To be honest... (98,075)
by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa

This will never happen, but a girl can daydream. I would love it if instead of a whole new album this year Mariah released a Caution Remix album. She mentioned wanting features on at least a couple of the tracks from that album. With her recent creative and non-traditional career offerings (at-home concerts, memoir, Rarities, MC30, Magical Christmas, etc), this concept feels fresh and exciting and yet right in line. It could even be a mixtape as part of a rollout of a potential new album. Maybe even bundled with Angel's Advocate.
My version is below, I'd let DJ Suss One, Kaytranada, and Missy produce the whole thing. New vocals and epic interpolations in the style of My All/Stay Awhile and Heartbreaker/If you should ever be lonely. I'd even throw Amorphous into the mix to produce that aspect with Mariah, across the whole project. If you loved Caution as much as I did, who would you want to see featured?
1) GTFO Ft. Ariana Grande 2) With You Ft. Zayn 3) Caution Ft. Drake 4) A No No Ft. Missy and Doja Cat 5) The Distance Ft. The Weeknd 6) Giving Me Life Ft. H.E.R. 7) One Mo Gen Ft. Brandy 8) 8th Grade Ft. Khalid 9) Stay Long, Love You Ft. Kaytranada 10) Portrait Ft. Jojo

Tea on Somewhat Loved (98,074)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
I have some tea everybody. I did a search on Facebook and stumbled upon the lyrics to Somewhat Loved on Genius.com under Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. I scrolled through to verify that it was actually the lyrics and it was. And then I noticed that The Dream and Mariah Carey are credited as the songwriters. I knew that melodic styling was different and that we have heard it before. This must be the song they collaborated on during the MIAM recording sessions. The breakdown in the song is definitely The Dream.

I predicted on my Twitter page - Tony Campbell - that it would be released on June 12th. I know how the music business operates. The snippet was released to guage the public's reaction to it. The title is MC all the way.

So much potential was squandered in the making of E=MC2. The world was waiting after TEOM and she could've experimented with Santana and the likes to make some stellar music. Instead she played it way to safe and had JD do like five songs out of fourteen.

Now all of the guessing can be put to rest the song is for Jimmy, and Terry's project that they have been working on. I believe that Babyface is apart of the project as well. I liked the snippet can't wait to hear the song in its entirety. MC is actually considered the feature artist on the song.

I forgot about this one. I love it when it MC can show her unique vocal technique and tone to any musician's instrumental styling. I wish we had a video of her first meeting with Willie Nelson during the writing of Right To Dream. We need some huge collaboration surprises this year.

Carlos Santana collab (98,068)

I need them to work together. The Macy's commercial where she sings to his melody in Spanish and then starts scatting is nice. I've been wanting this collab for a long time.

I think she's right though. Mariah's not dead yet. It's hard to gage what will live on after them. Although, that Christmas anthem is hard to deny.

I think Triumphant should be a FIFA song. It fits so well. One of her upbeat dance pop versions. It's one of her songs that works so well as an anthem.

Lol, you wanna get the biard moving with I Don't? Pass, worse than crack unity, but consider this my contribution to the conversation. I wonder why Mimi has blanked out on good video concepts of late.

That’s a brilliant video idea. Sometimes I wish Mariah would just hire the lambs do do video concepts. A video with a replay value can do wonders for the song.

Breaking down the Lead The Way runs (98,062)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
For all the Lead The Way lovers or just folks who love a good vocal breakdown, this is a must watch. I love how he plots every single note and every goes into detail in the small little inflections and changes within each run. She sings them so fast I guess I didn't realize how complex they are. It's one thing to be able to mimic her runs like the Lead The Way challenge but it's an entirely different thing to actually come up with these runs. This is a must watch. I felt like I was back in math class trying to get from point A to point Z. I love how the guy doing the analysis gives a lot of respect for the complexity of these runs.

New game: favorite non single Walter album cut (98,061)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Let's play a game. Since so many people love Walter on this board, what is your favorite Walter produced non single, album cut. My vote is for All I Ever Wanted for the lyrics alone. "If you only knew, what I feel for you. If you only lived for me, the way I live for you." This song always gives me the feels. I seldom listen to it for some reason but when I do I get lost in the song. Anyone else? Your pick and reasons why.

I love I don't. I think it got a bad rap because it came out during the nightmare era and YGs intro was entirely too long and only brought the song down. I always listen to the no rap version of this song. I love the melody to the verses and the pre chorus and lyrically the first verse is very Mariah while the second verse is very Mimi. She looked great in the video but the 3 and a half minutes of meaningless posing without any attempt at a storyline killed the video. Had they had Mariah walking in the bedroom of that mansion catching her WBT lead in bed with another woman and Mariah storming out of the house while stealing the keys to his luxury vehicle, crashing it and it burst into flames with a trunk full of his belonging and the skirt of the wedding dress peaking out of the trunk... any lamb on this board could have came up with a great inexpensive concept. If you were hired to redo the I Don't video, what would your concept be and how would you roll out promotion for the song if you were in charge. Let's get this board moving again.

I love Lead The Way, Glitter is one of my all-time favorite albums. Lead The Way, If We, All My Life, Don't Stop, Twister, and of course Loverboy. What a gem of a soundtrack lol. There For Me is sooooo underrated and under appreciated, I wish it was included on the album. It really is a shame what happened to this soundtrack and how the movie was taken down the wrong path from the original concept. I am still waiting patiently for the digital movie release. I'm praying that on the 20th anniversary we get the album te-released and the movie with tons of extras and all the music videos in high def. Fingers crossed.

You're welcome Nikki! Glad you like it. It's always in my playlist and until now, I still regret that many listeners surely have not heard LTW because of the album and movie controversies. Glitter is one of her best albums. It's in my top 5 or even top 3!

After reading your post I feel like I really heard Lead the Way for the very first time. It's played dozens of times in the past 20 years but I've never given it a chance for some reason. But I put it on right after reading your post and I love it so much. It has that haunting vulnerability that I love from her. Thanks for turning me on to such a beautiful song.

Lead The Way (98,051)
by Lainsky from Philippines

I was reading an article from Archives mentioning Carey's lost music. And I have to agree with what they said about "Lead The Way". Next to Butterfly song, I believe this is one of her best and greatest ballads and work in her entire career. If she could create something like this and release it commercially, it could be, again, her chance to have a worldwide hit, if not hitting No. 1. Just saying, but I don't think it's going to happen with the people she's currently working with for her next album.
