Blood Orange / Insecure (94,296)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
Last Sunday's episode of Insecure closed with a cool retro sounding Blood Orange song, Out of Her League, I think it's titled. Such a nice little bop. I so want to hear a Mariah song featured on that show.

Lots of delulu's edit Wikipedia though tbf. I bet Mimi skips over all of it in her much ballyhooed forthcoming memoirs.

Disclaimer- I'm not the most articulate on here nor do I consider myself to be political. I speak from the heart.
I hear you Andy, it's a disgrace that riots resort to looting, however targeting black people and killing them has to stop. Theirs rioting and then theirs looting. To me, what's worse is that the spotlight seems to shine brighter on the looting, rather then the real issue, that people are still being murdered everyday due to the colour of their skin. To top it off, injustice is the usual outcome. Call me wrong but if my husband, dad, or grandad for example were murdered due to the colour of their skin, and justice wasn't served, I would expect/want an uproar, especially when cries for change have gone unheard, time and time again. I'm not saying this is the case right now, although I really hope it is, but when Dr Martin Luther King was murdered, 110 cities in America started rioting, causing $47M in damage. On the 6th day of the riots, the Civil Rights Act 1968 was passed. As I touched on earlier, I don't agree with looting but sometimes it's the last resort due to the build up of sheer anger and frustration. It's a shame that buildings can have have greater worth and respect then a black mans life. Burning buildings are a concern to me yes, but human life is more. I guess for some people, they are outright opportunists, again I don't agree with this. But, some people have the view that why should they care for the law when the law doesn't care for them.
People shouldn't have to live in fear of losing life due to skin tone. For black men especially, this can be a daily occurrence, particularly when the police are concerned.
George Floyd did not deserve to go the way that he did, nor did the countless brothers before him, especially by people who are suppose to serve and protect.
I can't believe that in 2020, one of my biggest fears for my unborn child, is how they could be treated due to the colour of their skin.
Please don't get me wrong, I don't condone any form of mistreatment or inequalities of others, and yes all lives matters. But right now, black lives matters, the injustice and unfair treatment is blatant and is too hard to ignore, nor can we kid ourselves that it isn't that bad, it really is.
PS I wanted to share my thoughts with everyone, not just you so please don’t think I’m singling you out. That was not my intention

You two are ridiculous. When the person who has been cheated on is a "so called criminal", the cheater is justified. And besides, there's no evidence Mariah broke her rule of having only slept with five men or less. So, it's technically not cheating. I found that in Wikipedia too.

Perhaps it could be renamed "What More Can I Loot?" in honour of all those people and communities who have shown their true colours by using a tragedy to steal and generally act lawlessly under a banner of supposed protest.

Caution was definitely a step in the right direction. She desperately needed to work with new collaborators (writers and producers), and I hope she continues to work with new collaborators on her next album. I also still listen to Caution daily.

Oh wow. I've been sleeping all day from working last night. I had no idea about the 1pm curfew. I need to check and see what it is for Houston.
I started not to even click on it, but I'm glad I did though. Anything else she has to say will fall on blind eyes because I won't see it. I'm going back to passing her name up. Lol.

Ladies, your conversation is so funny. We all are just overloaded with what a mess 2020 has been. It doesn't even feel like summer is coming in 3 weeks. But before you say it, I will say it for you. Be quiet Robert-Anthony. Nobody asked for your opinion. Lol.

I didn't have time for a thorough reading, but thank God you had some time. Girl I'm too concerned about murder hornets, covid monkeys and Trump the Nazi, to be arguing about Mimi 's bad acts and bad judgement and the end results. Maybe after the unrest dies down a little I can care about nonsense. They have 1pm curfews in LA.

Well Nikki I actually didn't respond to you. I responded Ribbon. That's who I was having a conversation with. The reason I didn't read your 2 paragraphs is because I knew what you wrote was a story straight out of a fairytale. None of the stuff you say is facts. It's all assumptions or made up stories to justify bad behavior found in Wikipedia. As much as I love to read, I can't be bothered to read crap. Have a blessed day.

As far as Caution is concerned it was definitely a step in the right direction, musically it was fresh but still MC. I still listen to the album daily, I just listened to it yesterday. The one thing I appreciate about Mariah is that she has a style, and sound that is her own. The only album that I would say was not totally MC's sound is Memoirs. However I appreciate the album for what it is. I do believe that MC can work with some unknown producers and strike gold.

I actually would prefer if she kept on looking for just about any other producer she hasn't worked with, especially those whose sound or style would not necessarily be expected to be associated with her. If Caution's any proof, she'll know how to not make all of them tracks sound scattershot as an album despite having an army of cooks in the kitchen. If Caution wasn't fresh enough, then all the more reason to work with new people to update her sound. Mariah never gets buried under varying production styles. She's a chameleon yet puts her own stamp on things, and she'll know when to tell them producers to rein in their enthusiasm.

What More Can I Give? (94,274)
by Todd from Melbourne, Australia

Now would be an excellent time for the Jackson estate to put up 'What More Can I Give' on all platforms. Somehow I ended up with the MP3, it's a good bop, and doesn't sound as early 2000's as it should.

No, Ribbon - I just stay with the facts. Packer is wanted in several countries for his crimes and I took the time to read the prenup when it leaked. Yes, he did want to pay her to be his wife and that marriage was to end after she turned 50. Mariah left the boat she and Packer were vacationing on after Packer blew up at one of her assistants in September. The story is still on this site. They didn't talk since, but Packer began leaking stories of their breakup in October.
Licia - if you can't muster the time to read 2 paragraphs than why are you responding to them in the first place?
I'm not sure where the rest are going off on a tangent about James being near her kids since that had nothing to do with my post. After Tanaka broke his leg he made himself useful by helping out Mariah with the kids. He became a nanny. Which is why Stella couldn't get Mariah to get rid of him. The kids liked him. Yet, he wasn't invited to family events for the first year. It's just Nick and Mariah.

Re: Must see Glitter promo video (94,272)

Have you not seen Glitter? All that happens. She didn't go with corporate, she dated Dice. That interview was shown and several others. She was on the set when they shot that interview, her hair was still being done. Mariah made over 40 songs for Glitter, but the label decides what's going to make it to the album. It's a shame the Prince song didn't work out, but I imagine it didn't fit with the end result of the movie. I still hope she releases it one day.
