Happy birthday Roc and Roe (100,234) by RibbonB from USA
Wow, eleven years old. I can't wait to see their teen years. Wishing them all the best.

Re: I Don't and James Packer (100,232) (100,233) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
The video is horrible too. The live performance at the Jimmy show was average and Mariah looked tired and nervous. The only good thing from that live performance was her red dress.

I Don't and James Packer (100,232) by Bobby A from United States
When I hear I Don't, it makes me laugh. MC thought she had found her prince charming. They would have never been that Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn type of couple. The two had his business partner in his hear ear and Crustella in MC's business. That time was a messy time in MC's personal life.

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,222) (100,231) by Stacey from USA
Considering this was a description of a special moment with Derek Jeter, um yeah I'd say she wrote the song. Moving on.

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,229) (100,230) by Will from England
Think you're thinking way to much into it. Look at Emotions, they list the album as "Elsa Walking Music Vol.1" - wouldn't exactly take what's written as gospel. And not all the videos have writing credits on at all. Not a big deal.

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,227) (100,228) by T from USA
On YouTube, which is taken right from her official page, it says "lyricists" but it has everyone's name but hers. [Webmaster: Who cares?]

Yes, I meant the lyrics. Thanks for your information. YouTube should list the complete list of poducers and writers you posted. I really wish I could go back in time too right now.

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,225) (100,226) by Bill from the UK
That's not quite accurate. Mariah wrote the lyrics by herself, the music was written by herself and the Trackmasters (Jean Claude Oliver, Samuel Barnes, Cory Rooney). The Roof, as many know, samples "Shook Ones (Part II)" by Mobb Deep which in turn was written by Albert Johnson and Kejuan Muchita. So, songwriters for The Roof are as follows:

Lyrics: Carey
Music: Barnes, Carey, Johnson, Muchita, Oliver, Rooney

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,224) (100,225) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"The Roof" was written only by Mariah herself. That's what the booklet of her album says. Hmm but I don't know why there's no information about that in the streams. I'm retro.

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,223) (100,224) by T from USA
I see that. But why on her official YouTube channel it lists four different writers but none are her? Does her management upload the videos or Sony? Either way, with millions of views on the video it gives the impression to anyone who checks that she didn't write it at all. I always assumed she was the sole writer, but now I'm not so sure.

On Tidal she is down as one of the writers.

Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,222) by T from USA
I was on her official YouTube upload for [The Roof (back in time)], and when I click the more info arrow it gives all the songs credits including all the writers but Mariah's name is nowhere to be found. Am I missing something?

Re: The good and bad of Record Store Day (100,219) (100,221) by Brad from USA
Thank you all for your willingness to help me. That is very heartening. After another ton of phone calls and recalling Mariah's motto of "I will hunt you down" and driving several hours to a little record store few folks frequent, I was able to obtain two copies! They were none too cheap but about what I figured they would be as to price for such a special release. I have to admit that the relatively heavy weight of the records made it much more satisfying to drive all that way than it might otherwise have been. Anyhow, thank you again for your offers of help. That is so nice to see. I hope you enjoy your releases. From what I could garner, it seems there were about 7K copies made. Mine are like #s 2294 and 2295 I think. Thank you again.

Giving Me Life feat Brandy (100,220) by T from USA
After hearing how Brandy elevated The Roof just simply with her background vocals it made me wonder what could've happened if Mariah got her to do backgrounds on Giving Me Life for the Caution album. It would have taken an already stellar song to the next level.

Underground Sounds has 3 copies left to purchase online. It is $40 plus $5 to ship. I hope you can get one. This is how I bought mine.

Re: The voice (100,215) (100,218) by Mara from United States
Totally agree. In the concert she sang in full voice rather than whispering and her voice was strong. My first time seeing MC in Atlantic City Charmbracelet and she came out singing Heartbreaker in that two piece silver ensemble and all I can remember was how incredibly beautiful she was. Like really really beautiful. She sounded incredible.

I loved the different p.o.v of this writer and found it to be a fair review of sorts.

Oops, of course I meant "I only wanted" instead of "After Tonight". It's because I love all the three "latin ballads" (My All, After Tonight and I Only Wanted).

Re: The voice (100,214) (100,215) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Her vocals on "After Tonight", "Subtle Invitation" and "Bringin' on the heartbreak" are fantastic. I love them. But I also understand that a lot of her fans didn't like Charmbracelet at first listen. I enjoyed it and still do. "Lullaby" is so cool. The Charmbracelet lyrics are great too. The concert was a real dream come true, I still wish it was available on DVD.

Re: The voice (100,208) (100,214) by Yleg from Ukraine
Mariah chose her breathy style for Charmbracelet. She even sounded stronger but people didn't resonate with that less singable tracks. that’s the takeaway for TEOM. She and Jermaine removed that breathy vocals to a simpler throat attack for the whole album like WBT, Circles.

I am sorry hear that Brad. Call Grimeys in Nashvile on Tuesday, Goner Records in Memphis on Tuesday and Phonoluxe in Nashville on Friday. They reopen on those days. They will ship to you. Also, one of the CD Warehouses in the Atlanta area that I shop at still has 3 copies left. Email me at mercyjames678@gmail.com if you are interested.

The good and bad of Record Store Day (100,212) by Brad from USA
On the positive, it seems like all the independent record stores in Connecticut that participated in Record Store day 2022 sold out of Mariah's special re-issue of #1s. On the not so positive, it seems like those stores that received it only got 1 or 2 copies and none can be found now. Without a little luck in the universe, I guess I missed out.

#1's vinyl (100,211) by Bobby A from United States
I hope everyone picked up a copy yesterday. Has noticed how crystal clear the vocals are on this release? The sound is unbelievable this time.

Re: BBE UK iTunes (100,209) (100,210) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Yes, it's incredible. I'm so happy for Mariah's success, and it's so fun that the kids get to know how cool Mariah was back in the day, and that she is more than a Christmas act. Anytime You Need a Friend is currently at #1 on the iTunes RnB Top 100 in the UK, I have never experienced Mariah being on top of that list. Big Energy Remix has really put Mariah back on the map, and I admit, I had lost faith in that happening again, and she does it with a 27 year old song, one of the best songs she has ever made. What a time to be a Mariah fan.
