No, I'd say degrading women we don't know is "too much", but hey, we've all different priorities when it comes to respect, eh? Some insult strangers, some insult those who call out the ones that insult strangers. I know who I'd rather be.

Lady B, you're fully proving my point; You've thrown out a completely nonsense insinuation that I'm Andrew (when I've been here literal decades, and longer than both of you), just so that you can feel better when, what I'm actually doing is a) calling out others who are being nasty about strangers for no reason, something Andrew, literally, would never have done and b) highlighting the hypocrisy of what's allowed on the board. At one point, Andrew was allowed years of racism, but was thrown off because he, rightly, in my opinion, said that Mariah increased her cup size with surgery to match her larger frame. That wasn't tolerated, and was considered insulting. But literal, actual quotes about women on this board in the past week have included: The women are "superficial" and "just like a barbie doll"/"(The women) are all disgusting"/Insinuations that they're "nut cases"/That they're "stupid"/They are "dumb and opportunistic"/Insinuations that they have or are opening themselves to "sti's"/That they have "no respect for their wombs". Insults against Nick include: Nick is "dumb and careless"/That he won't take care of his kids/he is "pathologically spreading his seed because of his mortality"/"Spreading his seed and having ten jobs are related and he must think it equals superiority or masculinity"/It's inferred he's a "clown" and "thirsty"/That he is a "psychopath"
All of the above were stated without a single bit of context or knowledge about who these people are, their decisions, their lives or relationships. But all are justified because you like Mariah's voice. If you think that any of those comments about women are justified, fair, or not thoroughly insulting, thus breaching rules of the board, then you're the problem. I'm definitely not the problem for calling it out and requesting we don't degrade women in that way.

The belt in Fantasy is from another world, the full voice in Dreamlover, the entire reimagining of ATYNAF and "love is like suicide" added a new meaning to the song (almost like those lyrics were tooled from the OG lyrics because it's too dark).

You're right, it is a message board. But it's a Mariah Carey message board. Why we're dissecting how many jobs he has, tying that into your imagined ideas of his relationship to masculinity or mortality, or why I have to read people insulting females and calling them barbies and trash, is beyond me. What's it to you? Or, more importantly, what's it got to do with Mariah? Talking about her kids father like this certainly isn't respectful, nor does it adhere to the rules of the board. Why dissect and add a negative slant to how many jobs he has when Mariahs not exactly sticking to her one job? Why disrespect strangers with slurs and gossip? And why do it based off your own ill informed judgements? Why call women barbies and trash as an insult when Mariah, at times, isn't too far from a barbie herself? Damn, she's even stood in a Barbie box in UOMF. But it's okay when Mariah has multiple jobs/stands as stiff as a doll and as bleach blonde as a barbie, but not when someone else does, I guess - not that they even did, it's just being used to disrespect them. And If it's not that serious, then I repeat my question; why ya'll repeatedly slandering and gossiping about people/topics that have nothing to do with Mariah? I come here to read about and discuss Mariah, not slander/read shit about men or women because you're obsessed with how someone's voice sounds. I'll close by saying, again, you're right: what Nick does "isn't that deep". Be nice or leave - or does that rule only apply to Andrew?

Open Arms was released in the UK and got to Number 4. The Wind is technically a remake, but the original was an instrumental, Mariah added lyrics.

Oh yes, I missed that one out lol. I have to rearrange it because it's in my top 3. Thanks Rashidi. I knew I was missing something I can't believe it. Now it's top ten and Out Here On My Own comes after I Still Believe.

As for me, my favorite would be Out Here On My Own. Perfect vocals; raw and expressive. I wonder why Mariah didn't include the song in either Chatmbracelet or The Emancipation of Mimi. It could be a hit.

I wonder (99,639)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
We all know that Mariah likes to record at night. I wonder has she always been that way. She really didn't talk or post pictures about it until around the TEOM area. I wonder did Tommy allow her to record at night during their marriage. The Dream said that she had him working like a slave. JD couldn't spend more time with Janet because of recording with MC. It is definitely obvious that her voice works and sounds better at night. Remember the epic #Beautiful whistle notes failure on Good Morning America in 2013. The look on Miguel's face was like "C'mon baby, you got this." Lol. I wish that I could post the video.

Mariah cover songs (99,637)
by Lainsky from Philippines
| |
|
|
Lately, I have been listening to almost all of Mariah's cover songs from her studio albums. I could not help but notice something. I kept repeating some of these cover songs. We all know that some are album fillers while the rest are released as singles. Probably, she has done a dozen remakes from her catalog or even more. What are your favorites? Here's my top nine list.
1. I Still Believe - sounds better than the original (sorry Brenda) 2. Open Arms - released as a single in my country after Fantasy, it could have been a number 1 hit in US or UK 3. Do You Know Where You're Going To - simply love her rendition, especially the whistling part at the end 4. Without You - let the song speak for itself 5. I'll Be There - fell in love with her more with this remake 6. I Want To Know What Love Is - she's almost there in this one but still sounds good 7. Bringing On The Heartbreak - wish she cover another pop-rock song and make it her own 8. I Didn't Mean To Turn You On - love her take on this, it would be nice for her to cover another dance track like this 9. Against All Odds - the full voice and high note display is remarkable
I guess nine is okay for a change. I don't listen to others that are not on the list. There's One More Try (MIAMTEC), Beautiful Ones (Butterfly), and The Wind (Emotions - this is a remake, right?). Again, covers from her albums only. Tributes are excluded. Care to share yours?

Pw, it's not that serious, this is a discussion board, that's all. It's never that serious. I think you missed the discussion; 8 children plus 8 jobs. How precent can one human be for 16 major responsibilities? 8 of which demand an emotional presences and physical presence. It wasn't about his career hustle; it's about what a child needs from their father.

Melt Away. Oh, how I wished she had performed this song live with Melanie Daniels, Cindy Mizelle, The Price Sisters and Trey. The background vocals that MC did are probably her best in arrangements.

Best background vocals:
Underneath the Stars - The acapella revealed so many more layers than you can hear on the album version. I adore the "young love" and the harmonies on the bridge.
Never Forget You - Babyface and Mariah's vocals melding together just sounds divine. I love the arrangement of the backings on this song, and the "ohs" after the beats on the chorus.
Can't Let Go - If only for the harmonising with that final upper register "go". I also love the backgrounds during the bridge, they're so dramatic.
Slipping Away - As the song enters its outro, and the bridge and the chorus are blended together over Mariah's as libs - wow.
Vision of Love - The first and fairest of them all. Love that she kept the demo vocals in for posterity, and the first ever high note of hers the world would hear.
