Re: I Like That (82,099) (82,103) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Sorry, I didn't mean to sound cruel, but I just don't know how pretty much everyone else can put out great, creative videos while a legend like Mariah can't even put an effort to do something that's more than just passable or an afterthought. Budget is most definitely not the issue. Maybe she's just reached a point in her career where she feels entitled to loosen up and not exercise the usual creative control that she would put into all of her videos. And in a very visual generation, especially for a middle-aged artist, that just won't do.

Re: Will JD and BMC get in studio with MC in 2018? (82,096) (82,101) by RibbonB from USA
I'm not seeing any new music this year. Obviously I could be wrong, but I believe the announcements of the last two weeks have thrown a serious wrench in things. But there is lots of room for the element of surprise, so we shall see. But if she is touring parts of Asia in the fall maybe she feels she will have material for a mid summer release.

Will JD and BMC get in studio with MC in 2018? (82,096) by Bobby A from United States
I don't think JD and BMC will have any songs on MC's new album. I say that because JD was asked on Twitter if he knew anything about MC's new album and his reply was "Nothing." So I feel MC wants to create a new sound by not working with her former hit making duo. Her secrecy who she is working with this time is a good thing but I am so used to her posting pictures of who she is in the studio with. I guess she wants to surprise us this summer or fall. But I am going to be really disappointed if she doesn't release new music in 2018. Only time will tell since she is back on the road in October.

Re: (82,060) and (82,063) (82,095) by Edward from USA
Licia, I don't have anything against R&B as a genre, it's just what she's been doing with it. She keeps things very basic and predictable with it. R&B is flexible and varied. I don't think John Legend's take on R&B is old and tired, the opposite.

Re: I Like That (82,091) (82,094) by RibbonB from USA
Yes, yes, yes, Janelle is very underrated. I hope that changes with this new project. I love the concept of an "emotion picture". Let's review it when it premiers in a week or so. It is to premier both in BET and MTV. And yes all of the visuals have been mind blowing. She and Missie Elliott had a fun Twitter exchange about Missie directing one of her future videos and I hope that happens. I think I love the Django Jane video the most as the visuals and the bars combined were absolutely mesmerizing, but Pynk and MMF are both iconic videos as well.

My All at 20 (82,092) by Lee from UK
I can't believe My All is 20 years old. This is definitely my favourite live version from Mariah (besides the lipped bit). I enjoy it when she makes small stylistic changes to the melody.

Re: I Like That (82,076) (82,091) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Janelle Monae is the definition of a modern artist that tries to defy all expectations with every release. I Like That is great but have you seen her latest video released before that, Pynk, that's basically a tribute to the female genitalia? That's how you do sexy without being trashy, no matter how tongue-in-cheek or too on-the-nose the approach may be. The visuals have always been on point for this girl, even more so for the songs she's released from this new project. Makes you wonder how someone as huge as Mariah could only afford to do something as cheap and basic as Infinity, You're Mine and I Don't. Janelle is also criminally underrated, but I'm really looking forward to Dirty Computer when it drops on Friday, as well as its accompanying short film that will precede its release.

I agree with most of what you said, but why R&B have to be old and tired? Was it old and tired when it was helping her on the charts? I'm just curious because I've seen you and other people say this alot.
