Re: Mariah Pride (89,809) (89,818) by Tijl from Belgium
Could you provide us with a few examples of these supposedly attributing to the globe's culture?

Re: Mariah Pride (89,809) (89,817) by B from USA
Instead of being negative why not be festive? Mariah is a gay icon who has donated money and time to gay rights. Mariah isn't going to sell gay pride themed apparel and merchandise and not donate a portion of the proceeds to charity, she's not tone deaf.

Moments (89,816) by B from USA
Mariah has sang Slipping Away, Melt Away, Through The Rain, and Circles. These are the moments that make life worth living.

Re: The return of impressive vocals (89,812) (89,815) by Licia from USA
I just watched a few clips and I'm happy. She did good on most of the US stops of the tour, but she's giving really great vocals on the European leg. All I want is great vocals. I don't care about the looks or whether she's skinny or fat. As long as I get my vocals I'm good. I can't complain.

Just no. Missed your meds today, clearly.

The return of impressive vocals (89,812) by Myles from CT, USA
All I can say is wow. Mariah is truly killing this European tour. She sounds terrific and what a treat she’s giving everyone over there. I literally about screamed listening to her actually slay the snippets of Melt Away, Slipping Away. Endless Love was impressive and beautiful. What an iconic queen. I am so happy for our legend.

Re: Five most iconic Mariah recordings (89,783) (89,811) by Terna from Nigeria
1. Vision of Love (Has there been any other debut song this powerful since? I doubt anyone else has sung about realizing a dream.)
2. One Sweet Day (If you've ever experienced loss you'll relate to this song.)
3. When You Believe (Two of the greatest vocalists this world would ever know/hear on the perfect duet in my opinion.)
4. All I Want for Christmas is You (Long as there's Christmas, there'll always be Mariah Carey.)
5. We Belong Together (The perfect love song.)

Re: Mariah Pride (89,799) (89,810) by Edward from USA
In terms of the support she gets from the LGBT community, Mariah donates a percentage of her tour merchandise accordingly.

The Lesbians: 5%
The Gays: 25%
The Bisexuals: 2.5%
The Transgenders: 20%

If you're cisgender, Mariah doesn't know you with her money.

Lee, buy as many tour items as you please, 25% is huge.

"I think gay people need a month in which to be proud as much as Morgan Freeman needs a month to be taught about black history."

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm not opposed to having days/months dedicated to minorities in order to celebrate the long road that we have traveled but, at the end of the day, these notions only serve to reinforce our minority status. Neither gays nor blacks are minorities anymore. We are proud to be who we are every single day and we have all contributed to the culture of the globe far more than the straight white male.

Having said that, I want me a Rainbow tee with the lollipop. Bring on the merch Mariah.

Re: Five most iconic Mariah recordings (89,795) (89,808) by Stacey from USA
I think after 26+ years of being a fan I finally have chosen my favorite song. It just hit me while I read your list. "Close to me. Oh I need you close to me. Loving me." Chills.

Re: Five most iconic recordings (89,801) (89,807) by Hector from Mexico
Even though I love The Wind, I wouldn't call it "iconic". One of her best vocals but far from iconic. (Just my opinion.)

Re: Mariah Pride (89,799) (89,806) by Andrew from London UK
1. Mariah has Pride merchandise? 2. Why? 3. If she does, is there a reasonable expectation that she should donate to charity? 4. "Pride month"?

I think gay people need a month in which to be proud as much as Morgan Freeman needs a month to be taught about black history.

Brian McKnight (89,804) by Will from Australia
I went to see Brian McKnight last night and it was Mariah who introduced me to him through the WYC duet (although I do still prefer the solo version).

Anyway before the show the DJ that was the support act played not one, not two, but three Mariah songs - Someday (definitely a lamb), Emotions and Honey (so so def remix).

Everyone was bopping along and it was just awesome to see Mariah back in the good books with the general public again.

Mr McKnight didn't perform any of WYC which I expected but had hoped. Boy can he sing.

Five most iconic recordings (89,801) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
1. Vision of love. This is where it all began this song was an R&B smash that crossed over to the pop side, and Mariah Carey the superstar was born. Also this was a bold introduction to the world of pop culture. 2. Fantasy (remix). This is the reason we have the hip-pop formula we know today who knew this pop balladeer diva could get a little rough around the edges and still make a classic that still bangs today. Taking that risk once again put Mariah at the forefront of pop culture. 3. All I want for Christmas is you. The queen of Christmas has arrived. Mariah was able to create an original song that has a timeless feel by connecting two universal themes Christmas and love which fans and others can relate to. 4.We Belong Together. This song was a rebirth for Mariah after some very hard times. This song was definitely proof that no one can do what Mariah can do. 5. The Wind. This shows Mariah tap into jazz territory and do it with great ease.

Mariah Pride (89,799) by Lee from UK
Does anyone know what proportion (if any) of Mariah's Pride merchandise sales goes towards LGBT charities?

Documentary about the vocal trinity (89,798) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yesterday there was a doc about the vocal trinity (Whitney, Mariah and Celine). Believe it or not but Mariah got most praised. It was on the French/German channel Arte, where they showed the snippets of Vanishing and Vision If Love live. There was also a classical singer who talked about the techniques of the three best singers. It was very interesting. Mariah really did give her all since 90 and I'm so happy that she seems to take care more of herself lately. They showed little footage and interviews from 90 until now and my thought was I love her so much, you have to. I wish all lambs a fantastic time who are attending her show today and on Sunday. I read Paris is sold out.

Honey remixes (89,797) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Lately I'm a bit obsessed with Mariah's remixes. I rediscovered the Honey remixes and they are so good. Most people think of Mariah as the ballad queen and Christmas of course. I wish more would know about her uptempos and dance songs. But somehow it's also nice that only fans knows the true treasures.

Rocketman (89,796) by Bobby A from United States
This movie was so good. I left the theater wanting to see the Elusive Chanteuse. I can see Butterfly, Looking In, We Belong Together, I Wish You Well, Languishing and Portrait play out before my eyes on the big screen. The music industry is so cruel.

Re: Five most iconic Mariah recordings (89,783) (89,795) by Special K from USA
1. Vision of Love - Introduction of melisma. Towards the end of the song when Mariah sings, "and it was all" by making the word "all" a freaking 100 word syllable was absolutely chilling along with introducing the high note which was a freak of nature.
2. Emotions - Really showcasing the richness of that lower registry along with hitting those iconic high notes bouncing in synch with the upbeat "make you feel good" piano playing of the late great David Cole is pure perfection. You also felt personality coming from that voice.
3. Love You Till The End Of Time - Just pure perfection. Mariah showcases all facets of her voice along with bombastic power, prowless, and pure raw emotion. Sometimes I straight cry when I hear that song.
4. Always Be My Baby - Is a GOAT. Historic classic. Hands down Top 3 greatest pop songs of all time ever.
5. All I Want For Christmas - Another GOAT. Mariah is guaranteed a hit song every year, lol. No disrespect towards to Ms. Mariah but it's really the background singers that "carry" that song.
5. We Belong Together - Yes, I have to sneak in WBT. This song is a return to prominence. This song is historic, broke all kinds of records. If another singer ever tries to sing WBT they outta get they ass kicked.

It's spelt "darling". You don't need to change the English spelling to make it sound English. You rhotic English speakers just don't speak properly.
