Re: Charmbracelet EPs (97,191) (97,195) by Stacey from USA
I've had all these remixes for years. I collected her CDs for years. That's probably why none of the #MC30 releases have been a surprise to me, lol.

The hours you've spent correcting my messages. But you won't change "life" to "live"? You're getting lazy in your old age.

Re: #MC30 releases are back (97,188) (97,193) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
These MC30 releases feel a little... passionless. Feel like she wants to skip to Emancipation. Not including live performances and television performances is a mistake. Including them makes it feel like a representation of a project or an era. This Charmbracelet release feels like Mariah sat at home and nodded to someone whilst sipping Caymus.

Charmbracelet EPs (97,191) by enwar00 from usa
I'm in love. And I am shocked.

This was the first era where no CD maxi single with remixes was released in the States, so I only knew the Through The Rain Hex Hector/Mac Quayle radio edit from the single and The Remixes. I heard the Street Mix of Boy once on YouTube and a remix of BOTH a few times in the club drunk years ago. So while I understand people's qualms with a few missing remixes and instrumentals, for me this is a plethora of fresh and inventive new mixes that I had no idea even existed, and so far they've far exceeded my expectations.

This is especially surprising since Charmbracelet is one of my least favorite MC albums, and now I can't help but think that era could have felt completely different if handled differently. Irregardless I'm so excited having this experience as the first MC30 release of the year after the Christmas schtick started to feel stale to me last month.

First I listened to I Only Wanted EP yesterday, which is good and reminds me of both the Peter Rauhofer mix of WBT and the Classic Club Mix of Honey.

Next I listened to The One EP, and I instantly loved the Wildlife Club Mix. That may be my favorite off these EPs so far.

Then I listened to the Boy EP and I must say I enjoy all of the different rhythmic beats with each remix. The Panjabi one sticks out but I like them all.

I listened to these repeatedly then tonight heard the epic, twelve minute full Hex Hector/Mac Quale Club Mix of TTR for the first time ever. What a thrill. I don't think the edit does it justice.

Overall I'm very impressed so far and excited to hear the rest of the Through The Rain EP before I even get to Bringin' on the Heartbreak. These EPs may end up ranking higher than the Butterfly ones for me, we'll see.

Re: #MC30 releases are back (97,184) (97,190) by Justin from United States
MC has always verbalized her dislike of the film production and certain decisions, not the soundtrack. She has even defended its commercial performance by reminding people it's a soundtrack and, thus, should not be compared to a studio album.

Side note: I wish I could have seen Sweet, Sweet Fantasy and her performing Loverboy.

She has something up her sleeve. I wouldn't read too much into it, considering she is more open to talking about Glitter than ever before. There's obviously some strategy to this.

Re: #MC30 releases are back (97,186) (97,189) by Justin from United States
I check this site daily and finally created an account to respond. The most critical remix of HATEU is the one sampling "at night, I think of you..." with Gucci Maine.

Even non-Lambs get down with this, whereas her standard dub mixes are not as universally friendly (and IMO, do not age well).

And hello from Texas. Been a lamb since Music Box and seen Mariah a bunch of times - Today Show for Memoirs, Caution in Houston, Beacon Theatre, even with Lionel in Dallas - so happy to be here, dahlings.

If you're talking about the BOTH "live" version that was actually a part of the original EP back in the day. It's a little pointless I agree but she probably just included it because she's just releasing what was on the original EP.

Re: #MC30 releases are back (97,186) (97,187) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Too much is being made of Mariah skipping Glitter. I think she will do something big for it in September. What is an insult is releasing a single format as "live" that is just clapping over the original track. There are no live performances from the Charmbracelet era to include? A bit like the "live" version of O Holy Night, this was another eye-roll to some of the bullshit she puts into the public sphere. Never learns.

Re: #MC30 releases are back (97,185) (97,186) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
True, I think she thought that Glitter anniversary is just a few months away so she can release all the Glitter related stuff at that point. For her future releases for the next few eras I do hope she releases some unreleased stuff. It's more than likely she won't because in the past eras for MC30 she didn't. But I really would like to hear the Angels Advocate Remixes. I especially hope she releases the H.A.T.E.U. So So Def remix that leaked during the era. It's such a bop, I love it. Then the unreleased #Beautiful remix and the video for the remix (the one where she broke her arm). If I'm not mistaken she said she went back from the hospital to finish filming it.

That's the only reason I'm holding on to for now. Other than her personal feelings about the Glitter era, it's weird for her to skip the album especially considering she owns the masters to her recordings for that period.

A 20th anniversary acknowledgement and EP shower later this year would be awesome.

Re: #MC30 releases are back (97,183) (97,184) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I mean what else would she have done? Ignore the fact that her fans care to get her decades old soundtrack (that almost ended her career) charting to give it the glory it deserves? Wouldn't people then call her out for being ungrateful? Wouldn't her fans feel let down for their efforts? Also Mariah from what I gather seems to be quite insecure (despite being a superstar) and constantly craves validation, so I'm sure this gesture by the fans lead her to feel important and loved. I don't think her joy/surprise was disingenuous. It wasn't a ploy in my opinion for the press. It was just fan devotion that went viral. And since Glitter was a source of many Mariah spoofs and disses, when it started going viral, it got everyone talking about it.

Yes, I see now that when I was copying and pasting to reorganize my post, I left out the word "acknowledging".

I meant to say her acknowledgement of the movement wasn't sincere. It was just a convenient moment in time for the press.

Re: #MC30 releases are back (97,180) (97,182) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Maybe she's saving Glitter releases for the 20th anniversary of Glitter this September.

Also Justice For Glitter was started by the Lambily not Mariah. She was surprised by it and that's when she started acknowledging Glitter again after so many years. She realized that fans still love it even though she hates it (because obviously it was a dark and tragic era for her both professionally and personally).

Re: #MC30 releases are back (97,180) (97,181) by The Real Deal from USA
The fact that we got two unreleased single remix packages from Charmbracelet MC30 is amazing. The One and I Only Wanted were never available commercially as singles at all. I always fantasized what The One eemix singles would be. I know that on The Remixes album, we had the So So Def version, but I knew that there had to be many other remixes of it because of its intention to be a single when it was replaced midway by Boy I Need You. Even more surprising is the release of I Only Wanted. I always fantasized about this being an actual single release and had no idea that remixes were actually commissioned for it.

Re: #MC30 releases are back (97,179) (97,180) by cBerr from Canada
While disappointed about the total bypass of Glitter EPs, I can't say I'm all that shocked.

If there was ever a doubt, I guess we know now that the #JusticeForGlitter moment wasn't really "for the Lambily", but advantageous for her at that time. It would have been amazing to have those Mike Rizzo & Al B. Rich mixes to Never Too Far/Hero Medley.

Also disappointed that none of the Charmbracelet EPs are on iTunes as Apple Digital Masters. I don't know if it actually does make a difference, but it would have been nice to know her team spent the extra time remastering the files. Oh well.

I can't tell any difference in the locals for the BOTH live performance, sound like the music is the only live element.

On another note, why'd we skip Glitter?

Re: #MC30 releases are back (97,175) (97,176) by Anonymous from UK
I agree, I'm slightly frustrated by some big omissions for the CB era. Even minor ones like "The One - Instrumental" could have been on there. They've also listed the singles as being released in 2021.

Re: #MC30 releases are back (97,171) (97,175) by cBerr from Canada
I agree. A release of a concert from the Charmbracelet Tour would be a very welcome surprise. Her vocals during that era were excellent.

Also, slightly disappointed at a few omissions on the EPs.

1. The Agent X mixes to Boy (I Need You). While the song is by no means a favourite of mine, those mixes were a fresh change of pace to what we had been accustomed to from MC.

2. The Joey Negro & Joe Bermudez remixes to The One. I mean to give us the Widelife and Morel mixes (all of which were scrapped when the release was scrapped in favour of BINY) and not include the remainder of the commissioned mixes is head-scratching.

3. The RJ Janman mix to Heartbreak. To put the live version on the EP instead of that additional mix is just baffling.

Sometimes all I can do is shake my head.

And I forgot to mention the Global Soul Acapella & Deep Influence mixes for Heartbreak. All were included one one or more of the CD-R promo releases. The RJ-Janman Mix even had an 'Official' promo CD release.

Her team is asleep at the wheel.
