I wonder what made MC commission him to do the remix for DFAU. DFAU is MC's only official double vinyl white cover 12 inch. According Wikipedia, his remixography is impressive. He and Albert Cabrera remixed Duran Duran's Notorious too. It's funny that I am mentioning Tony Moran because I have been on a nonstop mission this summer to visit all of my 12 inch dance vinyl records lately thanks to the Portrait (Hopeful Child Remix). She told me about the woman who gave an impassioned speech on why Mariah should be inducted and the people cried. Then there is a music journalist who is here. I walk up to him and say, "Hey, Alan. I'm a huge Mariah Carey fan. In 1997 you told the Baltimore Sun this about Mariah..." Shocked, he laughs, and we chat about Mariah and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - he, too, is a voting member. Rap features (106,801) by Matthew from USA It depends on the rap. On MIAM, Nas does a rap feature on Dedicated, where she reminisces about falling in love with rap music, which was age appropriate. There are also more philosophical rappers like Lauryn Hill or Floetry that would work. I also don't think anyone could be mad if Busta Rhymes or Bone Thugs come through for their 3rd collabs - those rappers are aging with Mariah so I don't think that would be a big deal. It might be an issue if she tries to get with a rapper that is much younger, but maybe not. After all, she did have a song with Gunna on Caution that was cute. Ultimately, I think hip-hop and Mariah go back like babies and pacifiers. She is one of the pioneers of "hip-pop". So it would be more outrageous if she abandoned rap altogether. I don't think she will, especially since rap-singing is in right now and it's not too vocally demanding. I'd be more surprised if she decided to do a whole album of difficult ballads. MC has always collaborated with the hottest producers at the moment since TEOM like The Neptunes, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, Mike Will Made It, Hit-Boy, and Scott Storch. I am saying if she wants to upgrade her signature sound, then MC is going to have to collaborate with other producers and songwriters who are not necessarily the hottest producer at the moment. I think the days of hottest producer at moment ended with Darryl DJ Camper's and Diplo's reign five years ago. I am going to go ahead and make a prediction for MC16. I think MC has finally realized that she is going to have to step out of her comfort zone and collaborate with new producers.
