for her (82,578)
by Marissa from USA

I'm so happy that Mariah is finally taking responsibility for her life and letting go of the baggage of the past by selling her ring. Although this "Awakened Mariah" era is a lot less eventful, it's just nice to know that she appears to be in a great place mentally and surrounded by people who put her career and positive brand first. So many of our prayers for her have been answered. I'm just happy that she had the opportunity to turn her life around before it was too late.

I agree, keeping the ring after the engagement ended in the first place was a very low rent and surprising move, and not something I would have expected MC to do. I say to myself maybe Stella influenced that decision, and now that she's out of the picture, Mariah's had a change of tact. I'm glad it's out of her life either way, and that she can now move on.

"Her looking like a giant on the back of that motorcycle." I think she looked absolutely gorgeous in that video although I never liked the concept. The leather outfit and the setting was odd if not ridiculous. Loved the chandeliers in the barn though. And the original version of the song is one of her best over the last years. Should have been a massive hit. Everytime one of my friends hear it they mention just how beautiful (pun intended) the two voices go together and how they love the sexy vibe of the song. A missed opportunity.

Selling the ring (82,575)

I doubt it was about money, it think it was more about getting rid of toxic energy that has to do with the nightmare era and anything and everything associated with it. I can guarantee the amount she got for the ring is nothing compared to what she makes from her back catalogue that she proudly owns even though she does not mention anything about it.

I don't know if she's hard up for cash, but that ring was not worth ten million. So selling it for almost three million was smart. Better than she'd get if she pawned it. But when Stella was her manager Mimi went on record to say she hired Stella to become more financially stsble, to make herself money. Ironically Stella lost and/or stole some of Mimi's money. Mimi even got robbed during that era. So if selling the ring is one sure step towards being less spiteful, I will take it. The cash to feed the remaining snakes in her camp can't hurt either.

Mariah's album has to have a release date before it can be delayed. I hope and pray her next album isn't delayed. The delays killed the momentum of both MOAIA and MIAM.

I think both Obsessed and #Beautiful would have reached #1 if their respective albums hadn't been delayed. The American Idol executives attempted to gain viewership by pitting Mariah Carey against a woman most AI viewers didn't know. They blindsided Mariah by adding Nikki as soon as the ink on her contrac had dried which she only agreed to do if she was the sole female judge. They shot themselves in the foot.

Mariah covering Mariah (82,568)

The recent mention of Mile 7's "After", I started thinking about all those MC gems which are floating around. I would truly love to hear Mariah's own version of "I Pray". So my question to you guys is, which Mariah song would you love to hear Mariah cover? As a fan, it would be amazing if she threw an album out of her covering herself. Title suggestions please.

Mariah looked #Beautiful in the video and the remix featuring Jezzy is/was her best remix in years.

Wasn't the controversy over her bikini? I remember pictures surfacing of her in the water in the white bathing suit and that became translucent when light hit it. Or they could be talking about her falling oft of a platform in stilettos or the use of the word [censored] in the chorus, lol.

Agreed. I love how the inside source shaded the author oh so subtlety by saying “She owns multiple homes, her entire catalog of music, and she’s had numerous successful tours and residences" when it was implied she was selling the ring because she needed money. The source also confirmed what some of us already knew or at least suspected, that when Mariah signed her deal with Epic instead asking for a huge advance she asked for and recieved ownership of her back catalog. I think she signed a similiar deal with IDJ when her deal was renegotiated after the massive success of TEOM. She also owns the rights to her recordings for Virgin including 60 odd songs she recorded but didn't use. Mariah's always been a savvy business woman and if she was hard up for cash she'd be selling the ring for the $10 its worth or more since it belonged to her and she was photographed wearing it.

What was the controversy surrounding the remix video? Besides the fall I don't recall anything else. I agree the BET performance wasn't great, but I still enjoy the remix.

That remix was a disaster. I'm still upset at that performance on BET. It was a garbled piece of nonsense. Mimi sabotaged her own momentum with the controversy surrounding the making of the remix video. And even the original video was creepy as hell with her looking like a giant on the back of that motorcycle. Mimi takes a good moment and makes it odd. Beautiful could have benefited from no video and definitely no remix. It is her last song to get decent play in radio, but every tv performance of the song was a take away instead of a plus.

If there was any post-2010 Mariah song that could have been #1, it's easily #Beautiful. Mariah was ready, Miguel was hot commodity, Mariah had the Idol gig, and the song was fresh fire. Nothing on the radio in 2013 sounded like it. But the negative publicity brought about by the feud with Nicki overshadowed everything. Mariah even more unlikable than Nicki at that time, and although on paper she would have made the perfect AI judge, her performance of her duties ranged from meh to annoying (yes, the rambling was too much). In the months that followed, she had the accident, the album delay, the late rollout of supporting remixes the bad live performances, etc. All of those killed #Beautiful's chances of at least hitting the top 10. Such a waste. Maybe even a bigger waste than Migrate not being released as a single. There, Bill, I said it.

It would be cool if a remix of #Beautiful was made that sampled this song. A mashup type remix where it blends both songs to make one - duet style. Even though the song is not new anymore, it could still be done, and featured on a summer movie soundtrack.

I'm still bitter that the Jeezy remix video will never see the light of day. I have a feeling that video was going to be better than the original and might have quite possibly taken the song further. It's a great song nonetheless.

Thank you for watching the video. Watching the video and hearing some of his other songs like 112's Anywhere and Peaches and Cream, and his song with Shirellx, Poo Boo is a genius with melody and simple lyrics and titles. He co wrote Pink's Love Is Such A Crazy Thing on her first album. E=MC2 shows on his discography section on his website. Being a protege of Scott Storch, I think he offered some non-credited contribution to Side Effects. Wouldn't it be interesting if his collaboration gives MC her 19th #1. Lol.
