Tributes (105,230) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Don't hate me but I think all the tributes MC gets are just so meh. Why can't we ever get a relevant artist to do the tribute, she's THE Mariah Carey. Also why do people limit the tribute songs to only the first 3-5 years of her career. She's got so many hits I don't get why it's always VOL, Make it Happen etc.

So Ayo Edebiri is hosting SNL with "musical" guest I Don't Know Her. And the gag is that Ayo had a whole lot about her when she was going to do the Superbowl with Shakira. Listen to Ayo on this podcast dragging her.

Oh good, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that dress was awful. On a happier note, my MC30 CD set is on its way. I can't wait. I also get a bit giddy thinking of what MC could pull out of the vault for Daydream 30.

I love the style and jewelry; the concept is stunning. Unfortunately I think the train-bow should have been shimmed down a bit. The crotch area grabs your attention and looks odd. She's always been famous for her legs, so I totally get the vibe, just cover up the crotch. Love the colours, hair and makeup are perfection, and I'm obsessed with the jewelry.

I saw a picture of the vinyl packaging on X yesterday and it is similar to The Rairties packaging.

Hahaha right? To be fair though, I found out she's worn that specific designer on more than one occasion before last night. Once for the launch of the Chopard jewelry collab in 2022, and most recently for the Lovers & Friends concert, and they were both black with some gold.

Very true about the comfort zone thing. It was adventurous at least. Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing what she has in the works for this era.

Independent route? (105,223) by Bobby A from United States
Usher timed his album release around his Superbowl performance. He released his promo single, GLU in early 2023. Then he dropped the official first single, Good Good last summer. This strategy worked for promoting his new album Coming Home. MC needs something similar like headlining a huge outdoor summer concert event along with a summer promo single to garner radio airplay this summer. MC is going to need a radio and Spotify plan to be reintroduce to radio programmers.

I agree. I'll thought overall that Mariah looked stunning. Her face, hair, jewelry were all flawless. While not a huge fan of the dress, I will give her kudos for stepping outside of her comfort zone lately fashion-wise and going for more high fashion moments. We know she likes to recycle the same style of black sequined early 2000's dresses with so I'll give her a pass for trying something new. I feel a new era coming soon and if she is continuing to step outside of her comfort zone visually and musically, I can't wait.

Hahaha I too was thinking it'll be Kardashian Konnection. They wear a lot from the designer. But I agree the styling/draping could have been better to add drama like the run way.

Recording Academy Global Impact Award (105,218) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Honestly I don't know much more than you about the award but I hear it's not an actual Grammy or part of the main event so it's not a televised award. Apparently Grammy's has a pre Grammy week and this is one of the recognition awards.

Mariah's face looks straight out of 1999 it's crazy. That face no flaws. I'm torn between the dress I'm happy she's indulging in high fashion (she's wearing Schiaparelli) but I don't love the dress. For a second I thought the bodysuit is back haha until I saw the full photo.

Couture (105,216) by Norman from USA
Apparently, it's Schiaparelli design from F/W 2023. But it really needed the drama of the train and better draping around her body. I had my suspicion K. Jenner might have had something to do with it, and since discovering it is in fact a designer they regularly work with, it's definitely more of a probability that clan had a hand in this.

The shade of it all (105,215) by Norman from USA
So she didn't pay them dust because she went, but the shade was in full effect with "Is this a real Grammy? I haven't seen one in so (cue dramatic elongation of the word) long... we'll figure out what this is later." The humor is still intact

Other than herself, I'm not sure who else to blame for that ensemble moment. To me, it looked like they ran out of time on a Project Runway episode. Oh, well.

I wasn't overly keen on her choice of outfit. Top half was fine but the bottom half or lack of it wasn't great. Just my opinion.

Don't hate the player, hate the game (105,210) by Bobby A from United States
Ariana is emulating MC so much in her newly released Instagram video playing 9 tracks from Eternal Sunshine to her team at Republic. It seems like she has moved back to the pop side by working with Max Martin. Unfortunately, I can't understand why she chose Max Martin though. I have never been a fan of his production. Eternal Sunshine is out March 8th. Freaking, pull it together MC quick and fast. Ariana just may rule 2024.

I’ve never heard of this award. Why is Mariah paying dust or why is it exciting? Can someone educate me on this history? (I’m being sincere, I’m totally ignorant to this award.) Thank you for explaining the polarization on this award convo.

Independent route? (105,208) by 123 from USA
Usher has a new album coming out and is performing at the Super Bowl this year and using the promo of the performance to launch his new project. This will be his first project as an independent artist. I'm wondering if Mariah is contemplating doing the same thing and really taking her time to have several projects ready to go. The only issue is that major radio formats don't always play veteran artists past the age of 5. We will never really know if Caution would have been a hit as Epic only sent her singles to Adult AC and Urban AC radio formats instead of top 40 stations. Those small niche markets are where singles go to die a slow death without any hope of climbing. As an independent artist she can decide the singles and what radio formats she would send them to. Would a top 40 station play a new Mariah song? Maybe if it's uptempo but no present day Mariah ballad or mid tempo will get the time of day with major radio formats. Maybe her team can cut a deal with these stations in exchange for Christmas concert giveaways since her Christmas tours keep getting bigger and bigger. There has to be a way they can leverage her Christmas relevancy and dominance to help launch a new record and get it to chart well. Even at her commercial peak Mariah always got polarizing opinions, but it seems that present day Mariah is getting more love and acceptance than ever before.

Daydream 30 (105,207) by Bobby A from United States
Daydream 30 is coming up in 2025. I know she has some leftover tracks in the vault. I would love for When I Saw You to be recorded as duet with Nick Jonas or Zayn. I would be happy for extended versions on Long Ago and Melt Away. And I would love for David Morales to rework the Daydream interlude with new vocals and percussions from Sheila E.

Pretty sure they reached out to her and got confirmation she'll attend before announcing this. While Grammy's have played her dirty and honestly doesn't make much impact nowadays, the publicity is good build up to her next era.
