Re: The Meaning of Ridicule (94,529) (94,540) by Tijl from Belgium
Perhaps that is the whole point of this book. Mariah has referred to the experience of writing her autobiography as intensely cathartic. I believe the "meaning" indicates she explores the meaning of her being her on this planet. An in-depth story of the why and how. She has said many times in interviews that at a young age she believed and hoped that fame would validate her existence. That clearly hasn't worked out the way she anticipated. Don't we all at a certain point in life question our time on earth, the unbearable lightness of our being?

the dictionary: meaning ~ adjective
"intended to communicate something that is not directly expressed"

There is much more to this title than supposed narcissism.

Look at the Instagram pic with the sunflower, it's much more beautiful. I don't think she's overweight, of course no top form but hey I gained a little weight too since the Corona crisis. Not everyone is motivated to have a training right now. And most of the people need "nerve food" at those times. I always think a little bit more looks better than too thin, but of course a sporty, healthy figure looks great too.

I'm also not a fan of the third person thing. But yes Mariah seems to like it a lot. I would have prefered another title but if the book is good I can live with that.

It's at least my birthday, and Daydream was released on that day in Norway.

Article: Mariah Carey says she will lose entire singing career (94,535) by Lafa from Sweden
Bullshit. That singing technique sits in the throat/tounge - not in the lungs.

Re: Mariah's memoir (94,525) (94,534) by Tijl from Belgium
The picture is very much the diva. Big hair, some skin and diamonds. If it is good enough for her, it is certainly good enough for me. I hope the book includes tons of unpublished pictures.

I don't love the cover, but it's ok. She's not leaking anything it seems though.

Book cover (94,532) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
The photograph they chose is great, however. She doesn't have the tits hanging out.

I wonder if she even mentions her numerous breast augmentations. A hundred says she won't. Another hundred says this book will be a whitewash. It is not in Mariah's interest to give her critics ammunition and she never, ever goes off-brand. She won't cause beef with other people in case they reveal things about her which are off-brand, also. This book, especially given the violently vain title, will be Mariah reminding everyone of the promotional narratives about her that have been pushed over the years. It will be an interesting read. But this is a promo tool. Nothing more. At least it has "meaning".

Re: The meaning of Mariah Carey (94,521) (94,531) by Tijl from Belgium
I have a slight hunch the launch will be accompanied by a new album with the same title. We all can expect a major PR campaign in September, without a doubt.

Re: This picture of Mariah is everything (94,526) (94,530) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I saw the photo in the news section where she has a double chin and thunder thighs. She is overweight. I don't want to attack her for it. I want her to lose weight and be the best she can be. Why do all other celebrities manage their weight and image and Mariah cannot?

The Meaning of Ridicule (94,529) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
What an absolutely horrific, nauseatingly self-referential, hideously verbose title. But then Mariah is brilliant at those, isnt she? The Meaning of Mariah Carey? What a terrible title for an autobiography. These books are supposed to insightful with people revealing themselves with humility, endearing themselves to the reader, offering a message of inspiration, hope or, yes, resilience. Your autobiography's title referring to yourself in the third person and declaring that said person has a "meaning" in the world is just beyond hilarious. Mariah is already pillioried for vanity and this title will be mocked and ridiculed in reviews and by the public alike. She may as well call it "Why I Am So Great".

Memoir (94,527) by Brad from USA
I’ve already pre-ordered but am disappointed the book’s cover photo is from her Billboard magazine shoot of last December. I understand given Covid but frankly I prefer some of her photos during the quarantine. I would have preferred a more mature, natural, timeless photo. However, I plan not to judge a book by its cover. Be well.

Mariah isn't overweight at the moment. Have you seen the recent photos of her leaving her apartment in NY?

Re: Mariah's memoir (94,516) (94,525) by B from USA
I'm looking forward to reading Mariah's memoirs and I think it was a smart decision to use a ghost writer or collaborator to write the book because Mariah isn't an author and she is known to go off on tangents.

I like the title, but I hate the picture they choose for the cover.

The Meaning of Mariah Carey (94,520) by Terna from Nigeria
I have purposefully in the past avoided reading autobiographies of Mariah, as it wasn't really her speaking but this one I most certainly would be getting. I'm glad she's telling her story, Unfiltered. September 29th, isn't that the anniversary of MOAIA?

She tweeted and looks like there's a site that shows the cover and takes preorders. Says it's written with Michaela Angela Davis. I'm really looking forward. I feel like I'll need a couple days off of work so that I can immerse in it without interruption.

Mariah's memoir (94,517) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Yes there is a co-writer involved. She actually wrote the Essence piece on MC during TEOM era. I honestly cannot remember her name at the moment. However I am still excited to read what is between the pages of this book based on what MC posted yesterday on Instagram in regards to her memoir. Hopefully we will all learn something, as well as get a better insight of MC after loving her, and music for so long. Be blessed, be safe, and enjoy your day Archives family.

It would not surprise me if there was a ghostwriter involved. Didn't she say a while back that she was? I have a faint recollection of her mentioning it very briefly, but I may be wrong. Can't wait for the audiobook version as well.
