I'm thoroughly disturbed by this and Eric I'm sorry you had to experience that while all you were trying to do was give the lambs a nice safe place to discuss their love for Mariah. Just wanted to let you know I appreciate you and thank you for taking the time to keeping this board alive.

Indeed. I'm really glad he's gone. It's in keeping with the "Be Nice or Leave" mantra.

I think there will be some good surprises on the music front this year. Can't wait!

Eric, would you post what Andrew wrote to you? I'm curious.

Great summary of the year. MC30 was an amazing treat, and I don't think I'll ever get over The Rarities and hearing "new" 1990 vocals on Here We Go Around Again. That song is sublime. Although the end of it is iffy.

Nikki, I wholeheartedly agree! MCArchives has always been a place of enjoyment! Most don't even recognize the amount of work that goes into maintaining a fan site, never-mind the effort to maintain a friendly environment.

I agree so much with what you said about Mariah and I do hope she is living her best life with her projects both professionally and personally; she deserves it!

Re: Fave live performances (97,923) (97,930) by Bill from the UK
Always here for a list. In no particular order:

1. If It's Over at the Grammy's in 1992.
2. I'll Be There on Top of the Pops in 1992.
3. America the Beautiful at the NBA Finals in 1990.
4. Hark the Herald Angels Sing on GMA 1991.
5. Joy to the World at St. John the Divine 1994.

Bonus:
The entire London concert of the Daydream tour in Wembley Arena in 1996, which I attended.

Hey lambs, it's been a minute. Thank you webmaster for keeping this space enjoyable at all costs, your last message was a refreshing relief. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels more inclined to post now.

Can you all believe what our girl gave us in 2020? The live snippets, the at-home concerts, mashups, encouraging words, MC30. And then she drops the memoir. The memoir to me, was a backdrop to her music catalogue. So much of it was written in the same vein as some of her music. How often to we get to see the person behind the music, in their own words, while they are still young yet so accomplished? Her struggle is real and I loved the memoir so much. That said, the writing and live reading process had to be immensely healing for her, she's even said it herself. There is no way that this healing wouldn't affect her art. I cannot wait to see what she writes about in her new songs and music. And even better, she has been resting and healing her instrument. I can't even. She is on fire in a whole new way, a slow burn, and I can't even know what to say about it. She's been growing up again and I'm so here for it.

And then there was The Rarities. I love this set so much. The music is great, so cool to hear her float through the back hallways of so many of her eras passed. The closure that it brings to a chapter(s) of her career, the celebration, the reveals, it's just so good. And the black and white cover makes it seem as if it's ancient history, a timeless masterpiece.

She is an artist anew for MC16. I have a feeling she is reinventing herself for this new era. I just really wanted to acknowledge how much she shared and gave and created in 2020. She seems full of life and love and grounded in a whole new way.

This board has been a gem in so many ways. We are music and art enthusiasts. We just like having a space to dive in deeper and appreciate the intricacies of her music that the casual listener doesn't notice. Let's keep this space as special as it is.

New material (97,924) by Libra Lamb from USA
I am very excited at the thought of Mariah working on new music. I can't wait to see what she puts out next. I will support her in any way I can, of course. On another note, Malfoy from the House of Slytherin has been really quiet, almost too quiet. I'm not complaining at all, just curious and hope all is well.

Nice topic. You had quite alot of performances in the top 5, but I think I will list only five live performances, if that's ok.

1. Make it Happen - Live at Madison Square Garden
2. We Belong Together - Live 8
3. Anytime You Need a Friend - Tokyo Dome 1996
4. Honey - Butterfly World Tour Hawaii
5. I'll be Lovin' U Long Time - MTV Video vanguard award Japan

Re: Label vs. managment (97,907) (97,922) by B from United States
Her manager Melissa Ruderman left Roc Nation. Her and her team did what seemed impossible they rehabilitated Mariah's image after Stella's 3/4 year reign of terror. Mariah's legacy is secure but I don't want her to become a legacy act she's too young for that.

Streaming is the problem. Artists make pennies off of hundreds of thousands of streams and that's if they have a writing credit.

Fave live performances (97,919) by Lainsky from Philippines
Over the weekend, I watched Mariah's live performances from her Tokyo Dome Concert (1996), Thanksgiving (1994), VH1 Divas Live (1998), and TAOM (2006). I realized that I watched her full performances on the following songs. I guess, it will be my all-time favorite live performances of her. I enjoyed truly all of it.
1. Tokyo Dome - Emotions, Fantasy, I Don't Wanna Cry, Make It Happen, Anytime You Need A Friend.
2. Thanksgiving - Emotions, Hero, Without You, Anytime You Need A Friend, Someday, Vision of Love, Love Takes Time.
3. Divas Live - My All, Make It Happen, Chain of Fools. For some reason, I love her total look here.
4. TAOM - Heartbreaker, Dreamlover, Make It Happen, Fly Like A Bird, Don't Forget About Us, We Belong Together.
The only One Sweet Day live performance that I love is from the Madison Square Garden, best live rendition ever. The rests of the songs from this concert, well, I love the album version for some reason lol! Just sharing guys.

New artists (97,917) by Bobby A from United States
I found three new male R&B and Electronic artists today on vinyl. Ry X, Sampha, and Gary Clark Jr. I am just amazed at all three. Why didn't someone tell me about Gary Clark Jr. before now? Can you imagine a Gary Clark Jr. and Mariah Carey collaboration? Sampha has produced for Drake, Solange, Kanye West, and among others. He should collaborate with MC. Ry X is just perfect for a weekend party with a bunch of your friends over. His music is an electronic chill out experience you have to Iisten to. Think Tiesto but more R&B sounding.

We're probably getting some non Christmas related goodies too. I'm excited. Mariah keeps hustling like she's got rent to pay haha kidding. I love it that she spoils us.

The new vocals will be heard this summer on the Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis album. It will our first glimpse of what she will sound like on MC16.

We learned very early this year that Mariah signed a huge deal in partnership with AppleTV for a Christmas special and a nice big budget. Lambs to be fed quite nicely this holiday season.

With You (97,913) by Bobby A from United States
I played With You yesterday. I really listened to it right after listening to Mine Again. With You really shows what MC was saying about Caution not being her best vocally. Even with the low key that it is sung in, I noticed MC sounding really tired on the verses. The background vocals and harmonies are on point. Hopefully, we will hear 1999 MC soon.
