My local coffee shop (96,419)
by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway

I thnik there might be a Mariah fan working at my local coffee shop. Mariah is not often played here in Norway, you can hear her on slow jam radio channels, where LTT, WYB, IBT and Hero being played. But at this coffee shop I have heard ABMB, Without You, and now lastly, A No No.
I have to find this person and befriend him/her.

This year has done wonders for Mariah's reputation and legacy. I know The Rarities didn't do that well, but I think a lot of people had to choose between the album or the memoir, and they obviously choose the memoir. I was lucky enough to be able to buy both. I think its sales will improve once AIWFCIY begins its yearly ascent to the top of the charts.

Agreed. This album is like a greatest hits from an alternate reality. If she had rerecorded these songs and updated their productions, she could've just turned this into a new studio album.

Listening to Mariah tell her life story, her unvarnished truth, not only made me cry and laugh out loud, but it also gave me a better understanding of the woman whose music is the soundtrack of (to?) my life. I love how she weaves her lyrics into the narrative. I always figured Honey and The Roof were about Jeter but was surprised to learn he also inspired My All. I think he's also the inspiration for Subtle Invitation, Lullaby, WBT, DFAU, Mine Again, and countless other hits. Not him but what he represented. I hope that makes sense.

Re: Firecracker Loverboy vs Cameo Loverboy vs Remix Lo (96,389) (96,414)

I laughed so hard I spit my drink out. I like both versions, but the Cameo version is better than the Firecracker version. I wonder if Cory Rooney, who had previously worked with Mariah, was involved in the theft of the sample? Let's not forget that with I'm Real, J.Lo and Tommy foiled two of Mariah's songs because the Murder Inc. Remix of I'm Real is a knockoff of If We, which was Mariah's best chance at a hit after the Loverboy debacle.

A lyric video for Save The Day was released. Also the Tokyo Dome concert on YouTube, available as individual tracks. That's what I've noticed tonight.

I'm on the last chapter of the book. I know that's not interesting but I'm wondering about the many f... in the book. It's unpleasant to read that expression on so many sides. The three chapters were okay but somehow very depressive. I hope the last chapter is a bit "lighter". Of course it's non-fiction but after reading it, it leaves me a bit unquestionably. So to do a list for "The Rarities" will be a good idea.

Now I happen to know that William cannot resist a list. Come out, come out, wherever you are.
1. Everything Fades Away 2. Firelover Crackerboy 3. One Night 4. All I Live For 5. Here We Go Round Again 6. Out Here On My Own 7. Cool On You 8. Mesmerised 9. Do You Think Of Me 10. Slipping Away 11. Can You Think Of Me 12. Close My Eyes Acoustic 13. Save The Day
I think I have been a bit unfair to All I Live For. I cannot get the chorus of this song out of my head. I just woke up singing it.
The Rarities is one of the best things Mariah had ever released. A little part of me thinks she should have rerecorded all the tracks that were not previously released and made a new album with them.

Firecracker vs. Cameo version (96,398)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

Personally I feel like both versions of Loverboy. The original Firecracker version would have worked in the movie as well as on the soundtrack to fit the pop 80's feel. The Cameo was a genius move after all the controversy. The final product was also a great song, and fit like a glove on urban radio. Pay homage to 80's R&B. In my opinion both versions serve a great purpose. Also kudos to MC for being a masterful creative genius for being able to make two great versions of a great song. I can appreciate both versions for what they are because they both fit the project very well. However the Firecracker version is fun pop side of MC. The Cameo is the hip-pop side of MC. I would say listen to the version that you like the best.

I like both versions of the song but I prefer the Cameo version. It has been one of my favorite singles from Mariah since 2001. The Firecracker version is good too because it’s very catchy but I like it less than than Cameo version, sounds a little disjointed, sorry about it. Overall Glitter is some of her best work and where she had lots of creative freedom, even the songs that were straight out of the 80s she found a way to make them her own. All My Life and If We are my favorites along with Loverboy.

Me too Stacey. Yes maybe her vocals sound stronger on the Firecracker one, and I do like that it is playful. However for me it also sounds very busy musically. Gasp. I guess we are sinners.

Not always true, lol. I prefer her pop stuff on most days, but love the Cameo version much more than the Firecracker one.
