The very one. I know it's a wild guess, but it does have a Mariah ring to it. I could see her covering it. I'm probably 100% wrong but I took a stab at it.

Nobody is diagnosing Andrew with anything. Everybody has mental health whether good or bad. All anyone is saying they are tired of his negativity.

Yes, very much agree with this. Feels like trying to get one up on someone by throwing a shady insult. If you wouldn't like it coming your way, probably best not to do it back. Personality traits are very different to mental health issues.

I love it. Is it a first single for a regular album? No. But it does fit perfectly with Mariah's 30 years in the business.

Definitely, they are the writers of the song and to the best of my knowledge the only time Mariah wrote with Mark Morales. I can't wait to stream Do You Think of Me. I know Slipping Away is her most notorious b side, but I always felt DYTOM was the better track.

You, and nobody else on this message board gets to comment on somebody else's mental health. Not only does it do harm to people who suffer from mental health issues, but trying to "out" people, for want of a better word, is despicable. I'ts also hugely offensive to diminish someones opinion based on mental health issues. If someone wants to talk about their mental health issues, it is great, but unless you're qualified and know the person you're diagnosing personally, then you're doing more harm to sufferers of mental health than good. If you can't handle a different opinion, then I'm afraid it isn't Andrew who needs to leave this message board. The whole point is to listen to an array of views, and not just sycophantic fandom for the sake of it. I don't always agree with Andrew, but I do respect the basis of his opinion and his ability to deal in fact.

Save the Day (95,064)

I would have preferred the Butterfly era remix EPs but hope they make an appearance next week. But I can't complain. Mariah is releasing lots of great material for us and it is appreciated. Save the Day isn't terrible, but it isn't one of the best either. In fact, much like Crapfinity, it could be the one blip on the compilation album. I do love Lauryn's sample though.

Save the Day (95,063)

A clip of it leaked on Instagram yesterday and I thought it was something made up by the Lambily in anticipation of the actual record. Turns out it was legit but just a snippet. Now that I've heard it in its entirety, I can see why it was left in the vault, I feel like that sample works, up until the "lalala" part towards the end where you unconsciously just want to go "strumming my pain" lol. That's testament to Lauryn's talent, and the identity of that original sample. Records like that are very hard to sample and make your own. Mariah gets points for taking such a distinctive record and crafting one with a different facet both lyrically and melodically.

Glad you like the song Lee, I'm not really feeling it to be honest. It's not that it's not good, it's just a little too cheesy for me. Also when Mariah samples a continuous hook in the background, it's off putting. Found that to be the same with "Skydiving" as well.
The only part which I loved about "Save the day" was when Mariah and Ms Lauryn Hill harmonised together towards the end. The song seems more suited to the fans and not the mainstream audience. I also don't like the opening when Mariah sings in that particular note, it's sickly sweet. I love old skool songs and "Save the day" is reminiscent of that. But, I think the song could have been produced better and I would have changed the theme of it as well. I'm not one for preaching/lets change the world together. I never liked "Where is the love" or "Earth song". It's rare that theme is done well.
To me "Save the day" would have been more fitting released with a film like "Save the last dance" or "Step up". Doubt the song will grow on me as I won't intentionally play it again for enjoyment. I will still stream it though, low in the background to help with cause.
On a positive note I am thankful that Mariah is releasing music from her back catalogue and I will definitely purchase her new album.

I have to agree with you. I have been coming to this board for many years and the negativity has been slowly growing. I can't speak for his mental health, but it doesn't seem in a good place. Being a bit of an expert both personally and professionally I can say there are underlying issues there.
Some of his points are very valid though, but the website clearly says "be nice or leave".

Definitely totally agree with you. He goes through abusive cycles and negativity. I agree there's probably some mental health issues but we shouldn't have to tolerate it anymore. Everyone else behaves on this forum.

Every Mariah fan I know would prefer Mariah to do a one-take, fully live rendition of a song. Mariah is not cutting, pasting and over-engineering vocals for the fans. She's doing it for everyone else, the casual listeners who happen to be tuned into the show. The fans know and (mostly) accept that Mariah's vocals have declined with age and she cannot sing the songs the way she could in her younger years. The fact the she is pandering to the non-fans by trying to deceive them about her current vocals is sad.

I like the song but why did I think Lauren Hill was going to be more of a feature on this song? Maybe that's why Lauren isn't added as a "featuring" artist and she's relegated to the description section "with Ms Lauren Hill"?

I'm thinking these might be good guesses:
Track 2 - Can You Hear Me Track 7 - Slippin Away Track 8 - Out Here On My Own Track 9 - Loverboy (Firecracker sample) Track 10 - I Pray Track 13 - Lullaby of Birdland

I didn't know Martin Denny wrote Firecracker. Maybe the one I've mentioned is a different Martin Denny. But, wow, if we finally hear the Firecracker version of Loverboy that would be amazing.

Indeed good question from Todd. I also feel like Randy with the care-free thing. Since Corona pandemic started, life is truly hard especially mental. I do think I had a nervous breakdown too because everything is just too much. Looking at empty busses, and the people with the masks everywhere is scary and still feels like a movie. The ususal stuff like going out to the city, cinema, restaurants, meeting people, shopping is no more fun. Normal life has stopped since 6 months. I only feel good if I'm in the nature, there I calm down and find hope. The only "good" thing about the crisis is, that it shows you what is important and what not. A lot of things need to change. Please take care everyone and stay healthy (mental and physically). Let us enjoy Mariah's new album and book in autumn. Some deflection will be good for sure.

Okay wow good discovery R-A. Here's what I can deduce.
2. Can You Hear Me 3. Do You Think of Me 4. Everything Fades Away (probably) 7: Slipping Away 8. Lesley and Michael Gore were songwriters from the 60s/70s, do assume this is a cover. 9. Okay mini heart attack. Martin Denny is a lounge musician who was known for tiki bar music. I have several of his albums, if Mariah has used one of his songs for the base of hers this could be brilliant. 11. Same writers as We Belong Together. Maybe a remix or alternative take. 12. MC most notably worked with Loris Holland during Merry Christmas, mainly on arrangements though. 13. Lullaby of Birdland (this was written by Shearing and Weiss, and was on the original tracklisting of The Art of Letting Go and performed by MC on the Elusive Chanteuse tour)
The fact there are several Carey/Afanasieff compositions is exciting, but knowing past compilations and the "fan favourites" line on the website, these could easily be Hero, Butterfly, Close My Eyes etc. So I am trying not to squeal too much.
I really hope the Carey-Margulies composition is either an unheard song from the debut era, or a demo. But, again, could easily be a "fan favourite".
I'm a bit disappointed there isn't more Carey/Margulies content, as this indicates the CD does not contain any demo songs from those early days.

That's the attitude. I'm tired of all the negativity, I'm just happy Mariah is still giving us performances and new music. Be happy it takes more energy to be negative.
