Mariah McDonald's (98,907) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway I honestly thought it was a joke. Mariah's net worth has decreased with 200 million dollars the last few years, and she isn't exactly selling loads of concert tickets while on tour, only pushing a few thousands a show, so I can understand she needs to be creative when it comes to her income. But, why couldn't Mariah promote a bit more healthy life style or a bit more classy endorsments? She has promoted coockies, sweat and creamy alcohol beverage, and now fast food. We all know that Mariah is living on the unhealthy side of the spectrum, beeing a bit overweight and drinking sparkling wine whenever she can, but is this really a life style she should push on other people? I just feel promoting a deal for McDonald's is a tad tacky, and not a brand I want to associate with Mariah Carey. Anyways, Christmas is always a special time, and Mariah has been a huge part of Christmas for me the last couple of decades. I just wished Mariah would keep it classy. Re: Mariah - new label (98,900) (98,906) by Mara from United States While the thoughts of a possible gospel album in the works does excite me, I can't help but feel that I wish it were done during the time her voice was more "full". Preferably when Big Jim was still with us. Something during the ATYNAF or JTTW recordings would have been an amazing gospel sounding album or even during the time of FLAB. Maybe the choir in the back is what she is going for now but I honestly wish it were a jazz album at this point or at least a mix. Her voice is like velvet and absolutely perfect for jazz and actually always was. The was she freestyles jazz is unlike any other artist out. Not to mention she could really rock that retro 1940's classic look so well. But who knows, I don't want to jump the gun but still wishing for that jazz album over here. Fall In Love At Christmas (98,905) by Mirage_Nunez from America Okay so I sat with the song for a few days and I have to say: I think it's a cute pleasant little addition to the Christmas playlist. I'll have it placed between "Born Is the King/The First Noel" and (the original version of) "When Christmas Comes". Like someone spoke to it's no "Miss You Most (At Christmas Time)", but it's definitely a much better listen than "The Star" and "Little Snowman". So I'm not mad at it. Oh and I'm definitely ready for a gospel/inspirational album, maybe with a couple of "Vision of Love" esque ballads that are open to interpretation, and a few introspective cuts. Even if it was 50% new songs and 50% existing songs I'd be happy (My Saving Grace, Fly Like a Bird, I Wish You Well, Heavenly). Imagine if she re-worked Sent from Up Above WBT Valentine's style. I look forward to a Gospel album, it isn't a step into new territory as she's written many Gospel songs before but a whole album dedicated to the Most High, I would really love. Lol. Something sounds mighty promising with both RCA and RCA Inspiration backing the MARIAH imprint. I think a gospel album is on its way. Mariah - new label (98,892) by 123 from USA So according to the New York Post Mariah is releasing music on her own imprint "MARIAH" in partnership with RCA records. So her deal with Epic must be over. Seems like a smart move so far. She was able to get to collab with Khalid, a big artist on RCA and Kirk Franklin who is signed to RCA Inspiration. Toni's song is straight up one of the most beautiful songs that incorporates that guitar sound, a personal favorite of mine and a satisfying (keyword) experience to listen to all round, melodically, lead vocally, song structure wise, background vocals etc. The difference here is while Toni's song is everything, Mariah's on the other hand leaves a lot (all caps) to be desired. Re: Babyface (98,886) (98,889) by Bill from the UK I do love their four outings together. Never Forget You, Melt Away, Every Time I Close My Eyes and When You Believe are all gorgeous songs. My only issue with Babyface is that his production is a bit "samey". It is worth noting though that Mariah self-produced Melt Away so it doesn't seem as though he was involved in it enough to be considered controlling. (Monday 8 November 2021; 19:21)

The first part is a missed opportunity to showcase Khalid's vocals, which is obscured by auto tune or something. The second song actually is a little earworm. But it's just a strange combination. If she'd just let someone construct her some great songs, or just sing some of the great American songbook tunes, she'd be better off at this stage of her voice. (Monday 8 November 2021; 19:19)

Re: Babyface (98,877) (98,886) by T from USA I wonder too. Especially since he was instrumental in the Whitney duet. As well as respected by many of Mariah's favorites. The only conclusion I can think of is Mariah is very controlling in her work and I've heard Babyface takes a strong reigns when he's in the studio (much like the Neptunes) so it's easier for him to work with artists like Toni Braxton who needs the heavy handed guidance. FILAC (98,883) by Anonymous from UK A weekend into the song, and I like it. It shoulda been relegated to the Rarities 2, maybe, or deep into an album as a non Christmas song, but objectively, as a track, I like it overall. Mariah's falsetto sounds gorgeous to me, the melody and layering are stunning, particularly on her verse, and the choir is great. The downsides for me are the production, Khalid (What's the point of his contribution? Her worst collabo to date, 100%) and Kirk himself giving us his bit at the end, but I'm not even mad at that, that's what he does. Saying that, I don't really get the point of Kirk overall. What does he do but direct? I also don't like this non falsetto voice she's singing in. Not to open a massive vocals debate, but it sounds throaty and metallic to me, as if she's singing from her head, with strain, and then auto tuned on top? I don't know, but it's not as pleasant as she sounded last year doing lockdown stuff, so I presume it's an over laid effect. But, despite my grumbles, I enjoy it a lot more than a snowman or the star, and, as has been picked up by lambs, it's very late after tonight, and I've had moments of being taken back to the feeling of buying Rainbow upon release, so I'm grateful for a new decent track, these small blessings and nostalgic moments.
