Daydream (90,976) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City) Twenty four years ago today our queen released one of the best albums ever. This album gave Mariah her wings as the greatest female artist in opinion. She gave variety and her voice on this album really put the listener in a dream world so the title itself was a great representation. Also the transition of sound with the pop, and R&B, A/C, and hip hop was truly effortless. Happy 24th anniversary to a pop masterpiece Daydream. (Thursday 3 October 2019; 17:51)

Happy 24th anniversary Daydream (90,972) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada For many fans this is the quintessential Mariah album. Can you believe it has been 24 years? Next year will be the silver anniversary. Hopefully MC has something up her sleeve for that, I'd totally buy a proper deluxe version. I will never forget the first listens I had of the monster hits Fantasy and One Sweet Day. For me though with this album over time it has been the lesser known deep cuts that only ate really talked about by fans, songs like Slipping Away, When I Saw You, Underneath The Stars (shout out to the drifting remix) Melt Away, Forever and Looking In that are stand out essentials for me. As fans we can talk about how she can make improvements all day long. What always remains for me is that there is no one in the world with that unmistakable sound. Her unique voice, is gorgeous to me and just makes me happy. (Thursday 3 October 2019; 16:16)

I mean, we all know Celine lip syncs, but she's so good at it that you can't tell if you're just a casual concert goer. Also, if need be Celine can still sing well; maybe not as well as she used to, but she can still when she's asked to sing and not be dodgy or awkwardly scared about doing it (ie Carpool karaoke and the like). The 90s diva trifecta (90,968) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines These three are held in the same pantheon because although they did the same big voiced, diva pop, that was pretty much the only thing they had in common. Each of them occupied a different space in the industry back then; they had different strengths and weaknesses, and they had their own loyal fanbases. Whitney, the more soulful one, was able to carry her from the 80s into the 90s, and most of her older listeners were likely fans of Aretha and Dionne. Celine, the most mainstream pop one, had many fans who loved Barbra and Karen. Mariah, the more versatile one, inherited fans of Diana, Minnie and Patti. Of course these fandoms would overlap in one way or another, but that's what it would generally look like if their listeners would had to be profiled and classified. Since Celine has established her identity as a live, big venue performer and has catered to the safest, broadest adult contemporary pop audience, it's not surprising that she sells more tickets than Mariah. People admire Celine because of her lungs of steel, discipline and extremely inoffensive image. She is someone who has played it safe her entire career. Mariah, on the other hand, is revered mostly for her musical contributions and artistry, and whatever fans she has now love her because they are aware of how her music affected their lives. Mariah might be on another level, but Celine is an extremely gifted singer. A common mistake people make is to overlook her French albums, which have always been far more superior than her English body of work. She's not just a vocalist. She's an artist. It's funny that when Celine and Mariah first signed with Sony, their stories were so similar (power house vocal, older men steering their careers and personal lives, even their Sony debut album covers look identical). The difference is I can't name a single scandal Celine has every been the centre of during her career. Mariah has had scandals, feuds and a public followed life from the start. Celine doesn't care the weight of all the drama. Plus she's given that breathing room to let the public miss her. (Wednesday 2 October 2019; 03:40)

Mariah's given it so much love over the years, and she did such an amazing rendition when she performed it for the Obama's, they could have used that live version. I also hear it on the radio all the time during the holiday season. Wonder if it wasn't included because someone involved in making the track wouldn't sign off on its inclusion? I'm not a fan of Celine's like that, but she is part of the Divine Trinity for a reason. Each one of them possessed something the other two didn't have. Mariah took risks and stayed relevant longer, but at the same time with she alienated a huge chunk of her core fan base along the way. Just because in a whole year Mariah couldn't sell a tenth of what Celine sold in half an hour, it shouldn't be a reason to be bitter and start bitching about it. Celine is a great vocalist, Mariah is a genius, but they're both legends. Nothing was handed to them, they both earned their accomplishments. Mariah is in a very different league. I would have to get paid to go and see Céline in concert. I would pay to hear Mariah read the phonebook. Two professionals albeit from a very different universe. Does MC want to tour? (90,959) by Nikki from usa Have to ask. Mariah's no fool. She can't have a slew of high profile performances botched and expect to sell serious venues. Which makes sense why she only does small theaters. The Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour seemed to be rushed and impromptu because it sounded like a good idea. She didn't have a lot of bad high profile performances yet. She was getting great reviews on the little tours she did. Her tiny Asian tour right after the release of With You was weird. She did the AMA's then went to Asia for a month to tour and came back. I'm not sure what the point of that "tour" was. The last real tour when MC had all her ducks in a row was the Butterfly Tour. Mariah could be a great touring act if she wanted to be. However, she'd actually have to take the time to plan out the tour properly. She would have to actually promote it publicly and have a few live performances to show what she's offering is worth seeing. Mariah would have to pace herself for proper vocal rest and vocal exercise to keep her voice in shape. But, who am I kidding? MC has the attention span of a gnat. She'd be better off doing a few venues like Unplugged then televising it and sending it to Netflix. (Tuesday 1 October 2019; 22:46)

Celine vs. Mariah (90,958) by Nikki from usa This isn't really a mystery. Celine put herself out to pasture in Vegas. She perfected a routine with the equivalent of circus performers and made a name for herself as a live act. She's been out of the press, she doesn't collab much or outside her genre, and public appearances are few and far between. She didn't have the impact Mariah has had, so nobody is trying to be Celine Dion. She doesn't collab with rappers or the young where anyone would try to make a name for themselves by trying to diss her. Quite frankly, she's not that attractive for anyone trying to get press by claiming they slept with her either. She doesn't do anything outside music. Nor, has anyone ever tried to undermine her career? The only thing people know about her is her reviews as a performer which she's cultivated over 16 years. Mariah's only been seriously touring for 5 years and it's been very low key in venue and advertisements. Most of it even seems to be impromptu. She's never been much of a touring artist in the first place. The charts is Mariah's playground, touring is Celine's. (Tuesday 1 October 2019; 22:29)
