I can't help but wonder if my post is one that you may be referencing here? I post here for fun. My posts are not intended to be taken seriously or as fact. The speculation is part of the fun for me, the music industry is all smoke and mirrors. So even when "credible sources" are involved, there is still a level of speculation in my opinion. No one but the major players involved really know what's actually happening behind the scenes. It's called show business for a reason. Many theories are thrown around here and I think that's part of the fun honestly. The Sun makes obnoxious claims on the regular and I can find something "believable" even if it never happened. I would totally believe that she and Tanaka are not actually in a relationship just as much as I would believe that they are. And of course I believe that she could have a disagreement with Jay and a single person in the building could perceive it as a blowup. I only made this post to say that I'm here for lighthearted fun, not to be taken seriously. Like my Caution remix album will never happen, but it was fun to create (I actually just started trying to make the remixes on Garageband, fingers crossed). Also, if in fact that post was referencing mine, I never dissed Roc Nation or Jay, nor did I paint Mimi as a victim. On another note, I'm so here for a Neo Soul album from our girl. Like that feel-good D'Angelo/Maxwell/Erykah/Lauryn sound from the 90s.

Re: Mariah sensationally quits Jay-Z's management company (98,094) (98,095)

"(Mariah) has every right to demand to be Rock Nation's main priority" because she featured an already successful Jay Z on a song in 1999, and was "involved" - note, only by association - in Jay Z's promotion? Yet by your own previously posted logic, Walter, who co-wrote, produced/both 45 songs, including 7 No.1's with Mariah is owed nothing, not even acknowledgement?
Not only should Mariah not get a free pass that's not extended to others for general human behaviour, but, despite the glory days and living legend status, Mariah is owed nothing, and should expect equal treatment with those of similar popularity and investment return. If the musical entity (label/management company/etc) can't deliver that, then there will be no entity at all, as they'd bankrupt themselves promoting projects that don't cover expenditure beyond their financial worth. No entity to support artists due to financial strain then means no artists. Those considered not financially viable then struggle to get the better deals with other labels/their existing when up for renegotiation. It's not just common sense, but exactly what lead Mariah to where we are today, on more than one occasion. History teaches valuable lessons, something that Mariah and some fans often forget, to her detriment.

Mariah sensationally quits Jay-Z's management company (98,094)
by B from USA

Mariah helped Jay score his first #1 on the Hot 100 and played an instrumental role in LA Reid, making him President of Def Jam, so she has every right to demand to be Roc Nation's main priority, especially with a new album and tour. I'm sure Melissa's departure and Roc Nation singing Christina also played a role in her decision.

RocNation (98,092)

Obviously Mariah worked with Melissa mostly during tenure at RocNation, who she has a great relationship with when Melissa served as an assistant, for her manager at the time Benny Medina. I believe that when Melissa decided that she was taking her talents over to Rage, I believe that Mariah decided she would follow based on the work that they have done together, and results that she was obviously pleased with. I doubt the story that The Sun published is that credible. I also believe that MC and Hov still respect each other greatly, and they have no bad blood between them. Just my take on the management situation.

Finally a post that makes sense without a bunch of conspiracy theories and insane speculations. Must I remind some of you that when Mariah was "hot tamale" back in the 90's, many acts were dropped from the Sony roster to make budget for Mariah? Well, she isn't "hot tamale" anymore, and it's ok. She's had an exceptional career, but all careers come to and end or fade away as time goes by. As Mimi L. stated, it's business. A business that is not bringing as much revenue as it used. It's laughable to see people putting down Rock Nation or JZ just because they could've dropped Mariah, like by default Mariah is a victim. Mariah has made great decisions in her music career, but some other times she's f**d up and it has been her fault. If she comes back with the same old tired R&B in which she doesn't raise her voice in a few songs, it's a wrap. R&B can be fun and great, Bruno Mars has proven that.

Thinking about another time when MC felt that she had enough of her management company was during the recording of TEOM. Maybe she knows she has some hot songs for MC16 and she wants a manager who is going to work their hardest for her like Benny Medina did. She knows that if MC16 is not successful that she might as well retire. I don't blame her for leaving RocNation. I would love to see her sign with Coldplay's manager, Dave Holmes. He works hard for this band. Checkout his Twitter page out. He is a fun young guy.

This whole Bey angle let's be real is pure speculation. There is no evidence to back it up and also there has since been reports by [Daily Mail] and the [Mirror] refuting claims that Mariah and Jay Z departed on bad terms. Also it would make sense for Roc Nation as a business to invest more where they expect more returns, so if they invest more on Bey than they did on Mariah it's business and Mariah must have signed on to Roc Nation knowing that to be the case. Also "I feel like this Roc Nation era did exactly what it was supposed to do. It transformed her image from the nightmare era and offset the effects from that time" - is almost a near impossible thing that Roc Nation achieved for Mariah, let's not downplay that. Because right before that Mariah's image was in shambles. Jay also got Mariah (as per her own words) pushed Mariah to work with new collaborators and she agreed she appreciated that. It wasn't a short term thing Mariah signed up for. But going through so many managers in such a short span of time is definitely concerning. Mariah is a musical genius but she isn't good with management work, she needs to trust someone else with it.

Jam & Lewis' Volume 1 comes out July 9th. Amazon has already listed it on their website for $11.99 for the CD. The tracklisting is going to be announced on Somewhat Loved's launched date. Many fans on Twitter are saying don't download or stream Somewhat Loved on June 10th but rather on June 11th so it can count strongly for the Hot 100 the following week.

The Meaning of Mariah paper back (98,085)
by Bill from the UK

The paper back version of Mariah's book is taking pre-orders now. It looks like from MC's Instagram that the cover is the one of little Mariah on the beach. I really hope it is, as I know Mariah wanted that as the cover originally.

The Rainbow era lead to the Glitter era. A Mariah that was unfocused and musically everywhere. All over the map without anyone steering the ship. I felt the same about the Stella era. I think this has more to do with Mariah being so scared from her early days at Sony she has made the decision that nobody will tell her what to do anymore. The brief period when she listened to LA Reid/Benny Medina we got TEOM. Mariah's talent is music. Not management so why does she insist on only keeping "yes men" in her company.

Roc Nation (98,081)
by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa

I believe most of what's in this article. Mariah has always been in front of Bey. Mariah created her own lane and Beyoncé has swerved into that lane many times in her career. Beyoncé is not selling anything close to what she used to. I'm sure The Carters are gearing up for a major career shift for Bey, so Mariah is being pushed to the side as they make a comfortable spot for Queen Bey to sit higher than her peers that are still bringing in consistent coin. This is no shade to Beyoncé, I think she's hard working and incredibly talented and I'm a fan for sure. But looking at that list, I can't believe Kelly Rowland is being managed by them. She seems very dissatisfied with the state of her singing career. And they didn't even name Caution as a project released under this management. I feel like this Roc Nation era did exactly what it was supposed to do. It transformed her image from the nightmare era and offset the effects from that time. It wasn't built to last. I have a feeling we will be getting an almost Rainbow-era Mariah back. Unapologetically herself, fun and lighthearted, heavily involved with the lambily, artistically confident Mariah.

MC just was not happy with the "Instant Grats" promotional plan implemented for the album along with some other Caution missteps that she did not like. I am down for a heavily influenced R&B album for MC16. Sounds like she really wants to create the magic that Butterfly and TEOM garnered for her career. They were both turning points in her career. The next 7 months are going to be interesting.

Did y'all read the article about Mariah and Jay Z having a huge fall out over her future career path and that's why she left? I hope it's not true. Mariah and Jay Z have been friends for such a long time and have only spoken really highly of each other. I would want them to stay friends. I enjoy her collaborations with him.

Honestly, YG's rap diminished the song for me and was borderline irritating, this no-rap version is so much better. Lol. Plus the video also didn't do much for the song, such a waste considering that Donnell Jones song and album is such a modern classic.

Time Of Your Life (98,076)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia

Don't you guys think it's the right time for Mariah to go to the studio and make a full version of the song and relase it now. I mean like right now. The last time Mariah ever released a hot uptempo song as a lead single was in 2009 with Obsessed. She missed a big chance by not releasing You Don't Know What To Do (or Thirsty) for the Me I Am Mariah era, and A No No for Caution era. Stop releasing mid tempo ballad (ala We Belong Together) for the first single in every new project (You're Mine, Infinity, With You/GTFO, Save The Day) because it clearly shows that the formula didn't work. Time of Your Life would be the best single, plus she can make a hot video with good storyline. Mariah could also bring back Agent M vs Bianca in the video.

To be honest... (98,075)
by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa

This will never happen, but a girl can daydream. I would love it if instead of a whole new album this year Mariah released a Caution Remix album. She mentioned wanting features on at least a couple of the tracks from that album. With her recent creative and non-traditional career offerings (at-home concerts, memoir, Rarities, MC30, Magical Christmas, etc), this concept feels fresh and exciting and yet right in line. It could even be a mixtape as part of a rollout of a potential new album. Maybe even bundled with Angel's Advocate.
My version is below, I'd let DJ Suss One, Kaytranada, and Missy produce the whole thing. New vocals and epic interpolations in the style of My All/Stay Awhile and Heartbreaker/If you should ever be lonely. I'd even throw Amorphous into the mix to produce that aspect with Mariah, across the whole project. If you loved Caution as much as I did, who would you want to see featured?
1) GTFO Ft. Ariana Grande 2) With You Ft. Zayn 3) Caution Ft. Drake 4) A No No Ft. Missy and Doja Cat 5) The Distance Ft. The Weeknd 6) Giving Me Life Ft. H.E.R. 7) One Mo Gen Ft. Brandy 8) 8th Grade Ft. Khalid 9) Stay Long, Love You Ft. Kaytranada 10) Portrait Ft. Jojo

Tea on Somewhat Loved (98,074)
by Bobby A from United States

I have some tea everybody. I did a search on Facebook and stumbled upon the lyrics to Somewhat Loved on Genius.com under Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. I scrolled through to verify that it was actually the lyrics and it was. And then I noticed that The Dream and Mariah Carey are credited as the songwriters. I knew that melodic styling was different and that we have heard it before. This must be the song they collaborated on during the MIAM recording sessions. The breakdown in the song is definitely The Dream.
