Re: Defamation (97,641) (97,642) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
"Andrew, thank you for validating my opinion that you are largely ignorant as to US Law and the relevant cases."

You're welcome. However, you had that opinion beforehand and now I have validated it? I'm touched you think of me so often and so fondly.

"It takes a big person to admit they do not know what they speak of."

It takes a small one to capitalise on a lack of knowledge to which somebody else has already admitted and for which they have asked for assistance. I don't Google law. I could do; I could have done. But I did do a law degree. Yet, do you and take what you need, darling.

Also, don't end a sentence on a preposition if you're intentionally acting like an [censored]. Makes it kinda difficult to pull off your inferred superiority in the realm of law and letters.

"It is not my job to educate you in all the ways this, in my opinion, was clear in many of your statement before you admitted it, but rest assured in my opinion your stated "knowledge" of the proofs and, importantly, the burdens, gave away the game."

To reiterate, if you're going to act like the Grandmaster [censored], do use the correct syntax and do also make sure that your sentences even make sense, lol. Again, take what you need and run with it. The easy wins are fun.

"Let's give you a chance to redeem yourself."

I am certain my intellect is not in need of redemption.

"I give you credit for admitting your ignorance of US law."

Well, having admitted I didn't study it, I am exactly where I was before. You, on the other hand, have come off a bit badly here. Not exactly a "win", per se, but take what you need.

Easy wins, eh

Andrew, thank you for validating my opinion that you are largely ignorant as to US Law and the relevant cases. It takes a big person to admit they do not know what they speak of, so bravo for confirming that you merely googled the law, and did not study stateside. It is not my job to educate you in all the ways this, in my opinion, was clear in many of your statement before you admitted it, but rest assured in my opinion your stated "knowledge" of the proofs and, importantly, the burdens, gave away the game.

Let's give you a chance to redeem yourself. Do you think either ex-sibling will win their case? Do you think either will make it past MTD or SJ? Are you aware of the different burdens for a public figure plaintiff (and yes, due to their various interviews, both tv and magazines, a court would likely find both to be public figures)?

I'll end where I started - I give you credit for admitting your ignorance of US law.

Love your list enwar, although I would add Rainbow there as well. And yes, she was such a stunner during #1's. That super short scene of her in a blue dress walking on the street in the beginning of Sweetheart is so elusive and captivating.

I feel MC's team is lurking here and readings these posts, and purposely not doing what we think may help for her (maybe because of pride, thinking "Well if these plebes thought it, these are beneath her to try"). So, maybe we should say things the opposite of what we want or wish for her to do? Example: Mariah: 1. Continue with the bubbly, it's doing wonders for your voice. 2. Don't watch your lifestyle, you can always wear the tightest spanx to keep you looking fit, 3. The lyrical devolution to childish quips totally make for timeless music. Keep it up. 4. Your eyes are barely recognizable, and we don't miss your gorgeous almond eyes. More and more please. 5. Your choice of rappers lately has been great. The "I know you love me, you just don't trust me, you don't understand me... but you love it when I call you Ms. Carey" rap part is totally not cringe-y at all. Keep it up. More of this please. 5. We like that you don't make music with melody anymore. Lols - this fan has a lot of pent up feelings inside, hahahahahaha.

I just want MC to work with Jazmine Sullivan, H.E.R., Tiara Thomas, Victoria Monet, Bruno Mars, Beyonce, Ledisi, Drake, Ella Mai, Maxwell, Ne-Yo, and Toni Braxton. She always collaborates with artists and songwriters who are hot on the charts.

Top 5 music video eras (97,634) by enwar00 from usa
1. Butterfly
I mean, no competition. Mariah finally stepped up her music video game and it paid off. Each video was different than the other and they're all my favorites. Honey - sexy and fun, Butterfly - artsy, Breakdown - sleek and colorful, The Roof - sophisticated, My All - classy.

2. The Emancipation of Mimi
Stepped it up again and it showed. Right off the bat It's Like That showed this era was going to be something else, something big and exciting. Love the 2-part concept. Shake It Off still makes me laugh. The dark colors in DFAU. Love them all.

3. Caution
Can't help but feel these videos were slept on. I do think in time more people will discover and appreciate them as well as the album. Love the deep, rich colors in GTFO. Video fits the slinky song perfectly. With You is classy and beautiful, again fits the song perfectly. Love the blue and pink colors in A No No that represented the Caution era and love the super matte look of the video. I can totally picture this being a video album where all songs had cool videos. Sigh.

4. Emotions
Despite everything above, 30 years later ( ) I may go on record saying this song and video are my faves from Mimi. I just love the young, fun, simple, carefree, effervescent vibe of both, the different color tints of the video, and seeing people having fun together... what a concept. Maybe art was imitating life and this was before the drama started. Can't Let Go is another perfect match of song and video, so young but so elegant and classy. This era truly feels underrated yet there's something special about it and about the early 90s in general. Maybe being eternally 12 truly is a thing.

5. #1's/ MIAMTEC
Was she a stunner during #1's or what. During those scenes with the pony in I Still Believe, she just exudes so much beauty. You can tell she was happy. And she was showing off the killer bod in Sweetheart. Also Pure Imagination is so random but cute.

Can't seem to have a top 5 or top 10 list on this board without a hyphen, tie or honorable mentions so just for laughs, MIAMTEC. Solely because of You're Mine (Eternal). This song is so dreamy and the video makes it even more so. Love the rainforest and her gold dust glitter nymph look, she looks great and her hair is awesome. Still surprised it got so much hate. This is another one I think will age well.

Lordy me, even if you agree with her racist remarks, don't say it was "well said". Call a spade a spade: it was the prosaic equivalent of polishing a turd.

"'White' people, however, are a pan-European gang who have invaded parts of the world where they do not belong and have engaged in damaging relationships with other human beings and the environment. 'White' does not deserve respect."

You can dress up your racism in pseudo-intellectual nonsense all you like - you're just disgusting. I laughed at you for a short while. But actually you just made me feel terribly, terribly sad for you, sweetheart.

I also concur that Mariah isn't racist and agree with everything you've said however the last paragraph is confusing to me. I'm at a lost if I'm being honest with what's been said, it's hard to digest.

I'm also at a loss that if Mariah is indeed racist, why do people still continue to support her, especially going to such lengths like checking a fan site. People are liking posts that refer to Mariah being racist/not liking white yet have not responded to the question. The repetitive saga continues.

Hi TJ, I'm very tired too. The highlight of the week is shopping at the supermarket and walking in the woods. I miss the normal life before covid so much. The case numbers are rising up again, it's just depressing. But luckily I'm well (but the nerves are down). I hope you are well too and of course all the other MCA members who have a hard time.

Stop defending "white" identity (97,626) by Geronimo from USA
The idea that Mariah Carey is racist is absurd on his face. The idea that Mariah Carey panders to a concept of "black nationalism" with a date range next to it is the rhetoric of racists. The suggestion that she pretends to oppose racial justice as a marketing technique is also a racist thing to say. And that type of racism is plentiful on this board.

Mariah Carey is a black woman mixed ancestry. Advocating for justice for her people is a duty to her ancestors and her children. Pointing out her mother's participation in the forms of racism available to people when they want to be petty and use power acknowledges what many Black people and others of mixed ancestry have experienced in their families.

A person of European ancestry who finds what Mariah Carey says about her family experience to be offensive should ask themselves what cultural blindness and defensiveness makes you doubt something that is an obvious fact of social and family relationships for millions of people.

Finally, Mariah Carey and African-Americans more generally, do not need to "like" white people. Any person who dislikes a group of people because they are of European ancestry is a person who has a problem. "White" people, however, are a pan-European gang who have invaded parts of the world where they do not belong and have engaged in damaging relationships with other human beings and the environment. "White" does not deserve respect. The difference between "white people" and people of European ancestry is precisely the difference between those who have invented race and racism (then criticize people who struggle against it however they need to struggle) and those people of European ancestry to whom race and racism has been attached according to social and cultural activities. Only a racist more clever than intelligent would pretend in public that this distinction is not important.

When you say that "white girl who can sing" has the same implied meaning as "white girl who sings black", you mean that only black girls can sing.

The implied meaning of George's statement remains the same even if I misquoted him slightly. "White girl who can sing" has the same implied meaning as "white girl who sings black". If you deny this, you're being willfully obtuse.

And if I recall correctly, Joe Biden and Donald Trump were not the only two choices on the ballot. Other choices were available. People just chose to see it as a binary choice.

Re: Defamation (97,620) (97,621) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
You'd be right if you were specifying that my law degree is in English and Welsh Law. But the United States Law is common law and I did read some of it. In any case defamation is a pretty simple concept: a false and/or malicious statement designed to bring damage to someone's reputation through either written or verbal communication (thus, libel or slander). Having read Law for many years, I am pretty careful with what I write.

I am interested to hear which part of defamation as pertaining to the United States I do not understand. I do treat most people as persons who have something to teach me. With exceptions made for obvious foolish here. So go for it.

It is interesting that those that libel me won't give me their details to allow my solicitor to argue it with them in court. Foolish people should think before they type.
