Yes, I feel the same way the last 4 or 5 years. That's no music, that's noise. There's no soul and no heart to it. Even a "bad" song from the 60ies, 70ies, 80ies, 90ies until 2003 is way better than what is popular today. The few "newer" singers I like, have all in common that they have retro vibes (real instruments, can actually sing lol) on their music. With the movies it's the same, the older ones are better, but here and there a new one is also enjoyable and pretty good. Something I just can't say about today's music.
I'm going to watch the "Music Box concert" again. Time machine lol. Mariah at minute 54, so cool playing air drums.

Yes agree. Abba may single handedly save 2021. I had a lump in my throat when I listened to their two new songs. I can't recall the last time I heard new music that had compositional structure and intelligence, tuneful and familiar/nostalgic melodies, interesting and poignant lyrics, and delivered with integrity and grace.
Their music is a testament to their talent, and has only highlighted what the artists of this time lack, with hardly an original thought between them all. A band like Abba have appeared after a 40 year hiatus and blown them all out of the water.
Best start saving now for their concert next year.

Popular music right now is just lacking on the radio. There are really not any great songs out right now. I am tired of hear Olivia played every hour. I am hearing the same song reworked as a remix or the producer gave the same beat to a fledging new artist. I really fear this fall is going to be my a wash if we don't get new albums from Adele, Rihanna or Ed Sheeran. Maybe there a surprises that I don't know about.

Yes, yes, yes. The way she sings "All in Your mind". I can't believe, it's so good. Then the powerful version of the Dreamlover remix and "Just be good to me". It gives so much joy to watch her. Mariah was rocking that night with all her heart.

That setlist is everything. I'm so "freaking out" about "Vanishing" live. It's out of this world. The power, softness and soul, only Mariah. What a concert, I'm so happy that I can now watch it over and over again.

Why concert in NYC 1993 was the best (98,579)
by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway

There is nothing much to say. Has there really been a moment in Mariah's career that a concert has been released without it being dubbed?
Mariah's Music Box Tour concert at MSG in 1993 is the only example we've got of a whole concert of Mariah not being dubbed, it's just Mariah and her voice, and personally, I have never heard her better, or seen a human being belting out that many difficult songs back to back with perfect pitch for one and a half hour.
That concert is what I'm going to refer to if anybody else in my future life ever questions Mariah's talent.

Um, yes. To all of this. I've imagined this before, but as a stage show. In album form would be next level. And maybe with some guests on certain songs and some new covers. Playful and fun like Lullaby of Birdland from The Rarities, but fresh and sleek like WBT MLNVM. I'm so here for this Bill.

I always thought this was one of her most engaging and creative vocal performances ever, the way the song just builds steadily and climaxes. She really begun exploring new ways of singing songs in the late 90's and early 2000s that had a "wow" effect like the verse she sang on the "Make it last" remix of "Thank God I found You" and the live version of "O Holy Night" - very unexpected and unpredictable. By "The Emancipation of Mimi", she's an expert with this style of singing which we hear on songs like "Mine Again", "We Belong Together", "Joy Ride" and "Circles".

I still don't understand the whole Marilyn obsession. Maybe as a child, but not as an adult. [censored] Mariah should be a huge fan of Blowpez, if that's the case. Sorry, just my drunkey thoughts.

What is so peculiar about the way MC is singing this classic ballad? I want to say that she is singing underneath the notes. But I know that is not the way to describe it. It is very different from the way she sung Butterfly. I love to hear your responses. Just something to think about on this holiday weekend.

I like your idea Billy. You may be on to something. She did say she was working on multiple projects on Twitter Spaces. I really feel she is going to mess with our wallets again this October. I am excited for the big announcement coming soon. I just want Glitter and The Remixes on vinyl too.

Rather than an entire new album, what could work is "re-imaginings" of her songs, like the WBT Late Night version. An album of her re-doing some of her tracks in a more free, spontaneous, jazz-esque manner could be great. Especially some of the really old material she may not be that happy with in hindsight. Imagine turning a song like Heartbreaker into a sultry slow jam ballad or removing all the production from Alone In Love?

I think she'll release some music, but not a full album at this point and so close to Christmas. I like the fact she's not rushing it, so there's not excuse for a 10-track album or anything lackluster. I would prefer if she releases MC16 next year. The fact she hasn't been touring or been pressured by her label tells me she's crafting a very decent album, with remixes and all. She's had nearly two year, in which she hasn't had any major distractions other than eating sushi.

As a young music consumer in the 90's I, like legions of fans, had to hear Mariah sing everything and anything. So when re-recorded remixes were released, live performances were VHS'd, I collected and collected. I probably own 250+ Mariah releases on CD/vinyl. Thirty years into her career, the collectable and "Have to Hear" moments aren't as abundant. That's what makes this concert footage so special. Takes me back to a time when her voice was high, powerful and pristine. Normally I won't listen to a whole bootleg concert, but this was irresistible.

It really hurts now to hear her say that her mom is there. It was just to introduce the story we all already know. Patricia singing her that song, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out it was a one time moment. At least she complimented the see you next Tuesday
