Re: Portrait (87,475) (87,490) by Susana from USA
And if you want all the feels in the video get Michele Kwan to skate to it. Even though she retired years ago, she still skates and would give all of the emotion needed for a song like this.

Re: R. Kelly (87,487) (87,489) by Licia from USA
Well R. Kelly has been trash for years. When the Aaliyah marriage took place I was the same age as her. I didn't believe that they actually got married and because I was young I didn't care. It wasn't until the video of him and the young girl came out that I stopped buying his music and once he put that gospel CD out that same year trying to act as if he was godly really sealed the deal for me. I'm not going to lie and say I'm going to stop listening to the music I already have from him because I love his music. It sucks that he's such a trash ass person. A lot of people still worked with him despite the tape because they probably didn't think the situation was as bad as it is so I don't hold anything against any of the other artists. If they work with him now is when I'll see them differently. Not only does he deserve jail, those trash ass parents and adults in his team need time too. They all knew what was going on.

Re: R Kelly (87,488) by Dove from United States
There are plenty of talented people who aren't abusers. I choose to support them. I Believe I Can Fly was a part of my childhood but I'm going to scrub it from my brain. I worked for child protective services a long time ago and the big thing I learned in my time there is that there are a lot of sick people in the world. Most of the time people don't believe victims. Even the victims' own families a lot of the time. Mariah Carey is not the abuser and as far as we know she wasn't present when the abuse took place. If she was aware I'm sure she wouldn't have worked with him. For me the peeing on an underage girl in a video was enough to disown him but as a celebrity who has had false accusations made against her maybe she believed he wasn't guilty. A lot of times the brain doesn't want to accept something so terrible, uncomfortable, and shocking so we block it. We put our blindfolds on because it makes us feel better to pretend it's not real. Most of the time it is, though, so I believe the victims 100 percent of the time.

Re: R. Kelly (87,486) (87,487) by Sarah from Netherlands
There's a very big difference between MJ and R. Kelly and saying you "separate the man from his music" is just irresponsible. We have known for years about Kelly. People in Chicago have reported for years that he posted up outside of schools to prey on young girls. He forged papers to marry and rape an underage Aaliyah who was never able to talk about the situation later in life (look up Dame Dash's comments). People stood there and allowed this to happen all for another payday. And we, the public, knew this too. A video featuring the man and a 14 year old girl surfaces in 2003 and we're gonna pretend we didn't know and we're gonna keep lining his pockets? I'm so disappointed in humanity. Or the lack thereof.

Re: R. Kelly (87,485) (87,486) by B from USA
I just assumed she sent him Betcha Gon' Know and he just added his vocals to it or that he sent her several vocal tracks and she pieced it together. I'm disturbed by the allegations but I'm going to separate the man from the music like I did when Michael Jackson was accused of child molestation.

Re: R. Kelly (87,481) (87,485) by RibbonB from USA
She worked with him in studio in Betcha Gon Know and to write new music, but their sounds were supposedly not compatible. He jumped on the TMB remix himself, but when Gayle King interviewed Mariah and asked about it, Mariah wanted the song to be officially released. She just ignored Gayle's attempt to get a comment about Kelly or his accusations.

"I wanted to give my fans and everyone a first listen that wasn't so serious. I've had so much fun making this album, and I wanted the first moment to reflect that light-hearted spirit." - Mariah Carey Mariah obviously fought for GTFO to be released first. During her Genius interview she even questioned the decision to release four songs before releasing the album. I'm not blaming anyone for anything. I have no complaints. I'm loving this album and era.

Oh I just read it on the celebrity news. I listened a lot to his music in the 90ies. But if all the things are true (and I can imagine it) he should be banned from the biz. He may be a great musician but as a human he seems to be scum. Just like Kevin Spacey and many others. I hate when people think because the have power and money they can do everything with everyone. And nobody will say something. So I'm a little disappointed Mariah did say nothing against R. Kelly. She has reasons to, but it would be nice if more people who are famous too would speak up.

Re: With You (87,473) (87,482) by B from USA
Mariah has and can replicate her studio vocals live. Her voice is unpredictable but when the stars align she's able to do so.

Re: R. Kelly (87,478) (87,481) by B from USA
He was featured on the remixes of Touch My Body and Betcha Gon' Know. However, I don't think they actually worked together because neither remix features new vocals from Mariah. Let's not forget this was during her copy and paste remix phase, lol.

Dove I love the idea for the video. Plus it would be something Mariah has never done before.

Agree. I have the albums 21 and 25 and I like the songs. But to listen to the whole album can be a bit boring indeed.

She posted a picture of them in what looked like a studio once. I was disappointed in her then for working with him and am now with her silence on the matter. Same with Ratner, Mayweather.

Portrait (87,475) by Dove from United States
The visual for Portrait should be a routine by a ballerina or a figure skater in a dark stage or arena. With a spotlight on the skater or dancer. Something like this. This is just one of the first one that popped up when I serached figure skating routine. It would fit the song better of course.

Re: With You (87,461) (87,473) by Hector from Mexico
Supposedly? It's very obvious that she can't replicate the vocals on her albums when she "sings" live. And the extreme studio trickery is a common practice for her.

Adele (87,472) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
So far in my opinion she has proven herself to be one note which after a while becomes extremely boring. But I will say I do like some of her songs.

I really feel someone from Epic or Roc Nation said no JD tracks this time. JD said that he recorded a bunch of songs for Caution. So why didn't we get at least 2 songs from JD?

R. Kelly (87,470) by Robert-Anthony from United States
It is a shame that this man had his name featured on a Mariah Carey song. I hope that they were never actually in the same studio together.

Re: With You (87,457) (87,469) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I understand what you mean Randy. "It's almost as if her music is getting younger as she gets older." I think of that since the "MOAIA" album. I enjoy the new album but I would enjoy some songs more without the modern f-language and so on. For example I really love the lyrics from "Clown" or "Touch my body" (great humor and funny). I mean normally if you get older you prefer other lyrics than with 16 or 20. But hey we got "Portrait". The lyrics are pure emotional Mariah.

GTFO - instant classic (87,468) by Terna from Nigeria
Honestly, I feel like GTFO is the strongest track on the new album, and should've been the first single. This song just draws you in and it has repeat value, I find it a breath of fresh air every time it comes on unexpectedly. Now that I have listened to "Caution" in its entirety, I can honestly say that "GTFO" is my favorite out of all 10 songs. My top three songs from "Caution" are:
1. GTFO
2. The Distance Feat. Ty Dollar Sign
3. 8th Grade

Re: With You (87,452) (87,467) by Edward from USA
Can you point to me where Mariah stated GTFO should've been the first single? Are we going to start with "The Justification of Mimi", in which everything that supposedly goes wrong is not Mariah's fault as if she doesn't have a say. Now we don't have Stella, JD, Randy, etc. to blame, now it's Epic or maybe Jay-Z or probably Beyonce.

Re: With You (87,462) (87,466) by Edward from USA
Randy, that's when Mariah had confidence in penning a whole song by herself. When she did that, it was evident. I love when Mariah collaborates, but the fewer people involved in writing the lyrics, the more quality and Mariah we get. Those lyrics she wrote in the 90's weren't drilled into her head, she came up with them. I hate when some of these lambs imply that everything pre Butterfly wasn't the real Mariah, as if Tommy or somebody else handed her those lyrics. I hope one day Mariah finds her muse and write the lyrics of a whole album by herself. I also hope she doesn't take another 4 year period to release music. From MIAM to Caution the vocal decline is scary and she's only 49.
