Rarities re-release (102,132) by Brad from USA
Does anyone know if this will have added tracks to it or if it's the same tracks as the original release? The article I read wasn't quite clear on that point. Thanks.

Butterfly tour footage - Sydney (102,131) by Terna from Nigeria
You can hear her voice very clear in these clips, it's a very clear recording. Unfortunately, one can also hear how damaged her voice was even then (1998). How did you manage to fry your instrument in just 8 years? She's really struggling vocally especially on "My All" the incessant scratches one can hear and the whistle notes in "Emotions" are very weak and airy and almost not even picked up by the [microphone]. I don't know what Mariah's problem is, but one would think that developing nodules would've gotten her serious about the technical aspects of singing, how they came to be, what she did wrong and how to remedy the situation because any trained and qualified vocal coach would let you know. Instead she adjusted her singing style and the way she pronounced words going from rounded glossed vowel sounds, to a jarring unpleasant strained sound, adding even more pressure and kept on managing the situation. It's so unfortunate how she had this glorious instrument and just totally ruined it, literally threw it away.

Kalispéra Billy, thank you so much for sharing this. My fan heart is so pleased because of the Emotions and My All live version. It's so good. I love the Australia videos from the Butterfly Tour. 90ies Mariah was matchless. I love her speaking voice, the look, everything.

I owe Mariah's earpiece an apology (102,128) by Randy from USA
So the Dubai concert Beyonce did has taken over my TikTok. I noticed one thing. She was singing a note and started fiddling with her ear monitor. I thought that was something only MC did when she knew she sounded bad to fool the audience into thinking she couldn't hear herself and there were technical issues. I will say Beyoncé sounded fine when she was messing with it so maybe she couldn't hear herself. I notice Mariah does it every time she's on television but at any rate, does anyone have any knowledge on this topic? Why do people have to adjust the volume on them? Isn't this what a sound check is for? Why are they necessary at all? What did singers do in the 60s and 70s when they didn't have the option to have them?

New Mariah BGs on Zara Larsson (102,127) by Mariahsbaby from usa
I honestly don't believe her, and I'm hoping Mariah chooses to do other types of charity work. She also made a tweet that the Quentin Tarantino has been bugging her about a music video. And that Leonardo DiCaprio has a small cameo. This girl seriously thinks we believe her. I hope her lies go viral because her music won't. I also won't be supporting her new music or any music she ever releases if she lied.

Memoirs is underrated (102,125) by Edward from USA
Fans didn't pay dust to "The Rarities", her remaining fans supported it. It made it to be #30 on the Billboard Hot 200. The old music was great, but out of the three bonus tracks, only "Lullaby of Birdland" was worthy of being on there. She could've cooked three killer jams for the occasion. The difference in quality between the old and the new material was palpable overall. I actually think it was a missed opportunity for a couple of great collaborations. I replaced "Save the Day" and " Close My Eyes" with "Right to Dream" and " Help Me Make It" respectively.

New Mariah BGs on Zara Larsson (102,123) by "MariahHater" from Hell
Breaking the turf wars between classic discographies and Titanic-esque songs that sunk in the ocean. Reportedly and admitted by Zara that Mimi lent her BGVs on her new song. No bashing. Just love. And FYI. As people here loves to ram (lambs with horns) one [another]. Hope [you] guys can catch the pun.

Lambs paid dust to The Rarities just a few years ago which had a few cute gems, while last year she had a global hit with BER which is partly a remix of a catalog, so I kind of get the frustration of putting out new music in this industry landscape. But yes I agree, I think she could still pull some hits if she put her creativity. I mean who would have thought Miley having a comeback. She's been bombing these last few years. I thought she's done, now she's got a massive song.

I just received a fan made CD of all the Memoirs Jumpsmokers remixes that I purchased off Ebay. There is not one bad track on the CD. Finally there is a 4 minutes dance version of Languishing. Randy, you would love it. It's a shame this album was never released back in 2010. Hit me up for the seller information.

"That is the beauty of Mariah's catalog, there's still so much to explore because some of them didn't necessarily explore when they were released initially". Yes of course no one is denying this but fact is she needs to be releasing new songs not trying to make those old songs "happen" so to speak. They're still old songs that didn't get their chance for whatever reason, and the window of opportunity closed. That ship has long sailed and sunk at sea.

I tend to disagree. Lead The Way is my all time favorite ballad that I'm confident she would never sing 100% live. I am though 100% grateful she did at some point and I will that recording until the day I die.

Caution (102,118) by Bobby A from United States
I am just wondering what made satisfying for the Lambs and achieve critically acclaim status from critics. I look back now because I think MC created a new genre of music that I call R&B Fused Neo-Soul. I think that is what MC released to world in 2018. My only disappointment was that singles choices were out of sequence and the absurd instant grats concept. Sounds like a Jay Z idea. A No No should have been released as the official first single over With You. Can you imagine a Junior Vasquez club mix with resung vocals? How many other artists have records executives who screw up single choices? I can't think of any except MC.

Beyonce lipping (102,117) by BFF from United States
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the "everybody else is doing it, so why can't we" approach to lip-syncing. The fact that a number of artists lip-synch a good portion of their shows does not make it any less dishonest.

Bottom line: People are forking over hard-earned money for often exorbitantly priced tickets to see a show and to support the artists they love. If an artist advertises themselves as a "singer-songwriter", vocalist", et cetera, they need to be singing most or all of the songs live. And if they're not confident they can handle the songs live, they need to work harder at training their voices and getting fit for the tour, adjust the songs to fit their voice as it is, or they need to not go on tour.

The fact of the matter is that these artists have the privilege of earning a living from something that most people do as a hobby.

Well I disagree. They are still accessible Mariah songs, they are still very pop and can have a second life with a few cute viral moments here and there. With the Gen Z and Alpha, they will dig it because they still fresh. Obsessed did go viral a few years ago because it has a timeless chorus. In fact I listen to E=MC2 more than Emancipation. Now there is about a dozen songs I listen to regularly between that and Memoirs. Emancipation is undoubtedly a masterpiece, but are you really going to listen to it every day for 15 years? That is the beauty of Mariah's catalog, there's still so much to explore because some of them didn't necessarily explore when they were released initially.

I find H.A.T.E.U to be absolutely haunting, Standing O has a really great beat, and I used to hate Angels Cry and I bet if she lends it to a show it can have a huge revival. It sounds timeless.

"Fun" is a good word. Its a Wrap is breakup song but it's fun and light. It's still growing on Spotify, I hope it continues. But I find myself listening to the original Up Out My Face more.

I was just thinking about E=MC2. It was a total disappointment for me. It has some very weak songs that were more like album fillers. I am speaking about Cruise Control, Stay In Love, Last Kiss, OCC, Bye Bye and Love Story. Those six songs should have been left off and replaced with stronger songs. Def Jam stopped all promotion after Bye Bye stalled at #19 on the Hot 100 and MC's mind was on Nick. Danja and Scott Storch should have done more songs. One fun fact, E=MC2 had more album variations from other countries than any of MC's album releases including The Mimi E=MC2 Adventures Box.

I agree. I think the "Memoirs" album is underrated and better than E=MC2, but it's too long. I really don't like "Obsessed" amongst the singles in her catalogue - the auto-tune use was a major turnoff. I probably would have picked a different song to remake other than "I Want to Know What Love Is" - it just didn't work and felt a little random since she hadn't covered anything in a while. I went to the Atlanta tour date of the "Angels Advocate" tour and remember being bummed when the remix album "Angels Advocate" was cancelled. She leaned pretty heavily into her role in "Precious" during this period, which was a little surprising considering how small her role is in the movie. Everyone was like "Oh, this is proof she can act." but I found her much more compelling in "Wisegirls" and "Tennessee". Her role in "Tennessee" was much larger and she recorded two songs for it, but she hardly did any promotion for the film or "Right to Dream", which is a great song.

Beyonce lipping (102,112) by Tyler from USA
I just saw a few clips from the Beyonce show and she pretty much lipped the same amount as MC. All of the harder runs and notes were completely pre-records. I was surprised given that fact this was a very low choreography driven show. I'm not saying this to put another artist down to make Mariah look better but the fact there's very few artist doing 100% live shows. I think the days of 100% vocally driven concert of the 90's are gone for most artist not just MC. All we need is Beyonce's audio guy to help blend the vocals and more practicing on Mariah's part.

I feel like the album is underrated and too long. I don't begrudge any of the songs but did Ribbon, More Than Just Friends, Standing O or Inseparable add anything to her catalogue? I do love Languishing though. It's actually one of my most played songs by her right now.

Apart from "Obsessed" being released as a single and being a monster hit it was, I really did not see another tangible single release from "Memoirs" as to me Mariah was not really in search of [hits] per say. The album is "moody" as someone here pointed out and none of the songs single material. But then again, having only one producer team Tricky and The Dream was to blame for that. Save for "The Emancipation of Mimi", Mariah really did struggle in the 2000's and has ever since.

"The Dream" was definitely hot back then, but there a variety of hot producers back then too. I don't think Memoirs is a bad album, there are many songs I do like, and there are some great lyrics on it too, actually her last decent cover is on it, but that's one thing. I refer to the variety in sound. Different from E=MC2, it is kind of boring to me, that's all. There was supposed to be project with the remixes for it, and it was shelved too.
