Re: QuestLove Supreme interview Pt. 1 (97,123) (97,125) by Hilton from USA
Interview was excellent. Whew child the responses to the Walter subject in here are alarming. I've never seen so many people who were not there to experience something have so much to say. Ha. Carry on MC.

As not much is going on... (97,124) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I saw a lyrics quiz on Treacle's channel and thought it might be quite fun considering not much is happening now. So I'm gonna post a lyrics quiz. And it is actually quite hard. Do it, don't do it, whatever.

Don't cheat, take time to think hard about the song. It's just for fun, it's not a contest. Name the song and the next line.

1. "Somehow the fire never dies"
2. "I've finally found a man that's true"
3. "But when my back is against the wall"
4. "Your conscience tells you to go"
5. "You count your steps like they're regrets"
6. "You come into my room"
7. "You're too persuasive I can't take it"
8. "Can't predict the coming storm"
9. "And you are every part of me"
10. "You'll come and save my life"
11. "I found a love I can call my own"
12. "A crescent moon began to shine"
13. "Bitterness isn't worth clinging to"
14. "Just like the stars and planets"
15. "But it don't strike me as funny"
16. "Well I'll never pin you down"
17. "I close my eyes so I can be with you"
18. "They have not gained victory over me"
19. "Let it all dissipate"
20. "He's got them pretty little eyes"

Re: QuestLove Supreme interview Pt. 1 (97,121) (97,123) by The Real Deal from USA
She spoke highly of Walter. No feud. She alluded that they no longer work together because he may have been under a contract with Sony or with Tommy. Case closed.

QuestLove Supreme part 1 (97,122) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
I throughly enjoyed this interview. I can not wait for the second part. I love the extra commentary, and I love that MC was relaxed, open, and free to speak her thoughts.

Re: MC 16 (97,118) (97,119) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I.e. when an album produces no hits, call it a "body of work" and use buzz words like "cohesion". Ugh. Mariah needs to sit at a piano and write some music with musicians who will suggest chord progressions as she sings. No samples, no shite rap, just write music. She used to do it once.

MC 16 (97,118) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
I will just say this, as long as MC works with people who understand her vision and can help create a great body of work that allows her artistry to shine, I will be satisfied.

My favourite mashup is still "Million Reasons" and "WBT" - check it out if you haven't heard it!

Jasmine Sullivan (her new album is pure fiyah)
J Balvin
Bad Bunny
Bieber
Ari (legit og single)
Dev Hynes
NoID
Kendrick Lamar
H.E.R.
Doja
Missy & Da Brat for the nostalgia
Drake

Honestly, I'd love it if she was featured in a ton of singles so she could saturate the market instead of trying to go for #20. I'd like her to take a page out of most rappers playbooks - be everywhere. Chill on the sniper angle and go shotgun on the charts.

The Collaboration with Mimi (97,114) by Will from Australia
If Mariah released a whole 12 track album of collaborations who would you want?

Drake
Bruno Mars
Beyoncé
Cardi B
The Weeknd
Calvin Harris
Kayne West
Jay Z
Blood Orange
Kelly Clarkson
Britney Spears
Post Malone
Sam Smith
Maroon 5

Re: MC16 (97,106) (97,111) by Bobby A from United States
I would love another album where she collaborates with one production team for majority of the album. I would like to see The Sneezingtons and Bruno Mars, Pop and Oak, and Mel and Mus. I mentioned this because Memoirs is really a great album. The Dream is really a brilliant songwriter. Beyonce got him to put his magic touch on the Savage remix. No one can deny that you can hear his melody and lyrics all over that song.

Re: Walter (97,107) (97,110) by Stacey from USA
Then I guess every employee who stayed on at Sony or producers, writers, etc that continued to work with Sony artists "sided with Tommy". Really? It's a ridiculous argument to make. Mariah parted ways with Sony. She left. If I left my job as a teacher on bad terms, would I expect my teacher's aide to leave with me? If she stayed, would I accuse her of "siding with the school"? Of course not. So just stop. Mariah went one way and Walter A another. Quite honestly it's been how long since MC divorced Tommy? Someone needs to "get over it". Even I don't hold grudges that long. At the end of the day, they both had a hand in creating one of the most classic, timeless Christmas songs ever. Let's celebrate that and drop the pettiness. MC included. Peace out.

I think they could write an amazing ballad together. Bruno's When I Was Your Man, and Mariah's We Belong Together are two of the best ballads of all time.

After years of mentioning them she finally worked with them.

Re: Walter (97,104) (97,107) by B from USA
Go to YouTube and/or Google and look into it. He says she falsely claims she wrote the song by herself, which she's never stated. In 1994 Walter stated Mariah came to him with the lyrics and melody, and they went from there. Yes, she no longer mentions his name but after he sided with Tommy she owes him nothing.

Maybe if Mariah decided to make a standards album.

“Bruno Mars head and shoulders above the rest.”

Given that he is about 5ft 4in tall, this made me laugh even more.

Re: Walter (97,099) (97,104) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
"Walter keeps insinuating that Mariah doesn't give him the credit he thinks deserves, which isn't true."

Can you post videos of Walter inferring this? Or videos of Mariah giving him credit for the song? Because so rarely hear her share credit for songwriting with anyone other than Y'all-know-what-dis-is.

"Mariah wrote the lyrics to AIWFCIY by herself and had already started working on the melody when she took it to him, and they finished the song together."

He doesn't deny she wrote the lyrics. Your implication that he merely "finished the song" suggests that he had very little to contribute to the melody and completely removes his programming all instruments single-handedly. The production of the song is absolutely fantastic and one of the reasons for its success. Can you post a video whereby someone says he merely "finished the song", ie. touched up what she had done?

"After being betrayed her, she owes him nothing."

I assume you mean he "betrayed" her. Howso? Because he stayed attached to a label he worked for and didn't jump ship with one of the artists when she fell out with it? How is this "betrayal"? He decided to keep his job and not jump because Mariah jumped. And it worked out rather well for him because he was involved heavily in My Heart Will Go On - one of the biggest songs of all time.

Honestly, I am not being disparaging, Brandon: please just post evidence.

And the first mention of The Smeezingtons this year you made me laugh

A duet with Barbra Streisand would be nice. As long as it isn't shmaltzy as the one with Céline but in the style of the "Guilty" album.

Best cover of TGIFY (97,101) by Twisterman from Brazil
It's very difficult to find a cover of TGIFY that you can enjoy, many of them fail due to the lack of a musical arrangement to match. This is one of the best I've heard.
