Re: Lil Love (99,438) (99,439)

I've always loved "Lil Love". See, that's what you call a great collabo even when there were four acts on it. I played it so much I thought the mp3 was going to get corrupted, lol. I still listen to it every now and then. I also love "One and Only Part II", but I prefer the version on Twista's album.

How many of you remember this jam? I finally found a copy of Strength and Loyalty at my local 2nd and Charles. Her vocals are not that great in 2007, but the whistles notes are hot.

Re: How Greatest Hits should've played out (99,435) (99,437)

I know. I just wish it all could've been different with a big greatest hits package in 2015 on her 25th anniversary. #1's could've even been a bigger seller if they kept up with that one instead of having GH released three years after #1's.

Robert-Anthony is just being sarcastic. We all know Mariah can't act for shit. Well, bringing her own lighting and keeping her shots in soft focus is not acting.

In her book she said when she renegotiated her deal to leave Sony she was required to give them a greatest hits album. That's why by the time they finally released it after she left she barely promoted it.

Weight loss (99,431)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
Am correct that MC showed major weight loss in 2008 and 2013? I know 2008 was her fittest time since 1990. I think that she used a trainer in 2008 compared to 2013. Her voice was in the best shape since the Charmbracelet era. But GMA performance premature backing track embarrassed MC and the buying public noticed that she was no longer the Voice.

How Greatest Hits should've played out (99,430)
by T from USA

I know that GH became a big seller for Mariah but it also ate away at her catalog sales and #1s album at the time. Instead I wish Sony just updated #1's with the two tracks in 2001. Then Greatest Hits could've come out as a joint project between Sony/Universal in 2015 with a three disc set. 45 songs. Obviously, #1's could have once again been reissued in 2021 (twenty years later) to include AIWFCIY. Leaving the same classic cover in place. That's how I wish it played out.

Re: Forbes fail (99,423) (99,427) (99,429)

But Forbes isn't a chart magazine, so why discuss the song dropping from the charts after the holiday season. Why not discuss all of the lucrative deals and financial power the song has managed to give an artist 30 years into their career. Not everyone has that. The song is an anomaly and has grown bigger than Mariah herself. The fact that each year it gets bigger and bigger should be looked into. Not the obvious chart performance after the season. Do we need an article telling us that? It's just common sense no? Just my thoughts.

Article: The number ones: Mariah Carey's "I'll Be There" (99,428)
by emancipatedlamb from UK
| |
|
|
I think whoever wrote this article is sick in the head. It's one thing to be contradictory of ones own points - that is often the case with people who "comment" (not report, because the "author" of this piece o' something, is not a reporter) on MC articles. But to describe Eric Clapton's tribute to child as a "dead-kid lullaby", tells me that not only are you heartless, but will likely never know what it means to beget a child into this world, because if you did, you would never describe someone's loss in a manner so disrespectfully inhumane.

Christmas Princess (99,425)

The Christmas Princess has been announced now because the worldwide book fairs are held in the first few months of the year, and with/at them, international publishing rights are sold, the book is marketed, scope and demand is gauged.

I'm not concerned with Mariah's voice (99,424)
by Lara from Middle East
| |
|
|
Most people will go and say she lost her voice, she's hiding it between smoke and mirrors. I might agree with that, her voice isn't as powerful as before, but for me it's her tone and huskiness, the fact that when you hear it on the radio you can immediately reconignize it that makes special and I couldn't care less about whistles and belting.
Stromae released new songs after a hiatus of 7 years and that man has no voice but his songs, their lyrics, productions are just genius. It's like Mariah Carey before 2008 but without her voice, which brings me to my concern.
What I am concerned about is her musicality, her layering and ad libs are messy, lyrics not relatable anymore. You can't have a melody from her songs. I want Mariah to have a work similar to Caution where you feel the production is really good but lyrically more deep. Videos that are not focusing on her physical appearance, maybe the bipolar medications are affecting this genius side of hers?

Yes but usually the top three slots are Christmas tunes and the same thing happens to them as well. But no mention of them. Mariah tends to get bashed unfairly with these articles. It's pointless because of course if it's a seasonal song it's going to disappear after the season, it's common sense. Do we really need an article about it. I would think Forbes would be focused on writing an article of the finances this song brings her each year with all of the multiple deals her team sets up surrounding the song's popularity each Christmas.

I think it's mainly because it goes from Number 1 to completely out of the chart, which is more newsworthy than if it was at, say, number 48 or 76 like some of the other Christmas tunes.

Forbes fail (99,420)

Why is Forbes writing about AIWFCIY dropping off the charts after Christmas? That ain't news. The other Christmas tunes do the exact same thing. Useless reporting. I used to love to go to the library and read that magazine when I was a teenager (yes I'm super old) but times have changed if this is what they are writing about.

It is. I can't wait so we all could read it here on the messageboard. Maybe little Mariah comes with outfit changes. If it came with cardboard wigs and weaves, I would die. She should cancel the new album, this news is to die for. A Christmas book on January, Genius! If by any chance Roc and Roe and Mary Ann Tatum's son happen to appear on the book, now that would be so refreshing and new. Wait a minute, if little Mariah is on high heels on the book, the LGBTQ+ community would definitely add MC at the end of their acronym. The way things are looking, soon the whole alphabet will be on it anyway.
