I agree Fourth of July may be likely, but as this is a continuation of Underneath the Stars, it fans the flames of my theory that Mariah and Derek were having an affair as far back as 1995. With that lens, he could also have been just a "sweet, sweet fantasy baby", and perhaps she couldn't breathe and fell deep when she first saw him? Who knows. (Thursday 4 August 2022; 20:10)

Re: Mariah / Whitney singing each other's songs (100,896) (100,900) by Mirage_Nunez from America It's funny you say you wish Mariah covered "The Lonely Talking Again", because I thought it was actually a Mariah Carey song back in the day before the internet, Google, YouTube etc. A funny story is I was actually in the music section of Circuit City combing through the Mariah cds (this had to be post Butterfly because that's when I really started my collection) and found the single for Hero then saw "Everything Fades Away" as the B-side. Since I couldn't sample the song and didn't even know the actual title of the Whitney song, I convinced myself that "Everything Fades Away" had to "The Lonely Talking Again"; I even sung the title of EFA in the same melody as the Whitney song (which I barely knew any lyrics to just the melody for the hook) to solidify it. So I promptly purchased the single and of course it wasn't the song I thought it was. However it was my first introduction to "Everything Fades Away" which I instantly loved and was blown away by. To answer your question: I would've loved to hear Whitney sing "Vision of Love" in her prime and Mariah sing "The Lonely Talking Again" or "Where You Are". (Thursday 4 August 2022; 18:06)

Funny enough she sings it in the original key, impromptu. They have two different styles of singing and different voice types. Whitney always sang in her comfortable range for the most part, but Mariah always experimented a lot and sings more outside her range. It would've been truly awesome to experience them both cover each other. The closest we have of them singing the same song is "O Holy Night". Whitney : "Vision of Love", "Fly Like a Bird" and "Love Takes Time". Mariah: "For the Love of You", "You Give Good Love", "Fine" (total bop), "How will I know". (Thursday 4 August 2022; 17:01)

I went through the credits for the Kelis song that caused so much drama and there were 16 people credited and I was like "Is this even possible?" I thought that was overkill, but 26? Haha. As much as I respect themselves as artists, I wish Mariah and Whitney covered each other in their primes. There is no way they were not singing each other's songs when they came on the radio. What do you wish you could hear Mariah sing of Whitney's and vice versa? I'd love to hear Mariah's rendition of Just the Lonely Talking Again. I'd also love to hear Whitney crush I Don't Wanna Cry. The one where Mariah wore red dress. However, I read before that Mariah and Derek did meet again in a club in 2001 after Mariah's infamous breakdown. I guess that's where the inspiration for Lullaby came from. "Hey boy, what's going on" "Thanks I'm doing okay" "Don't believe rumors hey" "How's your family, please say hello for me" "Guess we've both grown up a bit" "But I have to admit" I wonder why Mariah and Derek didn't pursue their relationship again after they met. Against All Odds and Crybaby are definitely about their break-up. Also, I really think MC wrote X-Girlfriend about herself. A Derek Jeter biographer wrote that before they officially broke up, Derek and MC ended up at the same party together. The author said that MC was trying to get too close to Derek and he told MC to get away from him. He called her crazy and really hurt MC's feelings. (Tuesday 2 August 2022; 19:30)

Re:#Butterfly25 (100,870) (100,877) by Anonymous from United States I'm definitely against any re-recordings of tracks from the "Butterfly" album. No need to mess with perfection. Before the MC#30 campaign, I would have advocated for a "Deluxe Version" release of the album with remixes and alternate versions like Fly Away (Butterfly Reprise) (Def B' Fly Mix) or The Roof (Morales Funky Club Mix) or even including the extended "remix" versions of Honey (Bad Boy), Breakdown (Mo Thugs), and The Roof (Mobb Deep). The guest features worked well on those songs and probably should have been the "album" versions. But releasing a "Deluxe" version would be kind of pointless now with all of the EPs available on Apple Music. I wouldn't mind a full-length concert release of one of the tour stops from the "Butterfly" Tour. But I'm not sure there's much of anything from this era that would be a big surprise if released.
