Yes I also had all the remixes as well Jamie. However, there were some vinyl exclusives that are now digital which is great. My vinyl versions were getting very crackly due to the records being so old (and well played), and my digital transfers still had the vinyl pops and clicks present. Whilst I do find the vinyl background noise endearing, it is great to have clean, spotless versions of the C&C Dub, All That & More Mix and Boriqua Tribe Mix, which was always one of my favourites (in terms of club versions, as nothing beats the Soul Convention Remix).

How did I forget that (exclamation mark). I love those extra coos at the beginning. I'm not sure if that counts as a remix or just a remaster/another version from the mastering sessions. It wasn't designated as a remix on the compilation, much the same for the alternative God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman that appeared in the mid-00s (from memory). How Much on The Ballads is also different from the version on Rainbow but, again, not designated as a remix.
I'm not sure how I feel about these. I need to dwell on this for a moment lol. Thank you for appreciating my posts.

Hey Bill, not sure if it counts but there is an edit version of Looking In which is available on the compilation album Playlist. There is an extra humming at the beginning of the song. As a completionist myself I understnad these minute details are important to us. Always appreciate your posts.

I don't buy it for one bit. If any of that was true then there's no way Mariah would still have a close relationship with her mother. If any of it was true I'd maybe put it down to their father. But unfortunately he's not around anymore and the story wouldn't make as much money as it would if it was Patricia who has had a more direct contact with MC over the years. And don't forget Alison went to live with Alfred after they split so would make more sense. But let's not forget that Alison takes mind altering drugs that can cause psychosis, it could be that Alison has come up with all this while out of it. Satanic rituals etc are a little far fetched and only somebody having such issues with drugs would probably come up with such a story.
There's no doubt Alison has her troubles but her early experiences contributing to this are most probably down to her own poor choices as a teen. We don't know the full story but I'd say she got into drugs at an early age due to her parents splitting up which then lead onto the rest of her life choices. And I'd say a lot of both Alison and Morgan's problems these days will ultimately be jealousy. It's happened with other stars, families can be solid but once money becomes involved it can cause huge rifts. Mariah will still be giving them money I'm sure of that, but people get greedy unfortunately.

I've considered that, wouldn't Mariah hate her Mum it that was true. As I said, I'm clueless when it comes to Patrica, and again I'm not saying what Allison is sharing is all entirely true. But, it still doesn't sit right with me. I've worked with many children in the past, and despite the suffering caused by a parent, they've still wanted a relationship with them. Even if Mariah hadn't suffered or witnessed the abuse that Allison claims, it doesn't mean that none of it ever happened. I know I'm generalising, just giving a different perspective. It will be interesting to see if Mariah discusses/challenges it. And I agree, over the years Mariah's siblings have proven to be toxic, aren't toxic people damaged?

I understand what you mean. Alison always seemed like a person who has bad luck in every way. I always thought it was because of the drugs. But if something of the things she is telling is true, wouldn't Mariah hate her mother? I don't know. Pat doesn't look like a religious sect monster. But Mariah's siblings are a true nightmare whatever the reasons are.

I have to thank you Andrew for fighting this cause. I am a HIV positive man and have dealt with this kinda stigma for years and thus prevented me from being upfront and forthcoming with it publicly due to the negative portrayal within media etc. As crazy as 2020 has been with Covid-19, I couldn't help but wonder if the response to HIV would be different if it was as effective as Covid-19 has been with death and also it's majority demographic.

Your knowledge of Mariah is incredible, in particular her back catalogue. Should the day ever come where Mariah fan sites battle it out for the ultimate fan club title, you need to be part of the dream team, with of course Eric leading it.

Allison (94,861)

This may not be of popular opinion but I can't help but feel for Allison, I don't believe everything she's saying is true but I can't completely disregard what she's saying either. She's clearly damaged and if she did in fact experience abuse as a child, it's understandable to a degree the direction in which her life took. Addiction and prostitution is enough to contend with let alone being abused as a child. I know people have to take responsibility to improve themselves and I'm aware that Mariah tried to help her and got burnt too. But, I still can't help but feel for her. Her methods in how she's pursuing justice is questionable, however I for one wouldn't want to walk in Allison's shoes, I can't even begin to imagine the abuse and danger she put herself through whilst prostituting. It's all very sad.
As for Mariah's Mum, I'm at a loss. I think Mariah's relationships with her parents have been fragile at different stages throughout her life, for what reasons I do not know. The lyrics to "Make It Happen" are poignant, she felt abandoned and alone, so very young and so afraid. I understand that she had dreams to make it but she also seemed quite desperate to get away. Surely the song isn't just about making it happen, overcoming adversity, believing in God etc. One of her greatest abilities is song writing, and from a young age she's been able to vocalise and describe pain so hard-hitting and very eloquently. I think when it comes to her pain, there's more to it then racism and the breakdown of her parents relationship. Mariah was very good at playing down the severity of her mental health issues in the early 2000's, only to share nearly two decades later that she has bipolar. I get that Mariah wanted to protect her career and improve her reputation at the time but again, I can't dispel the notion that there is some truth to Allison's admissions.
When I was younger, the former fan version of me would have instantly defended Patrica and felt sorry for Mariah, tearing strips off Allison, not this time. Something seems off.
On the flip side I'm quite an emphatic person but I could also be going soft in my old age.

Merry Christmas / Daydream remix EPs (94,860)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
So, on the off chance Mariah her very self read my remix post and used it as inspo, here's the remix breakdown for Merry Christmas and Daydream. I hope Merry Christmas doesn't get overlooked as it's, you know, not Christmas.
All I Want for Christmas Is You: 1. So So Def Remix 2. Extra Festive 3. Super Festive 4. Mariah's New Dance Mix 5. Mariah's New Dance Mix Edit 6. Mariah's New Dance Mix Extended
Joy to the World: 1. Celebration Mix Edit (aka Radio Club Mix) 2. Celebration Mix 3. Flava Mix 4. Crash Dub Crash 5. Club Mix
Miss You Most (At Christmas Time) 1. Radio Version
Fantasy: 1. Radio Mix 2. Bad Boy Fantasy 3. Bad Boy with ODB 4. Bad Boy Mix 5. Def Club Mix 6. Def Drums Mix 7. MC Mix 8. Puffy's Mix* 9. Puffy's Club Mix 10. The Boss Mix 11. Sweet Dub Mix 12. Daydream Interlude (Fantasy Sweet Dub Mix)
*Many believe this mix to be identical to Bad Boy with ODB, but there is a difference. Albeit very small. The "jump jump" line in the rap has an echo on one version and not the other.
One Sweet Day: 1. A Cappella 2. Sweet A Cappella 3. Chucky's Remix
Always Be My Baby: 1. Mr. Dupri No Rap Radio Mix 2. Mr. Dupri Extended Mix 3. Mr. Dupri Mix 4. Reggae Soul Mix 5. Reggae Soul Dub Mix 6. Reggae Soul Acapella 7. Def Classic Radio Mix 8. Always Club 9. Groove A Pella 10. Dub-A-Baby 11. ST Dub
Underneath the Stars: 1. Drifting Remix 2. Drifting Remix w/o Rap
This website's discography has a promo with a UK Radio Mix, UK Dance Mix and UK Live Mix. I am uncertain how authentic this is. However, these are actually the Album Version, Drifting Remix and MSG live performance respectively.
As always let me know if I have missed anything please.

I have every faith in Mariah that she'll deliver. Her original teaser post indicated live performances, remixes, and B sides. So far, we haven't seen a B side (I don't count Don't Play That Song), so here's hoping that Do You Think of Me, Slipping Away, this mystery Can You Hear Me I won't shut up about, and others find their way onto a B Sides EP.

Just watched them. They're cute I guess. It's fun to see Mariah so young and bopping around and wearing trendy 90s fashion. That show with the backing tracks though. And what are the odds that Georgina The Honest Vocal Coach is the first comment on the Dreamlover video, since she just got brought up today.

Ok I'm usually not one to complain about what she's serving us right now with MC30, especially because I can't wait until all those AYNAF remixes are streaming since I haven't even heard them all, but I'mma have to agree with you. There best be some b-sides coming soon. We need Do You Think Of Me on streaming platforms. Bring on the unreleased tracks like the one from Emotions Bill won't stop talking about. Is she saving the best treats for last? Should we hold on to hope? Or are we going to get treated. And not in a good way.

For the record I don't detest any Mariah song. I'd sooner listen to a "bad" Mariah track over anything by any other artist. That's why she's my favourite. It's just when it's stacked up against Vision of Love, Always Be My Baby, Migrate (should have been a single), The Roof, Anytime You Need a Friend, Dreamlover, Emotions, All I Want for Christmas Is You, Languishing, Make It Happen, Vanishing, Can't Let Go, Fantasy, My All, Crybaby, We Belong Together, Lead the Way, Underneath the Stars, And You Don't Remember, All In Your Mind, Never Forget You, Honey, You're So Cold, Butterfly, Never Too Far, Miss You Most At Christmas Time, Breakdown, Slipping Away, Heartbreaker, Through the Rain, Shake It Off, Touch My Body, Ribbon, Don't Forget About Us and Melt Away, Triumphant doesn't hold a candle.

Re: The Irish Times and HIV (94,846) (94,848)
by Andrew from the United Kingdom

I am pleased someone is perturbed. It's a UK Sun article. For shits and giggles, here is my complaint:
The article, concerning Allison Carey, sister of the American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, contains the following quote as part of a section relating negatives about Allison Carey's personal situation:
"Alison, who is estranged from her superstar sister, 50, once worked as a prostitute and is HIV positive."
The Editor's Code of Conduct states:
12. Discrimination i) The press must avoid prejudicial or pejorative reference to an individual's... physical or mental illness or disability.
Allison Carey's HIV status is a matter of public record. However, its inclusion in the article is prejudicial, designed to portray the subject in a negative way. The clear inference is that living within HIV is a negative and shameful thing, relating it to bad character. There is no evidence that the subject's HIV status is linked to, or a direct result of, prostitution. The article is suggestive in linking the two - with negative intent.
HIV is a physical illness. This article is therefore prejudicial to persons living with the illness and is, thus, in breach of Section 12.i) of the Code.
The Editor's Code if Conduct also states:
12. Discrimination ii) Details of an individual's race... physical or mental illness or disability must be avoided unless genuinely relevant to the story.
The article concerns the subject's legal action against her mother for alleged child abuse. The inclusion of a subject's illness should only be included where directly relevant to the subject matter of the article.
The subject's HIV status is not relevant to the story and is, thus, in breach of Section 12.ii) of the Code.
The consequences of this type of prejudicial and irrelevant commentary are the perpetuatation of stigma and the incitement of fear of, and hatred towards, persons living with HIV, which often leads to physical and/or verbal abuse. It can also be detrimental to mental health resulting in depression, self harm and suicide. This article has caused me offense and distress.
