The Grammys (108,101) by Bobby A from United States
I have been trying to figure out for years why she is treated like royalty. Why does the Beehive go crazy when she releases new music or announces a tour? Also, I think there have been a lot of ghost writers on her albums who have given her songwriter credits. Take away all of the ghost writers Beyonce couldn't write one hit song.

Beyonce is highly overrated, much like Alicia Keys was at her peak.

No worries, I understand totally. Her music just means so much to me that I really find it healing in some ways.

Sorry Robert, but no. She sounds really bad. And struggles through basic notes now. Her voice is ice cold if it makes sense. This is Whitney Houston all over again if not even worse, because even in that, Whitney had her moments where you heard her old sound shine through - she had more voice to work with than the Mariah of today, it's just bad all through - low notes, barely there chest voice, no modal voice (mix between chest and head), totally closed up 5th and 6th octave (no access at all), weak to non-existent falsetto/superhead voice if any, and irritating screechy whistle notes. With all these, where does she even begin? And with a repertoire like hers that requires all these parts of voice. It's so sad to witness.

Jamie, well said. I agree 100%. A lot of us that have followed MC throughout her career are genuinely concerned about her. I voice my concern because I care. I want the best for MC and lately, I just don’t feel like we are getting her best. She is just not performing up to the caliber of a legend who has been on stage for 35 years. It’s not about being negative but expressing genuine concern.

Covers compilation album (108,096) by Anonymous from United States
I would love for Mariah to release a covers compilation album. She has performed, recorded, and released so many great ones that it would be nice to have them all in one place. This is what my track listing would look like:

1. Don't Play that Song (live from Tatou Club 1990)
2. I'll Be There (TOTP or MTV Unplugged)
3. Without You
4. My Prayer
5. Just Be Good to Me (Music Box or Daydream tour live)
6. The Beautiful Ones
7. If Only You Knew (Essence Awards)
8. Chain of Fools (Divas Live)
9. Sweetheart
10. I Still Believe
11. Do You Know Where You're Going To?
12. Hopelessly Devoted to You (Butterfly tour)
13. Against All Odds
14. Out Here On My Own
15. Didn't Mean to Turn You On
16. Last Night a DJ Saved My Life (No Rap)
17. Bringin' On the Heartbreak
18. You and I (BET Walk of Fame)
19. Help Me Make it Through the Night (from "Tennessee")
20. I Want to Know What Love Is
21. One More Try
22. Don't Explain (Elusive Chanteuse tour)
23. Lullaby of Birdland (Elusive Chanteuse tour)
24. Nevertheless (I'm In Love With You)

There are a couple of others songs she interpolated on recordings or remixes - "Stay A Little While Child", "Make It Last Forever", "If You Should Ever Be Lonely", "Pure Imagination", "Funkin' for Jamaica", etc - but I think that covers most or all of them.

GTFO (108,095) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Let's play a guessing game: Who in the Mariahsphere of people she no longer associates with professionally or personally is most likely to at some point have posted at some point in their life? In no particular order, I nominate
1. Ben Margulies
2. Tommy Mottola, Corey Rooney, Benny Medina
3. Former assorted friends who backtalked her BTS
4. Ex-family members
5. Walter Afanasieff

Of course they would end up on Mariah centered websites - as the golden butter on their bread is churned by her vocals, writing and production talent.

I imagine they take great pleasure in planting ridiculously negative and untrue stories about Mariah's appearance, vocals or her impact as an artist. Walter A has been the saltiest cracker claiming he's the king of Christmas and everything else is a lie. Crack me up. Funny how he's never the one in court fighting false plagiarism-suits every December. But I digress.

If everybody knows Mariah doesn't fool with you anymore (and why) but you're ego won't let you face the music, the only way you could get away with openly listening and talking about her music is to claim you're just a random online fan with no personal animosity or hate towards MC fueling all manner of weird speculation about surgeries she's never had nor will ever have. Telling her to stop singing, performing or make new music. What kind of psychedelics are these "fans" on that causes them to hallucinate away the longevity Mariah has achieved vocally? You're not influencing anyone intelligent. Mariah has maintained a 5 octave range for over 3 decades and a prolific songwriting and album release streak.

It's not harsh when you consider the source. I mean what would you expect? Mariah has countless enemies. Of course they would congregate online as they have long ago lost their audience with her.

So wave bye-bye to the nice-nasty peanut gallery ghosts of Mariah's past, kids. We with them well, ultimately. Much love.

Stating facts isn't negativity. Unfortunately, in today's world, simply acknowledging reality can be seen as offensive. I never said Mariah's voice is gone, I said "the voice as we knew it", as in the one we fell in love with, is gone forever. And to be clear, I'm not even referring to her '90s voice. If we're being truly honest, setting aside our love for her and her music, it's undeniable her voice being reduced to about 25% of what it was.

Performing isn't just about dancing, it's about commanding the stage. These days, they wrap her up in extravagant gowns like a tamale, and she just stands there, barely moving, almost as if she's in a daze while people mop the floor around her.

That said, I'm still a fan and excited for whatever she has in store. As I mentioned, I'd love "The Rarities II". I'll always support her, but I simply don't enjoy her live performances anymore. I made my peace with that so I don't even look for them. If you do, that's great, enjoy them as much as you like.

Zack I appreciate your message and also your passion. But no one has been negative if anything we have shown our love for Mariah. We all too have passion hence why we are upset at what's is now. It doesn't come from a place of hate, it comes from a place inside us that only wants the best for her. There comes a time in life when you have to accept things have changed both in yourself and from those around you. It's not negative it's just reality unfortunately. And yes we are so blessed to have lived in the same time as such greatness, but in my opinion without being negative and yes we don't know what's going on in her life, that greatness of her live performances has past. She can continue to perform on stage if she so chooses, it's her life, but in my opinion I would stop. I wish you well.

It's a bit harsh to say that her voice is gone, come on, have some respect. Her voice is still here, obviously with some struggles, but it is still there. Regarding the stage presence - we don't know what is she going through or if she is just catching the momentum.

Feeling sad watching her old videos? Come on, you should be happy for them and enjoy them. We were lucky to be alive in the same time as she was and be able to enjoy them and her talent.

I swear to God, sometimes I get so mad with the negativity here.

Vegas show 2025 (108,089) by Brandon from USA
Not only is the voice gone, but any resemblance of stage presence is gone as well. Whenever she's on stage now, she's on autopilot with the pre recorded vocals and giving minimal effort. Every show I watch clips hoping that this is the show that she will remind us why she is the Mariah Carey but it's always more of the same. I'm about to give up hope that we will ever get anything more than what she is giving right now.

And FYI, I doubt there is any new music ready for her to release. Please don't hold your breath.

I too tend to avoid the live videos. I have accepted that it is something she is going to do - I am sure the experience overall is enjoyable and better than what comes off in the clips. Rareties II would be amazing. Reclaiming her Hot 100 crown will be a sweet moment this year.

I am still hopeful for some new music this year and I'm sure I will enjoy whatever she puts out, she's taken this long so it surely won't be something subpar. I have never not enjoyed any Mariah album. I enjoyed Caution.

Whatever the reason for her vocal decline, imagine if it pains us - how does she feel about it. It is obviously out of her control or being the perfectionist that she is she would have done something about it if she could have.

MC can get her voice back. I believe in my heart that she will. I feel bad now that I was so excited for a new album every two years from 1990-1999. Maybe every five years would have been better to preserve her voice. Just thinking out loud. Any way I believe Teddy Swims is the first male artist to come along in a while to have the vocal technique and range like MC had in the 1990s.

I completely agree with you, Jamie. It pains me to accept that the voice we once knew is gone forever. That's why I no longer enjoy her live performances, not out of hate, but because it brings a sense of sadness. The whistle register was the last piece of her vocal magic, but now it sounds flat and unpleasant.

Honestly, I'm more excited about The Rarities II than anything else at this point. It has dawned on me that Mariah hasn't recorded anything in six years, likely because she can no longer deliver decent vocals, even in the studio. It's truly heartbreaking.

That said, I'm deeply grateful for the incredible legacy and discography she has left us. When she was at her best, she was truly in a league of her own.

At this point, I just want to celebrate one last victory, her reclaiming the record for the song with the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. If nothing else, it's a testament to her enduring impact on music history.

Pre Grammy awards show (108,085) by Bobby A from United States
R&B artists were recognized with many awards during pre Grammys ceremony. Chris Brown won for Best R&B Album and Muni Long won for Best R&B Performance. I feel that there is about to be a shift in the music industry this year with R&B album releases. Chris Brown's album is mostly full of afrobeats that took him out of his comfort zone. Now if Beyonce wins Album of the Year, there will certainly be other R&B artists stepping out of their comfort zone. MC, this is your year to step out of your comfort zone and release an album you have never done before. Start a new genre of music, MC. I know you can do it with some help from some industry heavy hitter producers and songwriters.

She sounds ok, not sure it's making me want to go watch her again though. I've been lucky enough to watch her numerous times over the years. I'm more looking for what magic she can create in the studio these days. I hate to say it but from the clips I've seen it's made me think "give it up" and I never ever thought I would think that about Mariah. Maybe it's just the amateur clips not showing the full experience of being there. This is not me being hateful in anyway. I've always loved Mariah, but from the girl I once knew it's hard for me to hear her changed voice live. After I listened to a few clips I closed YouTube and my Apple Music kicked back in with Alone In Love playing and that's what gives me chills, the voice that was. I pray she gives us a great next album though and I'm proven wrong as she is a legend.

My 2025 - hopes, dreams, wishes, and prayers for Mariah Carey (108,082) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
And you're right, Bobby. Charmbracelet was almost Mariah stepping into a favorite pair of old shoes she'd forgotten about as far as the live instrumentation being such a presence on so many songs. Maybe that's why the tour was so successful even in terms of her vocals. She kinda recorded those more jazzy songs "live" with a full band, IIRC. Had it been done more intentionally (not that the album didn't come about organically) I believe TEOM wave would have eventually lifted Charmie up as well.

What's good about it is that nobody'd be able to call her acting brand new. This is actually firmly in her wheelhouse since her debut.

It's nothing new-new since Vanishing and The Wind, but definitely underutilized. She did Lullaby of Birdland on the ECT and more recently Nevertheless in Abu Dhabi, she even had that kinda ragtimey intermezzo of Sweetheart with the dancers and the band. I that. More please. But I digress.

I really wanted to talk about how much I regret You Got Me not getting a video or single release. It's not that it's her greatest song but it's the album's #1 earworm. It's a feel-good moment. I'd sometimes rather she'd kept it for a different time than it becoming "filler". It would've been a hit even if another lesser singer released it. I don't understand why Lyor Cohen bypassed it over TTR and MC never references it. Stream of consciousness over.

Butterfly tour (108,080) by Anonymous from United States
Listening to some of the Butterfly tour audio released on the "Mariah Station Concerts" got me to thinking about what would have happened if Mariah had continued the tour in North America. I know she stopped it after the Hawaii date because she wanted to film "Double O Soul" with Chris Tucker. Does anyone know/remember what dates were planned? Were they similar to the ones she eventually committed to in North America for the Rainbow tour?

By the way, Mariah Station Concerts has some great exclusive audio and video from that tour. I think the person who runs it has been buying rare/unreleased footage from engineers who worked on the tour's Australia dates.

My 2025 - hopes, dreams, wishes, and prayers for Mariah Carey (108,079) by Stacey from USA
I've never seen Charmbracelet as something that could have done better, been better. I think the album exactly what was intended. The album provided Mariah with an opportunity to deal with her struggles through the writing of songs. That was her therapy. The promotion of the album allowed MC to explain her side of things and show the world that all she needed was a few hours of sleep, and not believe all the crazy tabloid rumors. That album and subsequent tour (of which I saw her live the last night of said tour), put her voice in great shape to give us TEOM. Is CB my favorite album? No. But I'll always be grateful for the purpose it served in MC's storied career.

For me, Charmbracelet was more of an therapy album, almost like a gospel theme one. Actually, it would be awesome if she would redo a whole album with a more gospel vibe. It has spiritual and anthemic vibe. I play it when I really need calm and spiritual vibe in my life.

Hindsight is 20/20, to be honest, looking back, please don't crucify me for saying this, but I'm glad Charmbracelet didn't do well. Otherwise we may not have had the dominant TEOM and early E=MC2 eras, where Mariah completely ruled the airwaves for 2 years.
