Streaming platforms recommend same artists sometimes on playlists, but they didn't think of it that way. There is this analogy of streams being water. She's got this massive flow of streams, in facts she's about to break streaming records again, but it falls into a cliff immediately after the holidays. A new year's single this more celebratory would have been good for New Year's to pick up some of that attention. It should be something that is perfect to pick up on AIWFCIY and can be played throughout the year. A pop single like Katy Perry's Fireworks, or something. They tried that Auld Lang Syne but it's a misguided effort, because no one listens to such a song afterwards. Frankly if she releases something outside of the holidays, she's basically back to square one. The build-up of attention to AIWFCIY got is unique this year, partly due to its 25th anniversary and tracking week aligning to good good amount of days, which fired up her marketing team. Next year is not guaranteed she'll peak again. I guess her team were also caught by surprise. (Saturday 21 December 2019; 19:09)

A long time ago on this site someone posted a YouTube video of Walter in a recording studio with a girl and the girl was super flirty and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He said, "Don't show my wife." What if he's one of those producers who is not professional with young up and comers? The kind #MeToo tries to expose? If I knew something like that about someone I wouldn't want to work with them either. I know it's a huge leap to assume that from a one minute video. And no one has ever come out against him as far as I know. I don't think he was inappropriate with Mariah since he was friends with her husband. I've just been trying to think of why she refuses to work with him after all of the beautiful songs they wrote together. If it's really just that he couldn't follow her when she left Sony that seems like a reasonable reason. He was under contract. Maybe he knew what Tommy was doing at the time to try to crash her career and didn't stand up for her? Or maybe Tommy told him if he followed Mariah he'd sink his career too? And he was loyal to Tommy, Mariah be damned? This is all speculation. In my imagination I hear Tommy saying, "You're where you're at because of me." Then Mariah responds, "I'm where I'm at because of my talent." Then Tommy says, "I'll prove to you that the right publicity machine can make anyone famous." Then he hires JLo (who can't sing) and helps take her to the top proving that money and the right promo can catapult anyone. Anyway, I'm so glad time has passed and Tommy is not trying to sabotage Mariah's career anymore. Despite his faults, the man's a genius. (Saturday 21 December 2019; 18:29)

She has paid her respects numerous times and continues to do so. Don't expect her to send them flowers every year or to do gratitude posts on IG because neither of those projects (or any other thing she did with Tommy or Walter) would've been remotely the same without Mariah being the centrepiece. Honestly I'm getting tired of Walter's need for attention. He admits that the AIWFCIY royalty cheques are enough to feed his entire family tree yet he still complains he doesn't get credit? Errmm.. Has he been watching Mariah's interviews? Or does he not know that the singer (and also in this case, over 50% of the true songwriting credits) always gets the most recognition? Perhaps he just wants his own mic. Neither Hero nor AIWFCIY would be the same even if you did the exact same thing with Celine, Leona or anyone else on his impressive list. I would be upset too if I wasn't given credit for my work. When she says "I wrote this song" I think she's talking about the parts she wrote, though. Under the description of the new video (which I loved) Walter A. Is credited. It reads: "Carey worked with Walter Afanasief, with whom she wrote all of the tracks, as well as producing Carey's interpretations of the covered material." (Saturday 21 December 2019; 18:17)

People come in here always saying how Mariah should give credit to this or that for being instrumental in this or that way in her career. That somehow Mariah failing to mention them in interviews is the equivalent of denying their input in her career. When has Mariah outright said or denied anyone she has previously worked with of any credit at all? When exactly has Mariah claimed to have done everything on a song without needing help from anyone? At the end of the day, the music industry is still a business. As long as you are getting paid the right amount of royalties for your contributions to material you have worked on, then actually having a good relationship with the artist is only a bonus, as bad as that sounds. Just because Mariah doesn't talk about them a lot doesn't mean she doesn't value what they have done for her career. (Saturday 21 December 2019; 18:13)

She's credited both of them many times in interviews over the years even after ties were severed and you are right, royalties have been paid. I agree Mariah isn't perfect, she makes mistakes and sometimes questionable choices (Who doesn't in life? New music (91,856) by We are Lambily from USA This may sound harsh but I know Mariah has at least one million fans in the world, the streaming proves that, Caution has almost been streamed 400 million times across all streaming sites. I need Mariah to stop saying this new album is for the lambs or my fans. We need the public support again. Caution was definitely in the right direction. Her voice is definitely in a better shape than when Caution was recorded, and it will only get better. Runaway was arguably the best song of the album, it gave me vibes. The public have seen her as this untouchable diva for quite some time, we need her to level down as she has done the past year. I’m so hopeful for the future and our girl. If the sales had matched the critical reception, we would have been making comparisons to TEOM and saying things like "comeback". Unfortunately, the album was ignored by Lambs, fans, and the general public. Now that I have that off my chest, if an album of that quality didn't sell, then a "follow up" album is unlikely to sell either. But... Walter A. does climb out of his cave every Christmas speaking about Mariah. Out of all of these artists he has worked with, he rarely speaks about them. At least no where near as much as he talks about Mariah. When Mariah was having all of those issues during the Glitter era did Walter's bald headed ass reach out and least check on her? When Mariah was getting crucified by the press and folks were saying her career was over where the hell was Walter? I don't recall seeing him defend Mariah or say anything positive about her however I did see Diane Warren, Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis, David Foster, Babyface, Jernaine Dupri, P.Diddy, and others defend Mariah. Out of all these artists, some who are well known song writers themselves that don't publicly give him credit that he has worked with, the main artist he always got to name check is Mariah. Yes, Walter A is a successful song writer/producer but he is also a pompous tool that is still riding on Mariah's tits despite all of the other artists that he has had success with. Yes it is such the pitiful state of the world that you are demonized for not pledging full allegiance to ignorant ideologues. Anything less is considered "hate" - whatever that means. You are indeed not of good character unless you do the positive preamble; apparently. I used to think just being on this website was enough of a preamble. But it is not. Mariah is imperfect. And her career re-telling smattered with embellishments. That she frequently fails to mention Walter seems to suggest she wrote everything unaided. It is absurd. You only have to see young Mariah singing to him at a piano and saying "Oh yeah, that's good" when he feeds complimentary chords to know it is a false representation. To call him "Walter A" is uncomfortable at best. It's serves mostly to downplay his significance but any nob idiotic fan know how significant he was in her success and the success of many other artists he did not begging and end between Music Box and Butterfly (name one good ballad from Rainbow). She would not be here today were it not for his talent. I don't doubt Mariah is a huge talent in her own right. She, of course, is truly unique and immense. It's why I love her. I saw it when I was 11 and love how I understood that which other people did not yet come to know. But she airbrushes history as easily as she does her photographs. I am concerned for the memoir. I think many people will come out of the wordwork to label it false. The best memoirs have people confessing where they failed and acknowledging mistakes. People love vulnerability. I recently watched a video of Mariah almost suggesting Glitter the movie was basically misunderstood and now loved by people. Ludicrous. How can anyone be confident her memoir will not be anything other than another propaganda tool to paint herself in a positive light? It feels like it will be the literary equivalent of her frozen smile. However, she has made massive changes to her personality recently so there is still a glimmer of hope. Anyway. Merry Christmas. Mariah has had a good one and I wish you the same. It was fun coming back here for the season. But it's still steeped in falsehood and stupidity. And lack of humour. Happy Holidays. All the sensible, measured and reasonable respondents to your wailing are adults who were buying Mariah records before you were born. So it is what it is. Walter is an incredibly successful and talented producer and songwriter who has had many independent successes, as has been mentioned. And like it or not, Tommy was the one who insisted Mariah make a Christmas album. Her initial response was "stop trying to turn me into Connie Francis" and now she's the much adorned Queen of Christmas, and has made somewhat of a latter day career on that element alone, with Christmas concerts, endorsements, movies, books, and merchandise. No one is taking anything away from Mariah. We're all fans and acknowledge her talent, but she hasn't achieved what she has single handedly. (Saturday 21 December 2019; 11:49)

But some of my favorite moments on masterpieces, is when she does something unexpected. Even musically, I like when she does different things than just pop/r&b/hip-hop. I liked her inflections of reggae, jazz, even rock. I’d love if she gave us many other genres like opera, Broadway, folk, etc. The reason why I like the album the most of her releases this decade is because of its focus and gems. New music (91,846) by Ronnie from California During the YouTube Q&A, Mariah mentioned having ideas for new music. Do you guys think it is too soon for her to drop another album? Does anyone think she shouldn't release another one? Given her track record, many of us wouldn't bet on a new album soon. I think Caution was a great addition to her discography and would love a new album. I think a follow up album that continued the story line would make Caution that much more impactful. Currently, it ominously ushers that there is something lurking in the Hollywood smoke but there is no punchline. Sidenote: This makes consider TEOM as a follow up to CB. YouTube Q&A (91,844) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines The YouTube Q&A was very cool. She was funny and engaging and managed to answer the questions asked her without going off on her usual tangents. The most intriguing part was when she mentioned about a man she has already talked to. Then she said she actually talked to two men. The rational part of of me is thinking, okay, she is working with 2 different producers who she thinks people will be surprised by.
