Nice article with some great performances, but no If It's Over from either the Grammy's or SNL? She's never sung better in all her life.

The only reason it got 20 million views was because Stella grabbed the chance of releasing it after the New Year's Eve fiasco. Mariah was all over the news at that time but in all the wrong reasons and it reflected on the dislikes in that MV if you will observe it. That era was hell. Thank God Mariah is finally in good state right now.

I haven't listened to I Don't since she released the song (a total of three times lol). I don't hate the song (Lord knows it was a huge step up from Crafinity), but it's not a song I just have to listen to. Plus I'm a little bitter she didn't capitalize on the opportunity to make a hot remix with Donell Jones himself. With her writing skills and his writing skills, that him vs. her duet would have been fire.
I can't complain about the video because I've never watched it. I knew from the initial preview it had the potential to be trash so I didn't waste my time.

What I really don't like about I Don't is the JD's beat. His beats are boring. Otherwise the track is not that bad.

It certainly does suit the story that plays out on that album. By the way, what happened to the Russian dictator? She seems to have vanished. Not that I am complaining.

Yup, I hardly listen to the song because of the same reasons. The video is tasteless and I always have to think about "the witch" during that time. Creepy.

The video did get nearly 20 million YouTube views at the time though, so it appealed to people on some level. But yes. It's not exactly up there with The Roof and Breakdown is it? I also agree, I Don't could have easily found a place on Caution. Part of me wishes it had.

As much as I love MC, the video for I Don't was a major let down everything about it was wrong.

Exactly my thoughts. The song has a great vibe to it and wouldn't have been out of place on "Caution". The video killed it for me.

Does anyone here like this song but end up hating it anyway on every listen because you remember the tacky music video especially the running Mariah on gown and leather jacket at the beginning? Lol my dilemma.

What a concert. I was sitting on the second row, and at one point she looked at me, pointed and said: "I love that you know all my lyrics." The guy behind me tried to steal my moment by telling me that she was pointing at him. I know that it was me. Lol.

I agree with Bill on Babyface. That would be awesome. You know I love me that Babyface and Mariah song writing and production combo.
I'm still mad at myself for not knowing Babyface was involved with Melt Away. I can hear his background vocals clear as day now. It only took me 24 years. Lol.

I think this is one of her best performances the last few years, and I was there, crying through the whole song.
Not only was Without You perfect at her show in Oslo, this performance of Against All Odds was a performance to remember, and I was there.

You meant Memoirs right, re Dream and Tricky? Also Bernard Edwards of Chic is dead. To answer your questions, no, but I do wish she would do some Bacharach and David throwback covers. Dionne might claw her eyes out, but it could be good.

The variability of individuals to engage in discourse in a constructive and supportive manner on this board reveals that all lambs most certainly have not evolved equally. Sometimes in life, one encounters words, concepts and writing styles that one does not fully comprehend. In response, some people learn and expand their minds; others contract and rebuke what is not familiar. As an attorney with over twenty-three years of experience who has a very successful career based upon the words he employs in his work, I take great umbrage to the accusation made concerning my immediately preceding post on this board. Not only is it completely erroneous and offensive but it also reveals an abject ignorance of the subject at hand. For those of us who are actual contemporaries of the artist this site is dedicated to, the name and concept of "First vision" has a very specific and precise meaning and persons who did not pay meticulous attention to her debut, at the time, would not be familiar with it at all. Similarly, those persons likely do not possess the knowledge of the critics' reviews of said "First vision" and the references contained thereto in my preceding post. Nonetheless, I have less than zero interest in engaging with anyone who makes such accusations or who "likes" such accusations. I wish everyone here best wishes in their continued enjoyment of Mariah, her music and career. While I plan to continue to enjoy this site, as I have for over twenty years, I plan to never post or read posts here again. My opinions, insights and expressions are clearly more worthy of other forums. Farewell.

One producer album (94,125)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|

I wonder who MC could let solely co-write and co-produced her next album. I know everybody thinks that The Dream's and Tricky's production on MIAM was too much and probably caused MIAM to fail on the charts. But I feel that MC should give a one producer album another shot with multiple female and male co-writers she had worked with on MIAM and Caution plus new ones like Summer Walker, Ilya, Savan Kotecha, Drake, and Kandi Buruss. Here are my suggestions: 1. London On Da Track 2. Mike Will Made It 3. Danja 4. Pop and Oak 5. Finneas 6. Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards 7. Darryl "DJ" Camper 8. David Foster 9. Babyface 10. Illangelo 11. Nineteen 85 12. Ryan Tedder
