Barbra and Mariah (108,135) by jaker20 from US
Barbra: 36 studio albums, 12 compilations, and 15 soundtracks

Mariah: 15 studio albums, 6 compilations. 0 soundtracks

Do you see where I'm going here? 2 years later, the album she's saying already have 5 songs done, and she still can't finish it. And now Barbra, who is 82 is releasing another album, while Mariah is doing Vegas with no new song, not even a collab, a remix, or anything.

It is so annoying that every single year, after very Christmas peaks, she can't come up with something, anything. Annoying and sad really. Forget voice or anything, I don't think she's got artistry left anymore tbh. Voice can be layered, remixed and be done with studio work. Artistry you can't, that's really what's she's lost.

Let's just hope that the song will be good and not boring.

When Celine and Barbra recorded "Tell Him", Barbra was 55, same age as Mariah is now, but she gave Celine a run for her money. I know it's a different time and context, but I had hoped Mariah would be at a similar vocal level now. Given that Barbra is almost 83 and Mariah's voice is what it is, the duet will likely be very subdued. Let's hope for the best.

Her album is going to be filled with pop standards that will be radio friendly. I am thinking the Barbara/Mariah/Ariana duet will be radio friendly like her Tell Him duet with Celine.

I hope her duet with Barbra isn't similar to her duet with Tony Bennett "When Do The Bells Ring for Me".

I am trying to imagine how a MC and Walter A. ballad would sound in 2025. So let's think back to their early ballads like Love Takes Time, So Blessed, Hero, Just To Hold You Once Again. Those songs would suit her current voice well. Here is my analysis of the four songs.

1. MC sings in a reserved way.
2. There are not a lot of riffs and runs.
3. She doesn't do any heavy and prolonged belting.
4. Walter A.'s chords and production would make music critics say MC is returning to her original form that gave her hits after hits.

Now if they did get back together for some songs on MC16, it would make 7 years of waiting for MC16 well worth it.

This would be amazing if Mariah and Walter could reunite. Maybe she's thinking if this is gonna be my last album, let's take it back to my roots.

The Grammys and Mariah's residency (108,125) by Jono from USA
While I am a huge Beyonce fan as well, I think the issue should be with the Recording Academy and how they've wrongfully snubbed Mariah for so many years. I also think it's impossible for a show like the Grammys to ever make everybody happy because music tastes are so diverse that someone is always going to be upset. I take Beyonce's AOTY win as them making up for the past times she rightfully should've won. Whether or not you liked Cowboy Carter, you have to admit that it's extremely impressive, her previous album was a house record and this one is country. There is zero crossover with those two genres, so I think we need to give her credit that she's still challenging herself.

Now on to Mariah - I no longer watch videos of her shows, only because it's just a shell of who she is. I can tell her heart isn't in it anymore. She's always preferred the studio, so I'd rather her release new music rather than tour - although that's the way for musicians to make the big money nowadays. We know Mariah isn't a dancer, but at least she used to move around the stage and command the audience. I remember during the pandemic, Mariah said the extra time and rest let her voice heal, but I have yet to see proof of that outside of the studio. Still hoping for new music this year.

She has more Grammys than Mariah, Celine, Madonna, Janet and Whitney combined. Crazy.

I agree. I think it's so regrettable that critics and the award shows did not properly appreciate Mariah during her prime years. "Butterfly" was such a great album and should have been nominated for more awards. Sony also should have promoted it better and allowed "Breakdown" and/or "The Roof" to be official singles in the United States. It's also frustrating that "Butterfly" received a radio-only release, as it definitely could have gone to #1 and is one of her best ballads.

"Butterfly" the song was nominated for best pop vocal performance but lost to Sarah McLachlan's "Building a Mystery", which I thought deserved the award. But Mariah should have gotten something for the album.

Honestly, I don't need Ariana on it, but Barbra and Mariah that sounds cool. I still would prefer a Mariah only release. But Barbra and Mariah that could be a big surprise. I'm ecxited for it.

It is one possible way that could lead to MC being played on Pop radio again besides a Christmas song. I am here for more pop collaborations especially with Walter A. What if a truce happened and we had no idea that Walter A. and MC are on good terms in 2025.

If Barbra wants to work with MC, everything must be A okay with her voice. This is wonderful news.

"It also feels wrong that Beyoncé has more Grammy Awards than Aretha Franklin." Absolutely, that is just wrong. I can't take that award show seriously. It has become a joke like a Muppet Show.

If she can produce vocals good enough to sing with Barbra and Ariana on the same song, then that puts to bed rumours that her vocals are why she’s not recording an album. I think Mariah would not sign off on such a collaboration unless her voice could pull it off.

It is an absolute travesty that Butterfly wasn't nominated for an album of the year. It is a masterpiece and since then, I don't follow Grammy's any more.

Wild rumours circulating about Mariah having done a song with Barbra S and Ariana reported by many sites for Barbra's next album. One site actually reported Walter A is the album's producer.

Really? (108,112) by Edward from USA
Not only did Beyonce win Best Country Album, but she also took home Country Album of the Year, an absolute travesty. Even she seemed shocked to receive the award. The Grammys have become a complete joke. What's next, Best Fart of the Year? Give me fat effing break.

The Grammys (108,111) by BFF from United States
Grammys that Mariah was nominated for and should have won by the year:

1991
"Vision of Love" should have won for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. It's a better song and vocal performance than any of the others that nominated.

1996
"Daydream" should have won Best Pop Vocal Album. Joni Mitchell's "Turbulent Indigo" is not anywhere near Mitchell's best work, and "Daydream" is a better album.
"One Sweet Day" should have won "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals" and "Record of the Year". I loved Seal's "Kiss From a Rose", but it didn't need to win Song of the Year and Record of the Year. And why wasn't "One Sweet Day" nominated for "Song of the Year"?

2000
"When You Believe" should have won "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals". "Smooth" by Santana and Rob Thomas did not need to win in this category.

2006
"We Belong Together" should have won Record of the Year and Song of the Year. It is undeniable that this song was the biggest of the year, and to give the awards to Green Day and U2 was slap in the face to Mariah when she had a great year.
