Re: Tanaka and MC (98,703) (98,708) by Slipping Butterfly from United States
To bad your [sic] dead wrong. Tanaka and Mariah are still together. He was right by her side filming the Christmas special the last two weeks. You will see the projects they've been working on soon. Don't be surprised when it comes out that they're married already.

She has said she will never get married again and is not having anymore kids. This was before she got with him so I'm sure he is aware and seems to be happy with their current arrangement.

Yup, I think he's a very happy man. What parents expect is another thing, but he should live his life like he wants. And I believe that's what he exactly does.

Re: Tanaka and MC (98,703) (98,705) by Littal from USA
I think the man is way happier than if he was working a 9-5 to support his wife and kids and their weekly trips to Denny's.

More power to him for having the courage to not just blindly follow pack expectations and live his own life.

I'm glad we see things from a different perspective. You see this is exactly what I love about Mariah and her catalogue, there's something there for everyone - testament to her mass appeal and we all interpret these records and eras differently.

Tanaka and MC (98,703) by Bobby A from United States
I really feel Tanaka and MC are not together anymore. A man who wants to get married and have kids will not stick around regardless of any money. I am really sure he is hearing from mother: "When are you getting married?" "When are you going to give me some grand kids?" On another note, what is up with MC liking Khalid's Instagram and Twitter pages. Stay tuned for Fall In Love At Christmas. Khalid is looking amazing these days compared to 4 years ago.

Jazzy MC (98,702) by Bobby A from United States
I was driving home from work and thought about MC sampling Forget Me Nots by Patrice Rushen. I envisioned a jazzy uptempo number reminisce of Fantasy with horns and a marching band sound. She could pull it off with her gorgeous tone. DJ Camper could co-produce it with the The Dream, Tricky Stewart, and Angela Winbush.

Fun article (98,701) by Tyler from United States
Not sure if anyone has posted about this before, but www.stereogum.com is doing a column called "The Number Ones". The author writes an in-depth article on every number one song of the Hot 100 era. He recently (finally) got to 1990 and Vision of Love and I really enjoyed reading it! Needless to say Mariah will be featured as he says, "so many more times". I look forward to the next 18 write-ups over the next few years as he gets through the 90's and 2000's and eventually to 2019. Check it out.

I was unable to connect to the website for a few days. I thought MCArchives was done. The web browser said "unable to connect to MCArchives". Other browsers failed to connect also. Was the site down or was it something on my end? [Webmaster: There were problems with the root SSL certificate. This has been fixed this morning.]

The only Mariah message board that matters (98,698) by T from USA
Hi all, I just wanted to say I appreciate this board so much and the webmaster for doing an amazing job. I've posted on other boards in the past but none quite have the same love and devotion as Mariah Archives. I will only be exclusively posting and being on this board from here on out. It's our one stop Mariah shop.

Emotions is really "pure gold". Yesterday I needed comfort through music, so I played her debut, "Emotions" and "Music box". The magic of songs like "Vanishing", "Can't let go", "So blessed", "Til the end of time", "The wind", "AYNAF", "All I ever wanted" and "EFA" are unmatched until today.

Wow it's funny that you mention that, I thought the same yesterday as I was listening to "The wind". I always imagine Mariah singing a James Bond song while listening to it.

It's so telling to me that everyone I know who has seen the movie now has Fantasy stuck in their heads lol. And these are not necessarily Mariah fans too.

That's a good point, but "Butterfly" had more crossover appeal than "Candle in the Wind" due to the "Fly Away (Butterfly Reprise)" house mixes and received more airplay than the Elton John song. "Candle in the Wind '97" sold a lot, but I don't remember it being particularly popular on the radio. It only peaked at #32 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart. "Butterfly" went to #14 on that chart based on airplay alone, and peaked at #16 on the Hot 100 Airplay Chart. I think Mariah could have had a shot at #1 even against "Candle in the Wind 97". To this day, I find it very frustrating that "Butterfly" never got an official release. It's one of her signature ballads and really deserved the recognition.

Re: Wish/Could've beens list #1s (98,686) (98,692) by BFF from United States
I respectfully disagree, sir. How can you deny the splendor of the "Emotions" album? It has so much more of Mariah's personality in it than the debut! The debut album just had too many cooks in the kitchen and not enough creative control from Mariah herself. I love "Vision of Love", "Vanishing", "Love Takes Time", "Someday", and even "I Don't Wanna Cry" but almost everything else feels like filler to me.

There's not a single song on "Emotions" I dislike. The only other album I can say that about is "Butterfly".

Should have been a single. Missed opportunity. I can't believe no one has thought of this before now.

Haha. You stay [sic] always trying to make me "lose credibility" like [it's] a published critique, [it's] just an opinion Mr. Bill. There's a category of songs that are fan favorites I personally don't gravitate towards but some others swear by, [it's] just a matter of personality and taste. "To The End of Time" falls in that category reasons best known to me. Heck even Mariah herself doesn't like some of her own songs. Duh. Exactly my point.

The fact Till the End of Time isn't on your list makes you lose any credibility I'm afraid.

Somewhat Loved (98,687) by Terna from Nigeria
This song gets better the more you play it, and her vocals sound so much better than on [Caution], I'm kinda left wondering are they recent vocals since she hinted it was written in 2012 (or was that a different song). It seems she's really working on her sound and I love that.

Re: Wish/Could've beens list #1s (98,679) (98,686) by Terna from Nigeria
"And light years better than the debut album." Um no sir, [we're] not gonna sit here and act like that [debut] album isn't single handedly the biggest debut ever (all caps) for an artist. "Emotions" [pales] in comparison to the debut. Let's just put it this way. The debut album has "Vision of Love" and "Love Takes Time" two mammoth classics, and "Emotions" has "You're so cold". I only ever play four songs from that record:
1. Can't Let Go
2. Make It Happen
3. Emotions
4. The Wind
Take these four out and you have fillers.

Re: Wish/Could've beens list #1s (98,677) (98,685) by Terna from Nigeria
I love your optimism. Haha. "Can't Let Go" for me is the only non number 1 song I feel like should've gone to the top, that song is so hauntingly popular and mysterious like so many people know the song but don't know who sang it. Also "Anytime You Need a Friend".

Re: Wish/Could've beens list #1s (98,679) (98,684) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Candle in the Wind 97' was at #1 around that time. It used to be the best selling single ever. Almost 9M copies sold in US alone. I doubt Butterfly could have gone to #1 at that time.
