Re: Something's up (97,908) (97,912) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Whenever Mariah is quiet on social media it almost always means she's working hard on new stuff (yay for us lambs). As some other lambs already mentioned she did get on Twitter Lambily Lounge randomly and talked with fans. She sounded healthy and in good mood and said she missed the fans so she wanted to just come and talk. She spilled some tea on what we can expect. One being a "9 minute song" (we don't know if it's new or old or a medley) that she is obsessed with and claimed it's her best work to date. She mentioned Christmas projects too. So she's definitely continuously working.

I don't know if anybody heard her on Twitter spaces a few days ago when she had a random conversation with a few lucky fans. She said she's been busy working on a couple of different music projects, one of which is Christmas related. She seemed very excited about what she's been recording and said she hasn't made anything like this in years. Not sure if it was in this same conversation or not where she said that her voice is also in a much better place than it's been in years.

In addition, she has recorded a song for Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis's album coming this June which features an all star line up. Here's hoping we have some good music coming up later this year.

I was wondering too, because of the IG. Indeed very silent. Hmm, yes let's hope she's fine and healthy.

MC is just working hard on MC 16. She said recently with Lambs on a social media chat app that she is just obsessed with this new music. She said that she is working on a show. You can not post on social media every day if you are in the studio all night until six in morning. She is good young Lamb. We should be asking if Andrew is good. He has been awful quietly lately.

Hope everyone is doing well. As a lamb of 30+ years who has followed her every move extremely closely during that time, my instincts tell me something is up with our MC. Hopefully she and her family are well in their health. Her general absence from IG and a lot of social media since mid-February has been very, very odd. She may be going through some stuff. Hopefully all will be ok and she will rebound personally and professionally. We all wish her well and love her. Be well.

Re: Label vs. managment (97,906) (97,907) by T from USA
Are you sure she's still with [Roc Nation]? They removed her from their website.

Label vs. managment (97,906) by Nikki from usa
There seems to be some confusion over the two. Carey is signed to Roc Nation as a management company only. They manage her products and help to promote her. She found out very early with #1's to Infinity that she wouldn't be getting a lot of support from her label. Also, that's why she was surprised by her label putting out the Mariah Experience for Caution.

Mariah's still with Sony Music. She was originally under Epic, her picture is still there, but was moved to their Legacy label. She's just not a priority artist. Another reason why she needs a separate management team. Also, why we see so many live versions of her singing at home. Her label only owns the masters to the recorded versions of the songs. She owns whatever new thing she does.

Carey signed a 3 album deal. She's only put out 1 new studio album. She still owes 2 more. Releasing old material is just a compilation and doesn't count, but part of the reason she's on Legacy.

Re: Go independent (97,880) (97,905) by Nikki from usa
Not likely. Carey has an annual hit and a huge back catalog. As long as her music videos can still get millions of views, she's profitable. They get 50% of that. They don't really spend money to promote her.

Re: Epic (97,883) (97,904) by Nikki from usa
Love, Epic is a part of Sony. Sony Music is a parent company. They have many little labels under them. It's not uncommon for parent companies to switch artists around.

Re: Dionne Warwick (97,902) (97,903) by 123 from USA
Dionne Warwick is a legendary old school diva who comes from a era where everyone was competition, where shade throwing is not only the norm but expected. She's smart and she knows making these statements will gain traction and continued relevancy. She did state that she loves Mariah's music and writes "incredibly well". So regardless if she feels she is an icon or not, she still gave her props for her music and writing capabilities which is more than some folks give her credit for. I wouldn't tangle with Ms Warwick though. Does anyone remember when she was on celebrity apprentice and she called Nikki Taylor a "hussy" and was the villain of the season. I was dying laughing.

Though I was personally unbothered/unmoved by Ms Dionne Warwick's take on whether Mariah (and other great female artist of the 90s) were considered legends/icons now. I must say it was nice to see the general public (respectfully) come to Mariah's defense and state why she is in fact undeniably very much a legend/icon living. The people have spoken and I agree.

Yes, absolutely hilarious. It's awesome that she gets it and is a fan of the parody. Maybe they will poke fun at this moment in an upcoming installment. The jokes will write themselves. I love when people tweet her, "drag me queen", it's hilarious.

It's more than silly. More like pathetic. I read some of her tweets and they were funny. Have you seen the SNL skits where they spoofed her a couple times and did The Dionne Warwick show? I thought it was hysterical.

Re: WIB played on mainstream radio, success (97,894) (97,895) by RibbonB from USA
That is pretty good, because I rarely hear Busta songs on the radio. I just saw the video. It's odd, but at least they seemed like they had fun at the end. Mimi did her usual poses. I'm glad he trimmed down a bit because he had really been hating out of his leather the past decade or so.

WIB played on mainstream radio, success (97,894) by T from USA
The fact that a new Mariah song in her current voice and age has been played on mainstream top 40 radio (albeit only 2 spins) is huge in my opinion. That is the biggest thing for the WIB era I will take away. As long as the door is opened a crack can always get wider with the right material. Urban spins are picking up fast, and Rhythmic radio is almost in the top 40 for spins.

Re: Dionne Warwick (97,892) (97,893) by RibbonB from USA
Dionne also made clear in a subsequent video that she wasn't shading any of the amazing ladies that she was asked about. It's silly how quickly fan bases start dragging and being petty. I think it's cool and educational when true veterans, legends even, speak their minds. Even Mimi has a right to express her own opinions as she did in her memoir.

Re: Dionne Warwick (97,891) (97,892) by RibbonB from USA
She gave her honest, thoughtful, opinion. she wasn't even being mean. Lots of people would have to "think about that". Whether or not someone is iconic, is totally subjective. I think a lot of her peers and other legends would have to ponder that as well.

Re: Def Jam (97,888) (97,890) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
She couldn't have gone to Columbia without fulfilling her contract with Def Jam or without them buying her out. Also she probably felt betrayed by them and saw where she got support.

Re: Def Jam (97,884) (97,888) by T from USA
I wish she took the momentum after TEOM and went back to Columbia in 2007. I think they would have invested huge in her next release. I understand why she stayed on Island/DJ as LA Reid was still head but with each release the promo dwindled. Honourable mentions to TMB, and #Beautiful which did get a very decent label push.

Roc Nation removed her from their website artist roster. I don't think Mariah has a company behind her.
