New music from Mariah is all we need to lighten up this freakishly bizare and horrible year. Don't cry wolf yet just because it is a collab with JD.

The Rarities is #1 (95,006)
by enwar00 from usa

The Rarities is the #1 best-selling CD and vinyl on Amazon at the moment. That's just wild to me, especially considering it's not out for another month and a half. What's more is that the vinyl of the debut Mariah Carey album, also released on October 2nd, is at #8. The promo must really be working to get people this interested.

That's what I was thinking too, something prominent about how they used the sample.

Mariah on GMA (95,004)
by ADAM from USA

I am in utter ans complete shock. Cannot believe how great she performed. Her voice was in perfect form - warm, full, round - and in record condition. Her breathes were natural and her voice not nasal. I will say it's in her top 5 performances ever. Maybe it's just me, but I felt her love and emotion and gratitude in every note and inflection. This was her most genuine performance to date. It really comes across she loves her fans, and perhaps her fans saved her. So proud and happy to have witnessed this incredible moment. I'm so glad she's around to take in all the love.

Panties Perpetually In A Bunch (95,003)
by John from USA
| |
|
|
No other person on here seems to be upset about everything and have all the time in the world to pick fights than Andrew. Seems having arguments here is what makes him feel alive and find meaning in his sad existence.
I hope someone should gather all of Andrew's comments on here and make a compilation of sorts. It should be entitled...
"Panties Perpetually In A Bunch": A compilation of comments on mcarchives.com from none other than Andrew, a.k.a. UK's Male Karen.

So... a Mariah Carey song with JD squeaking "you know who this is" and Lauryn Hill saying "one time, one time"? I kid, I kid. Looking forward to hearing it.

European release? (94,996)

15 dollars turned into 65 when shipping and taxes was added. That's too expensive. I hope it will be released in Europe too.

The Honest Vocal Coach GMA vid (94,995)
by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa

Yessss. I love The Honest Vocal Coach I've been watching her forever. Her name is fitting, because she is always honest. Watching her cover the GMA performances was so fun. Gave me chills all over again. So great to see others that can appreciate how her voice has aged. Check it out here.

My previous post was solely on her interview. I loved her energy and even vulnerability in it.
I hadn't seen the performance yet when I posted that. I loved the performance as well. It was beautiful, I loved the piano, and it seems like she is singing into the song, not singing outwardly trying to show the world something. She loves her catalogue and it shows. She so deserves this moment

Lauryn Hill (94,993)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

|

The song Save The Day will only feature Lauryn Hill’s vocals using the hook to the Fugees classic remake of Killing Me Softly. So if anyone was expecting anything else sorry for the disappointment. For me I am anxious to hear the full song before I reserve my full judgement.

rar·i·ty /ˈrerədē/ noun the state or quality of being rare. Similar: uncommonness singularity uniqueness scarcity scarceness sparseness
So, as I stated, it's a quality. Unreleased tracks are not individually uncommon or, perhaps, not in abundance. This definition does not, or prima facie, seem to apply.
noun a rare thing, especially one having particular value. plural noun: rarities Similar: collector's item
Collectors items? They're not that either.
The title is stupid. It has reached the point where Mariah has too many questionable titles.
I like "Chrysalis" a lot. But Jade just suggested "The Vault" and I think that wins hands down.
Tokyo Dome being a "rarity"? We are playing fast and loose with facts and the English language, here.

Re: The Rarities (94,972) (94,990)

If the new album does indeed feature the demos either before being signed or the demo songs recorded for the first iteration of the debut album, then a more fitting title would have been "Chrysalis", for the whole pre-Butterfly theme.
But saying that, it goes with the theme of other compilations: The Ballads, The Remixes, The Rarities.
Going from the GMA interview the album will be a good accompaniment to the book. Also I must say her performance of Close My Eyes was beautiful, and I loved how she changed up Vision of Love during the instrumental break.

That's interesting. When I look up the word, this is the first thing that pops up, from Oxford Languages dictionary: rar·i·ty /ˈrerədē/ noun the state or quality of being rare. Similar: uncommonness singularity uniqueness scarcity scarceness sparseness a rare thing, especially one having particular value. plural noun: rarities Similar: collector's item Seems very fitting to me.

Rarities / GMA (94,988)
by Terna from Nigeria

It's such an exciting time to be a Mariah Carey fan right now. This new compilation "The Rarities" is just what the Lambily and the rest of the world needs right now. I followed the link to Amazon music and there [are] so many tracks. Such a treat Watching her perform "Vision of Love" a song she's sung a million times and still inject new life into its interpretation was a breath of fresh air.

Yeah I don't care for Lauryn Hill. Not so much the music, but because her music reminds me of a time in my life, people I'd like to forget. But I guess I have to make an exception, lol.

Where in the world is Mariah Carey (94,985)
by Brad from USA

Do we know where Mariah is living lately? Recent pics/videos don't seem to be her Manhattan home. I was thinking maybe she bought or is renting a home upstate? (The one on Instagram a few weeks ago where she had the sunflower in her hair.) Was just curious. Thanks.

GMA performance (94,984)
by Andrew from the United Kingdom

Ugh. Some truth bombs:
1. Badly lipped 2. Overly engineered 3. Nasal/scratched vocals 4. Shoulder shrugging 5. Terrible hair 6. Overweight 7. Weird positioning for the "good side"
This was tragic.

Save the Day (94,983)
by Brad from USA
| |
|
|
Looking forward to finally hearing this song on Friday. It seems like The Rarities album is almost a double album with the undisclosed tracks and live performance tracks of known/hit songs? She seemed good today on GMA, though the songs were previously recorded (clearly) it was nice to have her perform a song like Close My Eyes for a broader audience. Be safe and well.
